Description:
No movie changed Hollywood more than THE GODFATHER. From the bestselling novel by Mario Puzo to box-office blockbuster, its influential legacy endures to this day. Starring Marlon Brando in his Oscar®-winning performance as the patriarch of the Corleone family, this first installment in the three-movie saga paints a dramatic portrait of the Sicilian clan’s rise and near fall from power in America. I can see why they deleted the scene where Vito meets Hyman Roth. In the Godfather Part 2, it's made clear that Vito and Hyman were both born in 1891: Vito escapes Ciccio by going to America in 1901 before his 10th birthday (December 7); in 1958, Hyman celebrated his 67th birthday. But in the deleted scene of their first meeting, Hyman is clearly much younger (late teens/early 20s) than the obviously thirty something Vito

Every single one of the deleted scenes makes all the shown scenes make so much more sense. The revenge of the horse's head was to take something priceless away from Woltz, just as he had done to the child. Young Vito seeing Fanucci assaulted let him know Fanucci was more easily challenged than anyone thought. Every. Single Scene.
@terryp2517
@terryp2517 2 года назад
I have mixed feelings about it being deleted, because his calculated move against Fanucci makes sense, but it lowers the tension becuase you konw he's clearly a fraud. However, without it, it seems a lot bolder and more calculated and truly a gamble because you don't how it will unfold in that moment
@peterrowan8606
@peterrowan8606 Год назад
Not all of the scenes work, but the one with Woltz and the child witnessed by Tom Hagen does, I grant you. But scenes like Sonny's daughter coming to see Michael at his son's communion to ask for a blessing to marry and actor don't. Another one that works is Sonny and his father's chair--when he dips the bread in the sauce--that works. But, to be fair, there are a lot of scenes that don't work.

Marlon Brandon played the role so well, that i don’t think anyone could have played it that good. He was perfect. The casts were perfect & the movie was a damn masterpiece. In New York City, John Wick prepares to exact his revenge against the High Table while hiding underground with the Bowery King. He travels to Morocco and kills the Elder, the only individual above the High Table. As a result, New York Continental Hotel manager Winston and his concierge Charon are summoned to the Marquis Vincent de Gramont, a senior member of the High Table who chastises Winston for his failure to kill John.[a] To punish Winston, de Gramont strips him of his duties as manager, has the New York Continental destroyed, and kills Charon. He then travels to Paris and enlists Caine, a blind, retired High Table assassin and old friend of John's, to kill him, threatening to kill Caine's daughter otherwise. John takes refuge at the Osaka Continental, which is run by his friend Shimazu Koji. De Gramont's assassins, led by his right-hand man Chidi, arrive along with Caine to kill John. Akira (Koji's daughter and the hotel's concierge) orders the hotel evacuated, and joins her father, John, and the hotel's staff in fighting off the High Table's assassins. Akira is wounded, and Koji tells John how to escape the hotel. On his way out, John fights off another wave of assassins, followed by Caine. They are interrupted by a tracker pursuing John for a bounty (nicknamed "Mr. Nobody" by de Gramont), but he lets John go after deciding the bounty is insufficient. Caine intercepts Akira and her father as they attempt to leave, and kills Koji in after a brief fight. John returns to New York and meets with Winston at Charon's gravesite. Winston - himself seeking revenge against the High Table - suggests that John challenge de Gramont to a duel, as winning will free him of his obligation to the High Table. Per the Table's traditions, John can only request a duel on behalf of a crime family; seeing as he previously severed his ties to the Ruska Roma,[b] John travels to their headquarters in Berlin to receive a new crest marking his membership to the syndicate. His adoptive sister Katia agrees to give him a crest in exchange for killing Killa, a German High Table senior who murdered her father. John goes to meet with Killa, only to find both Caine and Mr. Nobody there as well; a fight ensues, and John kills Killa after pursuing him through his nightclub. Katia then brands John's arm with a Ruska Roma crest, enabling John to formally request a duel with de Gramont through Winston - who asks the New York Continental rebuilt with him reinstated as manager as part of his terms should John win. In Paris, John and de Gramont decide the parameters of their duel, in a meeting moderated by the Harbinger, the Table's emissary. De Gramont nominates a reluctant Caine to fight in his place. The duel is determined to take place the following sunrise at Sacré-Cœur; the Harbinger informs John that both he and Winston will be executed should he fail to appear on time. John meets with Winston and the Bowery King, who arrives in Paris to give John a weapon and a new ballistic suit. De Gramont attempts to prevent John from arriving to the duel by placing a $40 million bounty on his head. John fights off several hordes of assassins on his way to Sacré-Cœur, including Mr. Nobody, but the latter stops hunting John after John saves Mr. Nobody's dog from being killed by Chidi. Caine aids John in fighting his way up the stairs leading to the Sacré-Cœur; Chidi nearly kills John, but Mr. Nobody kills him first. John and Caine narrowly reach the summit in time to avoid Winston from being killed. The two duel with pistols; Caine gravely wounds John in the first two rounds. De Gramont asks to personally execute John for the final round, but John, who had not yet fired his gun, shoots de Gramont in the head. The Harbinger declares John free of his debt to the High Table, and reinstates Winston as manager of the New York Continental. John then succumbs to his injuries and dies. He is buried next to his wife, and Winston and the Bowery King pay their respects at his grave.

Fabricio wasn't murdered bc of Apollonia s revenge. Main reason he was killed is security of his family.....that's how it was stated in a book and that's what Coppola showed you in Saga Years passed by, he started looking for him only after Kay stayed pregnant with first child. Boy......a brain dead juvenile manipulative goldigger who married an elderly man who she found ugly, who she knew was gangster after only two weeks of knowning him because she thought he was rich......blew up in a car. @tomflorio3639
@tomflorio3639 11 месяцев назад
@@BostonsF1nest Not exactly. We know from the movie that Sonny is convinced Paulie was responsible, due to him having been out sick on the day Vito was shot. The deleted scene shows us that Sonny looked into it and obtained proof that it was Paulie before giving the order to have him whacked. Based on the film, we don't ever know that Sonny had actual proof, or that he'd even taken the initiative to investigate. We're sort of left to believe he's jumped to the conclusion that Paulie did it simply because of him having called out sick. And, while that may seem a logical conclusion to jump to, it's interesting to learn that Sonny wasn't having a guy killed just based on a hunch. It makes him seem more intelligent, less reactionary.

If there’s one scene I think absolutely should’ve been included it’s the one where Sonny tells his mother about what happened and then makes some arrangements, the subtle detail of him being hesitant to sit in his fathers chair as to not give strength to the possibility of his father dying, to him springing straight into action as the acting Don. It brought so much more to Sonny’s character other than his well known temper, whereas in the final version we don’t get to see him in action as boss of the family at all like shown in that scene. A real shame given he’s described in the book as being a terrific wartime boss but nothing really alludes to that in the film, instead it kind of alludes to the opposite by only showing him react to Connie being beaten by Carlo and getting killed as a result of that reaction

The scene where Michael is shown Fabrizio's photographs is very intense. He was waiting maybe 10 years for that revenge.
@dc6461
@dc6461 Год назад
No he didn't. In fact he wasn't even looking for Fabricio until Kay stayed pregnant with their first child. Michael is sitting on the couch and Al Neri is standing above him. Coppola emphasized that in the script. He wanted you to know that there was no anger or rage in Michael. He has a look on his face of a man reminded of what he had done.... conned a young girl into marriage so he can have sex with her in the middle of the mafia war and killed her with the wedding. " Ahh Fabricio " he says.... he forgot. " It took so long ".... years passed by even though Michael was bigger than Roman empire.They controlled NY and beyond after he killed 4 families but he couldn't find punk with no power who owned pizzeria. He hesitated. In the script he put the pictures on the table and said " later " and moved on with his night. In the end he killed him for the safety of his family as Saga specifically stated. He hesitated

All opposite from what happened with Kay. After Kay told him abortion he turned himself into a red blooded Italian, walking up and down boat house full of rage eating orange like an apple. He found Roth in a record time even though he was outside the country. He payed millions to get him into country and killed him in front of FBI and IRS agents at the lowest point of Corleone family power while he was still under watchful eye of the government. For pure vengeance.....

Factoid: In 32:17 where Fabrizio tells Michael the men are going to the Portella Della Ginestra, this refers to a crucial moment in the 'hidden' novel in the 'Godfather' series. "The Sicilian" involved Michael Corleone with an important folk hero of that part of Sicily who played a key role (don't wish to spoil). This line was a direct reference to "The Sicilian" which was still being discussed as a sequel film. Later made into a separate film

You can’t compare a film to a book. They’re two completely different art forms. A movie based on a book has to make certain sacrifices due to time constraints and to maintain momentum. A lot of Sonny’s characterization was sacrificed, as it should have been, to keep the audience focused on Michael. Many fans of books that movies and television shows are based on often fail to accept how impractical it is from a storytelling standpoint to include everything and everyone in a book or even tell the story in the same way.

You know i read corey feldmans book. Although his parents didnt pimp him out they knew of no other income then to use the money that they had made through corey. Besides being a playmate i dont think corey feldmans mother ever had a real job. I bet half of corey feldmans income went to his parents drug habit

@@BrianSmith-yq7ys I have read since that the novel goes into more detail about Watlz. IN Puzo's book, Watlz is known to be fond of young women. It mirrors the Senator Geary character in Part II. The Corleones have no problem playing those men because they see them as being corrupt already.

Where’s the scene with Bonasera the undertaker at the funeral parlor, complaining to his wife as he prepares to meet Vito?

These scenes were integrated into the Godfather a novel for t.v shown I think on N.B.C. What made it special is that they combined Godfather 1and 2 but spliced the two in chronological order is what makes it special.

Thanks for posting, showed me just how good the film editing was back then. I would have left these scenes out too.

I love all the deleted scenes. if these scenes were included in the finished films the films would still be great. in the first movie Vito Corleone doesn't hurt a single person yet Genco begs hi. to stay, thinking that Vito will scare away death itself.
