As an BIack American, I really loved this episode the people are so welcoming and warm. They smile and show kindness to the visitor. Why are the Ghanaians so friendly? They seem very happy. When I saw this episode I could feel the openness coming from the people. I have to put this country on my bucket list.

For what its worth, Asantes are a proud and extremely loyal people, to their Kingdom, King, traditions, culture, identity, etc. There is no way one can intimidate an Asante man or woman. Its in their very nature or I should say, DNA. It simply rubs off on every individual they come into contact with. And I must add that, the documentary we have watched now, although impressive, is not enough to tell the story of one of the greatest Kingdoms in the world. You need a whole episode on every aspect of their History. Am saying this as a 100% Akuapem woman.

Great documentary but this is quite biased, the Asantes did defeat the British in the first anglo-ashanti war in 1824-1831. The leader of the British forces which was Sir Charles Mccarthy was beheaded and his head was sent back to kumasi as a war trophy. Also in 1863 to 1864 British forces fought against the Asantes and lost bitterly. It was in the Sagrenti war which lasted from 1873-1874 that saw the defeat of the Asante kingdom. The British forces were led by Sir Garnet Wolseley.

Interesting thing is how there are countless documentaries on youtube about the British Royal Family and how noble, sweet, and kind Queen Victoria was and how honorable all her descendants are etc. They never show you all the horrible vile things the royal family did to people around the globe. The world needs to hold them accountable for all they have done. Even TODAY! They need to be held accountable.

The War of the Golden Stool was the 4th major war between the British and Asante. Asante won the first two and lost the last two. In 1874, Britain, then the World's Superpower, had to bring troops from all across West Africa, the Caribbean and India, before they could defeat the Asante. Asante invented guerrilla warfare.

When I visited Goree Island (in Senegal) where slaves were kept before being moved to the western countries, I found out that the ENSLAVED WOMEN were chained down even during transportation, due to their enormous strength and power. Black women are naturally powerful beings, even when enslaved.

I am an Akan and it makes me proud when other people eat my staple food Fufuo/fufu with the liquid soups in the right way but to sabotage and replace it with other doughy foods simply because it looks similar is unacceptable. As a matter of fact it's time all other tribes in Ghana acknowledge the BRAVERY, LOVE, UNDERSTANDING, and the UNITY of the Ashanti Kingdom to a broader perspective to the the entire nation of Ghana. We African Americans are of the African Continent. Only difference is where your boat docked, USA, Spain, Haiti, Bahamas, other Coastal regions. We look like these people, we love vibrant color, we in Detroit, Chicago, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, California, N/S Carolinas, over the USA, we of the continent and only way they can tell us is when we speak, that is how they tell we are from elsewhere (and maybe by our clothing). I am aware that there are brown people in America before Columbus, so some may have that lineage, but even there forefathers came from the motherland. I have roots in Cameroon West Africa.

I could listen to these masters and their tales and legends all day and the cultural parallels to many parts of North American African American culture today are completely stunning!
