Without the good shepherd nuns,thousands of Irish children would have been homeless and destitute, my great grandmother and her sister were residents of the good shepherd convent when their mother died young , they were educated by the nuns my great grandmother daughter became a very successful business woman in cork in the 20s 30s and 40s. Her name was Molly Owens and she was able to rear 14 children,she was also a friend of Eamonn De Valera President of Ireland
