This is exactly how I am with my lunch and have been for my entire life since I was in kindergarten. Having a peanut butter and fluff sandwich was very important to me and I didn't want anything else except for under very rare circumstances like field trips or when my family bought miniature bagels from the grocery store. As I got to college, my midday palate expanded, but I am still very rigorous in my lunchtime endeavor; I am 100% with Shaun on that.
As a person with mild Autism myself, any kind of noise can be a huge distraction, as autism causes hypersensitivity to noises. Imagine that you’re talking to someone, your brain filters out all outside noises, but with autism that filter isn’t there and you hear and contemplate everything
@@barelmaker I have low functioning autism and this is me, bad thing is, that filtering of noise, it's a 2 way street for me, I sometimes block out certain noises unintentionally, and miss what is said, as well as have very short memory as well, not the best combination
@@noduh8377 It can be considered a bad habit to type this way. I mean, its the internet and you can do what you want of course. Just saying its grammatically incorrect.
Ever I’m sorry, but the way you’re spelling “it’s” is grammatically incorrect, too. “Its” would mean something in something else’s possession (or something like that), while “it’s” means “it is”; from what I can see, you mean “it’s” and not “its”.
I have that so often lmao I’m not autistic, I have adhd but I will gag if there’s a weird unwanted texture and may meltdown when I’m feeling extra overstimulated
@@V_098 hey ive never been diagnosed but does this sound like adhd? I have a meltdown at certain textures and sometimes need to puke, im always really hyper and I cant focus at anything, when im bored i make sounds or talk and cant control myself.
@@ellencraig4583 the things you stated indicate you may have it. I suggest getting a referral to be sure and not to self diagnose (not saying you would but just putting it out there) :)
I'm autistic as well I do the same thing with food if I taste or see something I don't like I throw it away and yeah I do take the stuff I don't like off. And yeah I do react like that when I try to eat something and it has something in it I don't like
This is so relatable oh my god 😂 on bad days the buzzing of lights can really bother me. I’ve often heard lightbulbs doing this when they’re going a bit dodgy or if it’s fluorescents. There’s even a light switch in my house that makes a surprisingly loud buzzing noise. Weirdest thing though isn’t a light, it was when my neighbours put out one of those cat scared noise emitters and I don’t know about the cats but it REALLY bothered me. Almost no one else could hear it.
For people who dont know, people with autism are hypersensitive to a few things, such as sound (mostly the electrical glitches that lights/lamps have, normal people cant hear it but for them, it's like a big speaker is placed right near their ear with blasting sound, imagine the screeching sound of a chalk directly near ur ear, it irritates them, until u fix it, if not dont quickly they could act up
I can SO relate to Shawn. Nearly wetted myself from laughter when he said the time he always eat because i always eat at the same time too. I am also rather sensetive when i get my lunch too late but i managed to train myself to eat the last bit of my apple on said time if there is a moment when i can't get my lunch in time. Eating the last piece of my apple from my morning snack often prevents meltdowns from getting my lunch late.
I get it. It's not the same, but I get anxious if I don't eat or drink on my favorite plate and mug. When I was younger I had a meltdown because we had a visit and my mom gave my mug to one of her friends... it's thing that feel meaningless to the others but feel like such a big deal for yourself.
@@salthesalmonshark6849 i also have my favorite bowls or mugs or cups. My mom often had to tell me that the cup which had my favorite color was with the dishes so i could be prepered for if i drank in a cup with a differend color. I also have specific bowls for porridge or popcorn or chips. Porridge in microwave friendly bowls and snacks in movie themed bowls.
This is like me at work, when I have a specific time for my ten minute break depending on the shift. I'm not even diagnosed, I just find it fascinating. One time I had a meltdown because of it.
His breakdown in the emergency always annoyed me. He brought up the issue multiple times with no solution. I as a patient, have left a hospital earlier than I was meant to, now twice, from being unable to deal with the lights themselves in combination with a few buzzing loudly... disagree with me as much as you want (I understand the finance issues) but I really can't blame him for that even if I tried
@@savetheoceans1281 well it is possible. I was diagnosed with ADHD and autism at a young age in my life. Autism is a developmental disorder, I was born 24 weeks premature and had a low chance of surviving but high risk of having developmental issues. The kind of autism I have affects my brain, my mood and even some of my fine and gross motor skills have been affected. The ADHD is what causes me to have behavioral problems and it’s moderate. When I get flustered or angry, I start to throw things around and have emotional outbursts. So yes, it’s possible to have both autism and ADHD.
@@katherineruppelius2580 wow, 24 weeks that is awesome you are living. I remember one 24 weeker in the NICU with my daughter the baby was 1 lbs. 1 oz.. That was almost 23 years ago at that time they had the record for saving the smallest baby at 12 ounces. Hope you are doing well, autism and adhd make life harder, but life is still good 😁
@@mp5249 I weighed 1 lbs and 10 oz. My life is harder with my disabilities but with God on my side I won’t fall. I hope you’re doing well too. God bless you! 😅💕
Dr Murphy: takes out tissue and oranges. he then takes out the sandwich and bites* him thinking: o shitttttttttt, the pickle. his action: puts the sandwich back and finds a dust bin.
In the quarantine episode not even a single doc, resident or even a nurse thought that why shaun was looking at the blinking lights again and again and wasnt able to answer. Really yall? XD
Most professions have barely any experience with autistic people only person who might maybe understand him would be a psychiatrist in the hospital but I don't know
Yeah when you're autistic senses are everything even with light autism like Asperger's I should know I have it sounds can cause enormous annoyance and distraction
@@cdeer17 fluorescent lights are the devil. The buzzing is horrible but the light from them is migraine inducing. Everyone in my family gets migraines from them. Very few employers don't have fluorescent lights.
I'm diabetic, for more than 50 years. Food on time matters for keeping my mind working. A banana is not lunch, but will keep your blood sugar up for an hour or more, especially a whole banana.
Listen, as someone dealing with the same problems as shaun i can tell you that the sand which was thrown out because the pickle was on the sand which, pickles are gross so the sandwich is no longer a viable option for eating. It would be very nasty and unbearable to do something like that and ive done the same in the past
Dude just take out the pickles off you won't tell the difference. I hate pickles to man but I also take them off and I eat the sandwich regardless what it has
