I am watching many watch channel reviews came across this one and love it. Very complete, easy clear explanations supported by relevant imaging. What is good, is good, and no hesitation in pointing out the bad or weird. Very helpful. Well done Sir, brilliant.
Love the Airman, something a lot of watchmakers haven't attempted. Always good to see brands giving a new take on reading time instead of just sticking with the norm.
Great video! I recently acquired an Airman GMT Chief with the white dial. Lovely watch. The vintage look emphasised by the mineral (not sapphire) dial helps make the white dial look warm and vintage. It is certainly v clear to read as long as you don’t confuse the GMT and minute hands. The PVD coating and brown strap suits the retro look. It’s still a Swiss movement underneath but at a reasonable price. And the whole history of the watch inc being flown on the Gemini and Apollo missions adds to its brand kudos.
It’s such a rich watch a brand isn’t it? And I need to mention that in future videos. The mineral crystal has a certain warm view to it that sapphire loses with its clearness. Well said sir.
@@DesignAtelier the history is one of its attractions. Especially if like me you love the whole space/moon connection. It's certainly a lot cheaper than buying an Omega Speedmaster! And as a watch the Airman has much more functionality. I was concerned about the mineral crystal but figured it is more easily repairable if scratched and most of the time I wear watch according to what I am doing so would wear something else if I knew I was going to likely to knock it. The hesalite case hasn't reduced the Speedmaster's popularity! Indeed its an essential feature for some people being original. Just like the Airman. The hands off approach of Invicta is sensible though I suspect it has influenced the pricing. You can pick up the vintage range for less than half the MRRP on its website. Though it may be that Amazon are simply doing deals right now! I look forward to more reviews.
Came across your channel through one of your gshock vids. Fallen in love with your work. I love THIS watch content. Design breakdowns and understanding the subtleties. Great work!
I’ve been looking to add one of these to my shortlist and you may have convinced me. I prefer an original rather than a reissue but a classic watch and instantly recognisable. Thanks again! 🔥🔥🔥
Glad I could help! The classics are the best for me too. That second crown is iconic to the model now. I wouldn't go too old though because i do like my bezel's ratcheting.
Great video Jayson on a great watch. I had a Glycine Airman and I truly enjoyed my time with it. I am seriously considering buying another one, this time the SST version.
Hey @Design Altier.....I have a Glycine f104 40mm and I would like you to give me your honest opinion about it ....I know it might be a stretch for you to do a full review. Thanks and keep up the great content.
Very good video overall. But SST didn’t stand for Super Sonic Travel as you said. It was for the Boeing SST 2707 , a project that never flew. And the “purist” was simply the watch without the GMT hand. Good video. Thanks.
I have the all black 42mm on the nato strap. Beautiful watch but it's impossible to see the hands most times other than in direct sunlight. Same for the back, the glass showing the movement is tinted, so it is difficult to see. Still love the watch though, I find myself wearing it as much, if not more than my luxury watches, it's worth the extra seconds it takes to see the time.
Glycine Airman has been affordable since Invicta took over.. however price is slowly creeping up over the years. I would get one now while you can at good price.
I'm pretty ok with the reissues. But i'm a vintage kind of guy and will likely pick the original than the reissue if had to. That all black modern version though is speaking to me. i like it.
Just fyi... You don't need a series of new gears, or a new movement, to make a 12 hour watch a 24 hour watch. You just double the number of teeth on the final gear driving the hour hand. Twice the teeth means the hand will move half as fast. So instead of 2 revolutions in 24 hours, it will make 1 revolution per 24 hour cycle.
@@DesignAtelier that'd be awesome! Looking forward to that video. Check out the Apollo 8 one. They've laser engraved the surface of the Moon on the dial and the bridges! Absolutely fascinated by it
Excellent overview of an iconic watch! The timing however... Was looking at three different ones and with renewed interest... Well let's just say they are all gone lol
There seems to be a high demand for these now and the values are holding well enough. You got to snag them as soon as they go up. The newer models are available but doesn’t have the feel of the vintage ones somehow.
I say Don't buy this watch I purchased the GLO195 and it does not last a 24 hour period in fact it stops just after 12 hours of use and you can not wind this watch manually. Maybe 50 years ago they made a great watch but since they have been purchased by Invicta the quality has gone down.
