Whats your current training plan and whats your daily calory demand? I thought about going keto, but couple things held me back. Like its harder to plan, you have to freeze a lot of meat and start defrosting it in time. With high carb its easier, pasta, rice and deep-fried vegetables are basically instantly accessible and need very little storage room. Also meat is very dense, and I was kinda afraid to eat too much becaue you feel hungrier after eating proteins compared to rice that contains the same amount of energy.

I've done many diets over the year, typically eating plenty of carbs, watching my SATURATED fats. But recently did keto, just to experiment. I was mind blown. It was almost beautiful, how quickly my body burned fat. Eventually I took it to far, until I had zero energy. Took a couple days to recover. I was eating less than 50 carbs a day. I'm not doing keto, but now I eat more keto oriented. I find it fun, what I learned
@bronxishomenomatterwhereig3149
Only explanation for the severe lack of energy. Is that you didn't get enough fats in your diet to replace the carbs. On keto diet, fat becomes your fuel source instead of the glucose from carbs. So you must be sure to get plenty of good fat in your diet if your gonna do keto

Something that most people fail to realize is that vegetables are carbohydrates. They're fibrous carbs instead of starchy carbs like a potato. But they're still carbs, and they still work. I basically did the opposite of every recommended dietary guideline floating around the fitness industry. Working out really hard, and not eating much at all. I lost zero strength, and lost a lot of body weight so in all actuality Just became a more efficient person. Would recommend to anybody that would like to at least "try" keto - supplement with actual electrolytes to avoid the rage and the cramping. Gatorade does not count. Sodium, magnesium, potassium.

This was bang in the middle of the period where natural fats were the worst thing you could possibly eat (remember how butter and eggs were supposed to be killers?) and the consensus was it was best to live a low-fat diet with artificial sweeteners and margarine. If margarine was a good thing, it wouldn't be so damn cheap, just compare it to the price of butter, insane difference! Our ancestors lived on natural fats for all their life and they lived much, much longer than us. The price of eating healthy in today's world is painfully high, especially for people from third world countries like myself (Turkey), in the middle of an economic crisis, I can't even afford to buy beef and fish anymore since 2 years, the prices are absolutely gone through the roof. All I've left is protein from legumes and once in a blue moon, chicken or turkey...

Just keep in mind that Arnold training HIGH volume. 30 or so sets for each muscle group, twice a week for each, also doing morning and evening splits. You burn like at least 1500 calories a day lifting, and not including resting metabolism, you can eat whatever you want as long as it's not empty carbs and sugars. Also, gear allows your body to metabolize 2 grams or more per pound of bodyweight in protein a day. If you aren't on gear, you can't eat like that.

Eating 12 a day is a huge shock to your system. The fact they ate low amounts of vegetables on top of that is also horrible. Arnold went through multiple heart surgeries and is basically vegan now. The low cycling helped them overall. Problem now is that they cycle all year long with maybe a 2-4 week break with all the new gear. Then eat these absurdly high calorie diets to get as big as possible, So even though they are eating pretty healthy meals, the overload is the killer.

It's ridiculous to think it could harm us. People have consumed up to 50 raw eggs a day with no problems. Vegetables are man made and do not exist in nature. We can't even utilize them properly as our bodies aren't designed to break them down. Why do you think we would require them? also Arnold took steroids if you didn't already know. It just reflect the era. Back then the ppl prepared 3 regular meals, with higher fatty things like bacon sausages lard butter and olive oil (I use avocado and coconut oils also, and I use acv and lemon juice in salads water and prep meats), then moderate proteins like black coffee, beans, eggs, fish, chicken, beef, turkey, and low carbohydrates, the complex carbs, like salads oatmeal cheeses and certain veggies. Fruits too, but rare. They did however eat simple carbs, yes, more so than athletes of that era. They didn't go with the fruit and soy yogurts lattes and smoothies like today. Then they changed the pyramid to high carbohydrates low fars and proteins round that time, and ppl adapted to this unhealthy unhappy diet ever since, with now salt soy and sugar added to everything unlike anything before. An Unjust attack on fats. 👎 😋

I believe the golden age of body building was the 70's & 80's. Hands down. I remember that protein shake from the mid 80's. Our football coach encouraged us to drink every morning before practice. It smelled bad and tasted worse. I took a sip and said no thank you! Some guys drank it all. At the end of practice, at 5 to 7 guys would throw up. No joke. I decided then and there I'm never drinking that stuff. No way. Into the 90's the protein shakes got way better in taste and texture. My favorites were vanilla & strawberry. Twin Labs was the most popular brand through out the late 80's, definitely through the 90's, and early 2K's. Mostly because Twin Labs promoted pure and natural resources for all their ingredients. They never sold their supplements in pills. Only in gelatin capsules. Pure. Pills require additives and binders for pills to hold their shapes. No clue who's top dog in the supplement business now a days. I'm guessing theirs a lot of different companies and choices now than ever before. PS: In the golden age of bodybuilding, Joe Weider was the father of bodybuilding. He was not only a bodybuilder himself, he also discovered and trained Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. Joe Weider trained a lot of the best known and memorable bodybuilders both men and women at that time. Joe Weider trained athletes from the golden age up to the mid 2K's. He was an important man in bodybuilding.

I've never knew that proteins shakes from mid 80's were worse.

The golden era guys might have been slightly smaller than today's competitors, but they looked more natural, as if they weren't on steroids or overly dehydrated.

If I take stuff it'll be multi vitamin and those disgusting emergenC powder drink packets 😂
