On a recent visit to review the new ID.3, we came across the not so well known precurser to VW electric cars, the City STROMer! A Mk2 Golf!

Wow! Great video to document this historic EV. This must be the City Stromer that was owned by Nikki (Transport Evolved YT channel). She had a RHD model, and did sell it back to VW IIRC. I believe it was the only RHD one left when she sold it. These cars were build by VW, not converted by the aftermarket. Very rare and historic.

@@donaskuliauskas2278 Not sure where you got that idea. My comment was about one historic EV, Nikki’s VW City Stromer. I don’t expect (or “want”) all cars to be electric in the future. Many people still keep horses for recreation and sport. I would be shocked if some ICE cars are not still produced for these reasons in the future.

As an ex-BBC (Auntie) employee, I was curious about the BBC sticker on the box under the bonnet. Closer examination revealed it stood for Brown Boveri, a Swiss electical engineering company. Ah, I see, I thought. Then I noticed that in 1988, the name changed again following a merger (of Swedish ASEA and Swiss BBC) to ASEA Brown Boveri. Shortened to ABB Inc. in recent years, you now find their logo on their EV rapid chargers.

The first electric car was invented in 1884, how far ahead of their time were they by doing one 100 years later? Now it's making more EVs than ever, it can't sell them and they're sitting in graveyards waiting for buyers, they burn during shipping, and VW has an extra £200b of debt added to the £180b it already had. What's amazing? you can only see the ordinary 1985 car and a different shaped motor cover, how did it perform? and why did it die?

The problem with falling in love with old cars for me is remembering that it’s not about the car, it’s about the memories I made when I was younger on road trips. Owning classic cars today won’t bring back the past.
