Great reaction! One of the absolute best all-ages adventure movies ever made. Full stop, no argument. This is a movie anyone can watch and enjoy if they're kids or at least remember the excitement of adventures as a kid. The cast was brilliant, the story was brilliant, and the whole thing was brilliant. It still makes me sad that they built this entire ship for the movie, and when it was over they tried to find a home for it, tried to give it away, but no takers. It was busted up for scrap. Seriously sad. But I loved that they hid it from the kids (excluding Feldman who I think stumbled into seeing it early) until they shot the scene so that was their real reactions to it. I'd have been impressed as heck too to see that towering over me. 😲 The late John Matuszak, former NFL defensive lineman, played the role of Sloth and had fun with it. He died before he was 40, which is a shame, but he had both health and substance issues which contributed to that early end. Joey Pants and Robert Davi played great roles as the brothers in the movie. Anne Ramsay was great as Mama Fratelli too. In the scenes where Mama whacks Jake, she was directed to actually hit Robert Davi as hard as she could for realism. 😀 And I was always impressed by Jake's singing voice, which I figured was dubbed in, but I found out later that Davi had actually been classically trained for opera singing. It also amused me when I learned that the woman who plays Rosalita, and who is American born and fluent in both English and Spanish, helped Corey Feldman learn how to say the properly lines where he's leading her around the house, "translating" for her. She was also amazing and perfect in her role. I just love watching her react to the events in the crazy house. 😀

There were bicycles back then that didn't have free spinning peddle shafts, so the peddle crank shaft was connected to the rear wheel via the chain... and the faster you can peddle the faster the rear wheel spun... same way backwards, the faster the rear wheel spun the faster the peddle shaft was forced to spin.. this is why dude was peddling when the car sped up, not that he wanted to, but because he couldn't move his feet off the peddles at the time

So, here’s some trivia (behind the scenes) stuff about the movie. Scenes with the house, the county jail, and the house with Sean Austin’s “father”in front of it are located in a town in Oregon (I forgot what city, but they’re all located in the same town). The county jail is a movie history museum of the town, where they name what movies have been filmed there as well as props from those movies. Up till maybe 5/6 + years ago, you could walk up the the houses in the boondocks and take pictures. The jail and the house where we see Sean Austin’s father are actually located across the street from each other. And the house is actually another museum. Anyway, sorry for spewing out all this info, but I find some of the behind the scene stuff interesting. Thanks.

During the summer, we'd be off on our bikes at the crack of dawn, and as long as we were home by dinner time or the street lights came on, we were good. Our parents had little to no idea where we went or what we got up to. Including roaming drainage tunnels and wooded areas.

Saw this in the theatre last year. It was a treat to watch it with others. One guy was busting a gut with sloth and chunck saying "hey you guys."

So here’s something cool, the house in this movie was getting renovated by my Great uncle and was approached by some Hollywood peeps to be used in a movie, this movie. Since they borrowed use of that house we got to keep some props they used like several of the statue that got it’s… well… dong broken off my Great aunt still has them around somewhere. Oh also my dad told me that the hand holding the coin at 8:48 also was my uncles hand, I guess they thought his grubby beat up hand looked the part!

A GREAT kid‘s adventure movie! The pirate ship „The Inferno“ was built using the design from the 1940 Errol Flynn movie „The Sea Hawk“. The ship was certified sea worthy by the US Coast Guard and could have been sailed. The ship was destroyed after filming as no one wanted to claim the vessel. I remember seeing an ad in a Spokane newspaper in 1989 or 90 which had the ship up for sale. Guess there were no takers as the ship was 105ft long and would have needed a large crew to man her. But what a sight she would have been…… Cheers

Can confirm, as a kid in the 80s we all spoke like this. Constant swearing and talking over each other.

1st Fun Fact: The House you see is actually located in Astoria, OR. The House is still there and lived in. They unfortunately had to put additional signs and a fence up to keep Goonies fans out of the yard because most people didn't realize it's actually someone's home. 2nd Fun Fact: Some of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Kindergarten Cop" was also partially filmed in Astoria, OR.

Funny thing. As we know, Ke Huy Quan didn't star in much after the 80's. In the past 20 years, he'd only been in two movies, last year's Everything Everywhere all at Once and one that everyone should find, 2021's Finding Ohana. Not only was this movie his return to acting, but is a Hawaiian version of Goonies. Not a classic, but it really is a sweet movie.

If you guys haven't watched it yet, I recommend Monster Squad! ^^ It's like if The Goonies had a Halloween sequel. Either way, I'm super psyched you guys watched this. Loved this movie since I was a kid (born in '85). Cheers, mateys!

Fun fact: an animated series of the Goonies was in development in 1997, but was ultimately shelved. More recently, a kinda remake is in development for Disney+, called Our Time.

As a 70's baby and an 80's kid, Goonies and E.T. more than any other movies of the day captured the Fun and Essence of 80's kids PERFECTLY. We were Inquisitive and Adventurous, we rode our Bikes Everywhere, we only stayed home to watch cartoons, the Rest of the time we were Outside with our friends! I was the Sean Astin of my group, well Part him and part Chunk tbh. The World wasn't Viewed on a smartphone or laptop...you Had to Go OUT and Explore it, See it for yourself. We Made Our Own FUN and didn't Depend on Mass Media to Entertain Us 24/7, We had No Social Media as we Had to go OUTSIDE to Be Social. But one of the things that Hasn't changed since then...Kids apart from the Technology...are Still the Same Kinda Kids TODAY as we were back then. I look at the kids at the bus stop when I take the 6yr old to wait for the school bus...and I See the Same Personalities. Really in the few instances in Today's films and shows that Try to Nail that 80's feel, only Stranger Things has managed to get the CLOSEST if not Spot On to nailing the era. Everything else has Failed to do so. Even though I'm 49 now, the Goonies MAKES ME FEEL YOUNG. At Heart at least. Because even though the Goonies Characters are Unique...I SEE People I KNOW in them, from the kids to their Parents, I KNOW these characters because These characters were...Are US 80's kids. The 80's as far as I am concerned is The GREATEST Era in Film history hands down...there has been No Equal to it since. It inspired the Greats FUN, the Greatest Action, the Greatest Comedy, the Greatest Horror and the Greatest Sci Fi and Drama. Because it was ALL NEW. All One Offs, All Special because of the Rarity and VARIETY. The Greatest Era of FULFILLMENT in FUN and EXPERIENCE so far. Everything since has been a greater focus on Sequels and Reboots and Reimaginings with Fewer and Fewer stand Out, Stand Alone stories. Like Big Trouble in Little China...I DON'T and DO at the same time, WANT a Sequel....but that Magic Couldn't be Recaptured I don't think and it's a PERFECTLY REWATCHABLE story that Really, Like the Goonies, NEVER GETS OLD.

So many lines from this that me and my brother and friends have been quoting for over 30 years now. When someone says the wrong word you'd reply with "that's what I said I'm setting booby traps." Someone has to pee " hey Mikey gotta go to the bathroom" And of course "hey you guys" was the most used out of all of them.
