FunnyVideoMaker77 Wrong, if all was personal Michael should never kill Fredo. But in the logical way, Fredo needed to be killed or the future of the family was bad.
I've got the trilogy on dvd at home. I've watched them a gazillion times (well #3 only a few million, I'm sure you can understand why) - Why cant I stop watching clips on youtube at work?????
I never noticed until today that Michael is sitting in the same chair that Fredo was in during the "I'm smart" scene, and that Michael leans back in the same pose Fredo was in with his head far back on the chair.
This scene is so menacing and evil especially with the soundtrack. You wasn't quite sure that Micheal was going to kill him till he pulls the kid at the last minute. Even Fredo knew what was up then.
Michael became a cold ruthless killer that was willing to wait months if not years to get his revenge, Fredo and Carlo for example. He killed Roth when it wasn't necessary at that point, and Moe Greene strictly out of greed to get the Hotel.
This was Michael's complete fall into darkness, a perfect end to the Shakespearean tragedy of the Corleone family saga. Of course there was a part 3, but I like to think this is the true end of the story
I don't why but that symphonic chime of the godfather 2 theme after Fredo gets shot when the camera pans on to the boat made the scene that much more powerful.
Fredo was too soft he acted like a little brother i expected him to be like sonny or michael but michael being the youngest son had a more ruthless mindset than fredo
FREDO DID NOT KNOW. No way. He was saying prayers in his way he does for good luck in order to catch a fish. He definitely did not know. Fredo thought the guy went with him to hang out and talk just did it because he and Fredo know each other well. You think Fredo, who is ultra emotional is just gonna get on the boat to die. No fucking way he just gets on the boat. He was one of Don Vito's sons, for God sake. He had no idea his brother would do this. C'mon, man. That guy was on the boat fishing with Fredo. Why would he do this if Fredo knew? He wouldn't. It'seven more heartbreaking, Fredo did not know. Michael was fucked up paranoid. He thought Fredo may mess up and get him killed. After Mike's girl in Italy was murdered blown up in the car, he was never the same. That changed him. He was seemingly constantly unsettled in his thoughts now; and always paranoid.
As soon as fredo went Against the family or Mike just fr his benefits or something of his own itself was a big step against the family Carlo didn't personally kill Sonny but was wid Barzini in that plot similarly Fredo was in here to kill Mikey knowingly or unknowingly he was with Roth to get his brother ,in Mikey's terms his Father's Son killed so the Fredo was destined to be killed as Carlo got the same treatment , No matter what he shouldn't have passed routes ,Clemenza and Tessio Once asked Don to have their own families Clemenza being loyal Got that too instead of betrayal Fredo could have straighten up wid Mike . If Fredo being stupid can do Such an act for power , 😅😅 Mike was a smart Ruthless man he kept him alive until his mother was alive ,it wasn't revenge It was an example set for higher ranks in Corleone's that betrayal will not be taken whoever he is .
If anyone of you have watched LEGEND for Tom Hardy will notice that Reggie doesn't even think to kill his unstable twin brother Ronnie just because he is his brother, that thing reminds me of Micheal when he gave the ( Go Ahead ) to have Fredo killed .. Then I said to myself .. Ronnie from ( LEGEND ) was not even a stupid part of the attempt to assassinate his brother .. Micheal was right that fredo must die because he will do it again and give any random info that will lead to kill Micheal himself .. The bottom line is ( Don't Ever Take Sides With Anyone Against The Family )
Jake Jones I think you mean that mike is a psychopath. Not s sociopath. Big difference. Fredo dying was necessary. Mike was running a crime family and wanted to go fully legit but with someone like fredo who cant keep his mouth shut there is a high risk the family falls apart. Fredo had to die. Reggie and ron have been together since the womb and really had s special relationship.
never go against your own famiglia never capish!....or you"ll b wuack! like fredo.. without al pacino the godfather movies would no be as great as it is!
This really overstepped the mark..killing your own family. I wonder if George Lucas copied this idea when making Anakin Skywalker kill his wife in Revenge Of The Sith. Michael and Anakin are very similar in the sense they are both good at the start then become bad to protect their families and then seek redemption but lose something in doing so, Anakin his life while Michael his daughter.
i heard the birth of the empire scene in revenge of the sith when anakin was slaughtering the separatists leaders while palpatine proclaimed the galactic empire was born was based on the baptism scene in the original godfather
wow, that makes this scene even colder! Before i thought Fredo wasnt aware of what was going on and he was just saying that verse for another reason. Damn mike was indeed a cold ruthless guy
harris aziz yes he was he even made his wife think that he didnt kill his brother in law which he had someone kill him on his orders yes he was a really cold dude but he was a very loyal person he rewarded people who stayed loyal t him
+harris aziz Fredo didn't know he was going to get killed, he always says hail marry while fishing. He would have not been so calm if he knew he was going to die.
