The bottom line here is: As per my first statement, god could not possibly gain a right to punish Eve for failing a test which was a wilfully evil test created by itself to entrap her. There are up to 4 billion people on earth who know of the Adam and Eve story, who have the knowledge of the consequences that followed and have the knowledge required to make a considered good versus evil decision, how many of those do you think would eat the fruit? I'm a happy lifelong atheist. My Grampy taught me secular values without realizing it. By the time I got to Sunday School the stories and cheapo coloring books bored me. I knew better versions of many of the stories. As the song says "Momma tried..." to no avail with several preachers/pastors to make me a believer. I wasn't having it. I was an atheist well before I ever heard or learned what it meant. I think we should ban teaching any religion until at least the teen years. Religions wouldn't last long imo. 💙💯

When argued and explained like this it's really hard for me to understand how it is possible to remain a Christian. Maybe it's really only a way to satisfy a deep need for community or to cope with own or loved ones deaths. I don't understand. It baffels me. Maybe because I never held religious beliefs myself, not even as a child. But I remember fearing maybe having to go to hell because of that tho. This held true until way up into my teens when my ability for rational thinking improved enough.to comfortable discard all such fears.
To say God is "evil", you must have some kind of standard. But why should God care about your standard? Who died and made you judge of the universe? If God were to decide to keep people's moral standard, well, which humans should he obey? After all, we can't seem to agree with each other. So if God obeys me, he won't be good in your book. If he obeys you, he won't be good in mine. He obviously can't make everyone happy. Perhaps he he obey the majority opinion--whatever 51% of humanity declares to be good at any given time? I personally am not going there since the definition of planetary intelligent life requires all people on a planet to be at the top of the ladder. So, let us subtract four billion from 13.787billion. This equals nine decimal seven-eight-seven billion years. Nine-ish billion years / 750,000 years equals 13,049.3. So, for nine billion years after the big bang there (could have) been 13,049.3 groups of highly intelligent and powerful beings. These beings could be creating all sorts of things. Over time, things could very simply interest them. These are my thoughts. There is always the possibility that I am mistaken. But there is still the chance that you could be since there is (zero absolute proof) for either side!

As a long-time atheist and anti-theist I simply haven't found that to be the case. Some of humanity's most brilliant minds have been believers. Newton -- arguably the most intelligent human who ever lived -- believed in that nonsense. One could even argue that Einstein believed in a generic 'god.' To the contrary, high levels of intelligence actually helps believers rationalize and explain away the inconsistencies and contradictions in their religious faith! In the end, it's less about intelligence and more about commitment to objectivity and the truth. If one isn't willing to honestly question their religious indoctrination, it doesn't matter how intelligent or simple-minded they are.

We have a new Swedish translation of the Bible finished 2001 but the scholar that made the translation says that the Bible big theme is not hell but dark and light. Actually, no. Even from a purely literary standpoint, it's an absolutely HORRIBLE piece of literature! It's filled with contradictions and inconsistencies, it botches a lot of scientific and historical facts, it's VERY repetitive and its first half is written primarily in a language that is EXTREMELY difficult to translate, and the final result shows. Even the most devoted believers have an extremely difficult time comprehending it without a concordance or some pastor or 'scholar' rationalizing the countless confusing portions. The Bible is, quite possibly, the most widely owned, and LEAST widely read, book in history!

The percentage of atheism and faith is 50% for each side, but as a Muslim, I would like to correct two pieces of information. Mr. Shaar Fi Ras says that Muhammad ascended to heaven. This is not in the Quran. The Quran did not say that. The verses say: “Glory be to Him who took His servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.” (1) And We gave Moses the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel. Do not (You take a guardian besides Me) The verses never said that someone ascended to the sky, as spaceships were not known at that time. Unfortunately, Muslims are the ones who claimed that and attributed stories and tales that they copied from Zoroastrianism and attributed them to the Prophet Muhammad, although the verses also speak about the Prophet Moses. Islam has only one book, the Quran. Muslims created other books after centuries, 250, 300, 400, and 500 years, and attributed them to the Prophet and to Islam. Thirdly, all this precise system in the universe, the movement of the stars and planets in their paths, the movement of water, the work of the heart, respiratory system, and liver, and planting compassion in the mother’s heart to raise her children, all of that came about by chance? It isn't 50%. This is a false dichotomy. Theism has no evidence. Atheism doesn't make a claim. We don't care what your god says or you think your god says. We want you to illustrate a miracle, something supernatural, or maybe produce something like a flying horse or the like. You can't. You know you can't. So why should people believe? There is no explanation for this, other than God heard my prayer. I was there and experienced the reality of my God and Savior Jesus Christ I drove with my Jaguar from Canada to Costa Rica. The Jaguar has a hydraulic suspension. I was driving in Honduras on a long stretch of a rough road through the wilderness. All of a sudden I could not control the steering wheel anymore. I stopped I stepped out of my car and looked at the problem and saw that oil was leaking out of my hydraulic system. The Jaguar has hydraulic suspension. My car was sitting on the tires and I could not drive it anymore. I did not know what to do because it is dangerous sitting there on a road with a broken down expensive car. I fell on my knees and cried out to my Lord. It was about 20 min later and a car stopped on a road where almost never anyone comes. A man stepped out and HAD THE BOTTLE WITH HYDRAULIC OIL in his hand. He filled my Hydraulic oil. I started my car and it came off the tires and worked again. When I stepped out to say thank you I saw the man driving away. After looking no oil dripped out. I drove 600 Mi to Costa Rica without a drop of oil leaking out. In San Jose Costa Rica My oil started leaking again. I was very close to a Garage where they repaired the leak. God heard my cry and send an Angel or a person I don’t know. However, God gave me to see a Miracle. I have proof in my heart that no one can understand. I have seen and felt the presence of God many times. There is no “maybe” or “maybe not.” I know it. I have lived for two years without an income with 11 small children from one marriage. Every day we had enough food. My wife had to go to Holland for her mom was dying. I ordered the ticket but did not have the money I trusted my Lord would provide it. On the day I needed to pay an envelope with $1500 was in my mailbox.

For example: Moses was an isolated sheepherder who knew absolutely nothing about the geologic history of the Earth, which occurred over billions of years by time as we experience it here on Earth. Yet, Moses wrote correctly in Genesis that during the Earth’s development there was a time when it was totally covered with water and then the dry land appeared in one place (the supercontinent that existed before tectonic plate movement began, of course).
