You just keep making these videos, and I guarantee a lot of us old retired leftover drivers will keep watching. Brings me back to life in trucking. I even catch myself tearing up a lot remembering days past gone.
Great looking equipment, thanks for the video. I will say, as one who drove during the "Golden Age", It wasn't the equipment that made it the golden age. It was the respect professional truck drivers had for their jobs and for the motoring public. At one time, truck drivers were called "Knights of the Road". It sounds corny now but it meant something to us. The trucks were loud, rough riding, under powered, most had no power steering or air conditioning. The roads were terrible and the truck stops were worse. I spent 32 years in the business and would not have done a different job for anything in the world.
O-H-I-O Porter greetings.🇺🇸I come from a trucking family. My dad started driving trucks in the 1930s & I’ve heard many of his stories, my brothers’ stories & have my own as well. “Knights Of The Road” is quite an accurate saying. There’s a much different breed out there today. I’ve heard about many good & bad truck stops as well. A good word is…camaraderie. That’s how I describe truckers back then. You don’t find much of that today though, but there are some good truckers out there still. Love those old trucks!!🥰🤩✌️
Made my day. Woke up Jan 26 to this. Drove dodge ford gmc ihc cabovers. Still driving but not the same industry today. Love your videos. Phantom. your the man.
Some of the trucks in this video are older than me! And I’m 61 years old! Still, I enjoy watching your videos and remembering Trucking in the 70’s to 2019. I finally had to get out of the cab for good.
I hear ya. Brings back so many memories of when trucking was fun an respectable. I just wondered how many millions of miles I put on a transtar II cornbinder along with all the other types of trucks I drove in 50 yrs.
Everything about these videos is SO WELL DONE. Perfect photos and colorization just brings the memories flooding back. Great job on the accompanying music as well. Love seeing those old trucks and truckers from a simpler time and what a tribute to the drivers behind the wheel!
O-H-I-O Porter greetings.🇺🇸 You do some good stuff! Love those old trucks!🥰 I always think of my dad & oldest brother each time I see these old trucks. My dad started trucking in the 1930s & trucking became a big part in the lives of his brothers & sister. I think of the many stories he shared with me…the Good, the Bad & the Weird out there on the roads.😳 Back when Al Capone was picking on truckers, etc. Makes me appreciate what we have today & what good they had back then. God Bless our truckers! 🥰😎✌️
It’s the period of trucking that wasn’t full of douchebag "truck drivers" on RU-vid posting videos of their wives or of all the ridiculous toys/vehicles that they have, or proclaiming to be experts at trucking. There needs to be more channels like this, real truckers don’t wear flip-flops.
Your "Golden Age" was not golden. The trucks were hot, rough riding, hard to turn and handle. Skinny bunks, no power steering, No A/C. They beat you to death. The trucks sucked. The drivers and the people you met at receivers and truck stops were almost friends. (Kind and friendly) Other drivers would actually help if you need a hand. The people part was GOLDEN. Today the trucking industry has turned to the LEAD ERA. (I'm 85 years old; just my 2 cents)
Even though you are correct about trucks from back in the day, in spite of all the aforementioned inefficiencies, trucking was still fun. We had lots of fun back then, even when the work wasn't easy. We would 'accidentally' meet up with another driver going the same way as you, and connect via CB radio. We'd stop and have coffee together or even a meal and run together until our routes had us parting ways. We had lengthy conversations on the radio and in person. Now it's full of people from other cultures that can't drive, speak or read English, totally distracted and are very inconsiderate. They're not drivers or even steering wheel holders nowadays. They're seat warmers.
Would love to see a good collection of 90's trucks, we believe these were the best trucks ever made, like 1969-1970 made the best muscle cars, i don't like show trucks, i want WORKING TRUCKS
