The Golden Cube, Now This? Saudi Arabia’s GIANT Cube Skyscraper
Saudi Arabia is known for its ambitious and futuristic projects, such as the NEOM city and The Line. But the latest one to catch the world’s attention is the Mukaab, a massive cube-shaped skyscraper that will be built in the capital Riyadh.
The Mukaab will be the centerpiece of the New Murabba Project, a plan to create “the world’s largest and modern downtown” in Riyadh by 2030. The project will be led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and will add $48 billion to the Saudi economy and create 334,000 jobs.
But not everyone is impressed by the Mukaab. Some critics have compared it to the Kaaba, the sacred black cube in Mecca that Muslims face when they pray. They have accused Saudi Arabia of disrespecting Islam and trying to create a “new Kaaba” for its own glory.
