Loved the history. Would also like to know more about major spans, like the completion of I-70 in Colorado, where much of it had to be elevated in order to build out.

Its the most iconic because its survived longer then most new bridges and its what real bridges look like not made of cement and little iron bars even though its popular and iconic its needs to be treated better and adding a stupid $200,000,000 net isn't going to fix the other problem of this bridge like rust spots lack of painting stretch cables and so on
That's great additional info! It certainly has lasted a very long time and hopefully will last a lot longer! That's what's nice about steel is you can see when you have problems versus reinforced concrete, the rebar could be completely corroded inside and you might not be able to see it
