Preach, brothers! I’m trying to play a game where my skills and the strategies I employ are the reasons I won or lost. I have no interest in entering a coin flipping competition.

I think short-term RNG is fine as long as there is a long-term solution/work-around. For example if I have an incredibly low chance to pull a specific void champion, I would like an alternate way to get 1 specific void champion I want. Whales can still pull every good void lego due to just mass quantity of shards, but it would be nice to spend a year working through a system that would allow me to get a krisk, for example. Edit to add something I just realized is rather important: It should not be possible to get every single good champion, and certainly not in a short time period. That is a game killer. Look at games like Eternal Evolution - it feels really good to be able to get literally every good champion that comes out right away, but then the game becomes boring and stagnant and players leave. Second point I'd like to make is that menial repetitive tasks such as farming gear should not have any RNG involved. That's one of the main reasons the "3%" feels so bad.

This was a very Raid-heavy conversation. To be honest, it made me zone out a few times. But some good points overall. It shows you are giving RNG some serious thought.

All the RNG behind armor really bothers me. There being no system to upgrade an okay piece of gear to great, or to swap or increase substats just seems disrespectful of my time. If I grind for days and get no gear, at least let me use scraps from selling or dismantling gear to upgrade what I do have.

Good RNG is the ability to positively affect things like high rolls on gear (speed glyphs etc) and bad RNG is negatively affecting rolls like silver rolls for gear

I would remove a massive amount of RNG from the game. I prefer making methods available for players to attain what they need through work/grinding (or spending as an alternate method if they so choose). I realize that stats on gear require a certain level of RNG though I would love specific dungeons dedicated to dropping gear that was guaranteed a specific stat. Speed dungeons for example would have a speed stat on every drop. Thus allowing you some control over what you'd like to farm.

One of my worst experiences in a game with RNG was always in Hearthstone. Its never a good feeling if you play a card with "get a random minion" or "play 5 random spells" and the outcome benefits your opponent more and kills your chances of winning the match. having no control in a game is always a bad taste.

I don't actually have an issue with some rng. We need it on gear drops and stat rolls or we will have no reason to grind if we are guaranteed specific stats on every set. I also don't have a problem with the 3% in PvP as it does give that underdog the slightest hope when going into a fight that is otherwise sitting there knowing you have won/lost before a blow is exchanged. Many people actually get a dope hit from a lucky win, and many hate not having FULL control. Having full control is also a fallacy. If you have better/worse champs and/or gear under a system where there is no rng and not a normalised arena then you have won/lost the moment you enter. What control do you have over someone else's account? So imo that David v Goliath moment is well worth having. However, I do agree with egregious rng like sheep and fear procs, so just get rid of them 100% I see absolutely no reason to have any form of rng in PvE content outside the affinity system where you can strong/weak hit. As it was said, you know the affinity, so bring champs accordingly. Good/bad rng is a matter of opinion, so who is correct? You are, because you love, hate or don't care according to your personality type. So all those who agree with my point is right, and all those who don't are right for them too. Those who really don't care would not be bothered to comment at all and that's right for them also.

Having a chance of something failing especially in pvp can be good because it keeps things interesting rather than I've done this thing now i can't lose or it's been done to me now i can't win there's an aspect of chance that keeps you on your toes or gives hope.

My concern with RNG though I know it is necessary/needed when you have RNG to get a character then aRNG for gear then rolling stats on and on RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG

Good RNG & bad RNG. Some games show the dice roll. Maybe seeing the RNG is what makes gaming exciting? For me it is a must, good & bad. That one in a million chance...I could not disagree more with Saph if I tried, the Taffy bar steward.

There's always the argument that if you give the people what they want too easily they get bored. And i gotta tell you I got my first quad roll speed on a high elves banner. And the level of euphoria I felt was near orgasmic lmfao

I didn't play Raid very long, but the "affinity" issue you spoke of I saw in Dragonheir-Silent Gods as well. In fact it changed every season so that some of your heroes would become less valuable as they increased RNG each time. Too many details and nothing really in your control unless you have the right "team" at the right time. Too much farming lol Gear was based on same pricipals. RNG was not something I look forward to.

If you see a 400k power paragon in classic arena just don’t fight it 😂 Or use a stun set. There are other ways to beat it than fighting it for 10 minutes praying/waiting for your 3% RNG swing.

Personally, raid hits the out of combat (gear, hero, etc...).RNG, just about right, but there is too much RNG in PvP especially. Sheep, reaction, stonskin stripping, etc...

This has been the first fateless post to give me pause, I wish you had found another member who wasn't such a baby about the rng, it seemed brad was a little more neutral, but if raid followed all your complaints it would get extremely boring. Also fu shan is an incredible first lego to pull, aoe crowd control speed aura and massive damage...

@ArmenVendetta They haven't given a month yet, but I belive they said late summer of next year, so presumably July/Aug of 25 if no delays (fingers crossed, they seem on a good pace)

3 percent in areas like hydra clash are too punishing. 60 plus mins into your 3rd (or more) attempt for a SINGLE key and provoke misses, or block bluffs misses. like thats basically an instant quit. Except your clan is counting on your keys, so you dont quit lol. Also there should be a tangible way for every player to obtain all the champs. sure brut force shard pulling could be ONE of the ways. But think like doom tower rewards, arbiter/ramantu/marrius.. ect. Except you keep getting new champs that you dont already have. It just sucks not being to participate in certain content because youre lacking the champs and the only remedy to spend 10's of thousands of dollars (and potentially still not get the desired result)

I really disagree about some rng not feeling good or bad. I think in all pvp examples of rng there is someone that hates it and someone that loves it. For helmsmasher sure it feels awesome that you got it and can win now. But the other guy just lost the fight on a 50/50 chance. My Armanz getting resisted by a georgid feels REAL bad but the other guy is thanking god. Rng doesn’t belong in truly competitive games

The fact that things like RNG and 'pain points' exist in these game to FORCE people to either spend or stop playing has got to be one of the scummiest business models created. Just more cash grabbing.

In Diablo Immortal, there is plenty of game play that is available for FTP or low spenders. But PVP is the realm of the whales, and FTP players will never have a chance to compete. But that's ok. The whales keep the game alive for the FTP players, and there are few instances of being forced into PVP. In those cases, you just accept that's the price of being able to play the game for free
