Same it would be nice to have variations. Like you can pick what type of chain attack happens and its effect similar to a fighting game like marvel vs capcom

I have this question! PLEASE REPLY!! In honkai 3rd combat, i felt that once you get ur team together you just need to do a certain rotation perfectly again n again to perform damage, without using ur brain much. So in zenless is it the same? Or we really have to use different ways n combos to defeat enemies and use our brain a bit? Are we challenged to figure out different play styles for each enemies or its same like honkai where u just repeat the same perfect combo again n again?

I honestly didn't really like the combat in ZZZ as much as I thought I wouldn't. It leans towards being a character/J-action game like Devil May Cry, but it doesn't go all the way with it. You have alternate combo routes, but its utility of those routes are either passive and don't allow for cool follow-ups like juggles or air combos. There's very few moves available for each character overall and the lack of jumping or ani-cancles makes the game feel stale overtime. I'm still looking to give this game a shot when it comes out, but man: I really feel like Hoyoverse wasted their potential with this one and too afraid to make a combat system for hardcore players to really sink their teeth into.

Same I really hope they decide to lean harder into that, it's really what's appealing me to ZZZ rn and I'd be kinda disappointed if they wasted that time and effort they're putting into doing alt combos and not give cool incentives to use them Edit: actually i wanna stick around for the first survey and beyond so I can throw this advice and harass them with it until they do lol (kindly ofc)

I understand your points and agree with some the best thing about this overall is that's its a hoyoverse game if anyone has the budget and ability to give people want they it's their deep pockets. I am looking forward to see how more insane characters get with time as I feel that will be the biggest telling. As right now they do seem on the more tamed side but if you mixed multiple styles together I think stuff can get rather interesting. No Jumping really does more alot of the air combo fun and there is no way to fix that but I am optimistic since I know hoyoverse has the budget to make drastic changes. Not many gaming companies can do that

Interestingly in the recent roundtable, zzz producer (ZYL) had a talk with the SF6 producers and he mentioned how their focus is to strengthen the foundation of the game so as to allow players (esp casuals and ones new to fighting game) to adapt to their learning curve and eventually reach a point where they will feel confident enough to tackle the harder contents of the game. I believe going forward from 1.1 they will be releasing higher difficulty content as 1.0 is more of an introduction phase for the general playerbase to get a feel of the game.

Do you ever feel bored (once the flashiness and novelty runs out) with character combos (and only combos) even though there is variety like you mentioned (pausing before final press, pressing to a rhythm, etc.)? That's my biggest worry for me

I did at some points yes. This was during the early parts of the game where I didn't feel challenged too much and was already not enjoying the TV mode too much.

Just finished watching the zzz showcase and was recommended this video about the combat. I saw a lot of comments about the bosses being just hp sponges, just standing there/not moving around much and seems to just let you hit them. I think they probably just showcased a little to not spoil too much of the mechanics, but thats just my opinion.

Coming from Genshin, I kind of like that the identity of the ultimate/energy funneling system has pushed away from cooldown based rotations. As much fun as it is to theorycraft a good rotation in genshin, the execution often boils down to E-Q-swap-E-Q-swap-E-Q-swap-E-Q, with some variation. Each ult in that rotation locks you down for quite some time in frozen animations. But in ZZZ, they've actually done a lot to make sure all of your base kit feels more accessible, without being locked down to cooldowns. I think a major component of this, is that they've definitely repurposed the production budget of an ultimate into a character's E. Which, again, I think is a win! It would be good to see future characters attempt to do something different with ultimates, but they definitely feel like they're pushing towards ults feeling like a 'choice' between each of your characters. Example: You have your ult. Should you use it on your stun character to stagger the boss? Or are you close enough to a full stagger, that you're willing to save it for your hypercarry? There is a slight problem to everything I just said, which is that if some characters rely on their ultimate (soldier 11), then the door is opened for Hoyo to 'sell you a solution'. A lot of her dupes seem focused on bypassing, or at least extending the value of your ultimate mechanic. I could be wrong about that, but I think it's a concern when it comes to the overall downside of something like shared ults. Overall though, I think how they've handled Skills/Ults is way more engaging! At the very least, let's hope future characters ults don't look/feel like pure 'reskins' of their skills. That takes away a lot of the spectacle.

If you mean by soldier 11's ult being a flame infusion, then you don't really need to ult. She has a mechanic where certain combos gives her infusion so her ult is just an option to give her instant infusion

I think ultimate as a choice would work fine if they had a bit more combat options or combos right now it feels like not enough for that to be a viable choice. Either that or bosses become a lot more aggressive and dodge counter which is already very strong(highest dps option for certain characters like soldier 11,nekomata and etc) and make this more viable since only a few bosses attack enough for this gameplay to work out.

I'm super interested in Soldier 11 because I think the extra damage with timed presses is interesting, but it sucks that her team comp potential is so limiting at launch considering I'll probably only ever be just a light spender. Also the chance to get Happy Birthday'd is pretty funny to me. In Wuthering Waves, when you swap out a character that's doing a long animation move, they actually become invincible. I guess in that game only the current controllable character can be hurt, but not in this game. I kind of like it but I also feel like it's going to kill me a lot lol. Also when you parry those multi-hit moves, do you have to press an input for each hit (like Third Strike) or does it just automatically do it after you successfully parry the first hit?

Great questions! First off staring with solider 11 I Fucking love her and once she gets a proper team she will be totally my favorite of the starting line up! Right now it’s Rina > Nekomata > Soldier 11 as my 3 favorite 5* standard characters. She works great with Ben but he not my personal favorite in terms of design or playstyle so I’m looking for something different for her to shine. Yeah I’ve died so many times from characters exploding on screen to the point I originally had it as a negative but I think it good since it adds skill to the game. Parry is one click unfortunately I wish it was for each attack that would make it feel even better! But we are limited to 5 total so it wouldn’t work out in the case of the video unless I was regaining them mid parry or something.

9:40 I have no context for this "Happy birthday" comment, can you elaborate? Can you use the skill bar for anything else than to enhance your skill to the EX variant? The first segment of the skill bar looks a lot shorter than the second segment, does that encourage you to spam skill and not let it charge for multiple bars or is that just a visual thing? How hard is it to parry? I've never learned to parry in From Solfware games and always preferred to use a shield instead.

Happy birthday is a Fighting game term from marvel vs capcom. Where an assist character gets hit and combo generally resulting in their death while you have a point character as you can see with my Nicole who dies while I have Ellen in control. Skill bar is solely for EX skills. The first segment is how much is required to cast the EX Special attack and will be consumed on cast. if you have enough to cast back to back you can. The perfect assist just requires you hit the assist button on the yellow light that appears. On some bosses/elite enemy attacks

They already did the jumping thing in Honkai Impact and Genshin so i don't think it's a big deal there isn't a combo route for jumping plus this ain't the first game that has no jumping in gacha games/rougelike games PGR also did this not comparing but i just think that they're going through that route

I saw the Theory crafter tell what kind of story in Zzz. It has good story (Almost identical to Adam and eve story, some portions in Greek Mythology)

the music and story will obviously be way better in hoyo games, WW rn has such forgettable music, while the story is a convoluted mess and alot of things just doesn't make cause they overcomplicate it so much with jargons, The only thing Kuro games does better usually is the combat, I wish hoyoverse would do the same.

I play both personally and will keep playing both. As long as they are entertaining to me. I don't plan on spending much in each either so that I can keep the game interesting for me rather than throwing my wallet at the screen so I can explode bosses in seconds.

Maybe i've gotten older or something but when someone posted a few pictures of the changes to nicole I didn't notice it unless it was certain angles (then it was super obvious). I don't think its that big of a deal but I understand some people don't like that similar to stellar blade. Just remember these are companies at the end of the day and they try to push a certain mindset and goal with their products.
