We've camped at Goose River twice, once upstairs and once downstairs :) Both were incredible experiences. Can't wait to do the new trail, it looks amazing. Thanks for sharing this!!
Great and educational video! I've got GR4 booked for a family trip with our 6 year old coming up. We've done backcountry trips out west, but this would be our first one in the East and it is good to get a feel for the terrain. Hopefully we all make it ok!
As my dad used to say to me"What did you do with the money we gave you for singing lessons?" LOL It's about having a good time and you certainly were! I enjoy your hikes and hope to see more!Wish I lived closer, mice trail! Thanks for your extra work to bring these to us!
Watching this video brought back some childhood memories. Not of the Fundy National Park. Lol I am from Maine and we would visit my grandparents in Lubec when I was really young. My grandfather had a farm that backed up to the beach in Quoddy Narrows. Dug up lots of clams on that beach. We liked to visited the west quoddy head lighthouse, looking out towards NS, and Campobello Island. Such a beautiful area.
Very nice video! New trails are extremely rare, especially in the US. The US forestry service has enough trouble maintaining all the trails now and more trails is the last thing they want.
As a newbie to backcountry camping, I HUGELY appreciated your video and all of the insight you gave along the way. It has quelled a lot of my fears! There are advisories about the beginning of the trail being 2km of steep uphill climbing. I'm assuming it's still trail like we saw in the rest of your video (not climbing boulders or anything like that?)
Just found your channel- I’m a new subscriber :). Really enjoyed seeing the area and your singing :) Looking forward to catching up your prior hikes -😊
@@HowestheHike We've been to Acadia N P in Maine before, but look forward to seeing more of your neck of the woods in your videos - would be fun to make another trip to area - wasn't familiar with the Fundy Trail- thanks :)
Great video, new to hiking and planning on doing the Goose River Trail mid summer in preparation for the footpath late summer... How long did it take you to hike one way? Would a round trip (20K) be doable in one day or should we plan an overnight?
Great video!!! Doing this trail in mid July. Lots of water sources on the trail? I'd like to go without my backpack water bladder and just take a bottle and filter, will I be ok?
Excellent video Stuart, clean shots and interesting commentary! I have a few questions though, from Ontario and will surely be visiting new Brunswick next spring and wanted to ask how do you reserve those noted campsites, #4 seems ideal! Plus, I noticed you had what appeared to be a Garmin device in your tent, do you find them helpful on such a trail? Would you recommend the one you are carrying! And last question, I heard nova Scotia has few bears, does this park have many to be concerned with as you !mentioned hanging ur food from trees! In central Ontario they can be many and an issue at times! Thanks again in putting together a wonderful video.
Hi Robert - thanks so much! Those campsites are reserved on the Parks Canada website. Very easy to do. Yes, I have a Garmin inreach explorer + and use it only for 2 way text communications, and to allow family to track me in real time. No need for it at all for route finding on trails like this.Lots of black bears in NB, but I've never seen one on any hikes since I was 6 years old. I do hang however - just I case - and for the rats, raccoons and other "mini bears" who are looking for a snack.
Thanks so much! I'm not sure how fast you walk so that's very difficult to to say. But at a leisurely pace of 3 ~ ish km/h it would be in the vicinity three hours out and three hours back. Have fun!
That's a great question. It would depend on whether or not they still use it as access on their four wheelers for trail maintenance and campsite maintenance. If so, that means they would keep the Deadful to a minimum to allow motorized access. And it wouldn't surprise me if that's what they do. That said I would always ask the park office if it's OK!
