Wow. I am a new Christian, and never knew so many found the Gospel repulsive. I knew other religions reject it but never heard that people hated the free gift of salvation in the sense you mentioned. Salvation in Christ is our only hope, how can this be hated so?
@mannbradmusic
@mannbradmusic 2 года назад
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and to answer your question, many people hate the true Gospel, because it shows them that they're guilty before a God who is perfectly holy and pure and they don't want to change the way they live. Also, several times in the Gospels, Jesus Himself makes it clear that if you're truly following Him, you'll be hated by the world and in 1 Corinthians 1:18, the apostle Paul declares that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but for us who are saved, it is the power of God.
@AarmOZ84
@AarmOZ84 2 года назад
If you don't realize how fallen you are in sin, the idea someone had to die in order to pay satisfaction on your behalf can only be repulsive. You have to acknowledge the problem before you are willing to accept the only cure.

Why are so many people deconstructing ? Friends, family , fellow students , pastors ? It still shocks me how people can seem to have found Christ and biblical truth then suddenly decide to throw it all away. It makes me hold unto Christ even tighter. I’ve never seen this before.
@mariosangermano5709

The reason so many are deconstructing or leaving the faith is because they were never born again to begin with. They were never converted. They had a said faith, not a real one. They went out from us because they were not of us. They went out that they may be exposed. Jesus said, depart from Me I NEVER knew you. They were the Rocky soil spoken of in Jesus' parables.

It's funny that someone uses the "Jewish lens" and completely ignores the Old Testament. Jesus did not come to start a new religion is true but he did not come to say all paths lead to God. Jesus is the Jewish messiah who came to redeem the Jewish people and the whole world through his blood. We are grafted into the chosen people of God as we serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

A lot of Jews are coming to faith in Jesus as Messiah because of their ministry among others. Not all Jews rejected Christ. At the time of Rome destroying the second temple there were approximately 1 million Jewish believers. 11 “In that case, I say, isn’t it that they have stumbled with the result that they have permanently fallen away?” Heaven forbid! Quite the contrary, it is by means of their stumbling that the deliverance has come to the Gentiles, in order to provoke them to jealousy. 12 Moreover, if their stumbling is bringing riches to the world - that is, if Isra’el’s being placed temporarily in a condition less favored than that of the Gentiles is bringing riches to the latter - how much greater riches will Isra’el in its fullness bring them! 13 However, to those of you who are Gentiles I say this: since I myself am an emissary sent to the Gentiles, I make known the importance of my work 14 in the hope that somehow I may provoke some of my own people to jealousy and save some of them! 15 For if their casting Yeshua aside means reconciliation for the world, what will their accepting him mean? It’s the cross vs the tower of Babel. We either understand and confess that we’re hopelessly lost on our own and come to God on HIS terms, or we refuse to abdicate the throne, spit on God’s grace and say “we’re cool, we can handle this.” Humility vs pride. It’s an ancient story and there’s nothing progressive about it, unless you mean it like: “your cancer is progressing”.

You're absolutely right! The true Gospel does indeed divide and what you've said reminds me of Matthew 10:34-36, where we're warned by Jesus Himself not to think that He has come to bring peace on Earth. He came not to bring peace, but a sword. He has come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law and a man's foes will be those of his own household. Also, in Matthew 25, verses 31 and following, He describes what will happen when He comes back and if you take some time to read and study that passage, you'll see the picture.

We really have only two options. One, I save myself by adding my good works to Jesus Christ's one-time offering of Himself, to attempt to appease God. This is obvious in Roman Catholicism, and somewhat less obvious in most of so-called Protestantism. Two, I humble myself to accept Christ Jesus' free gift, knowing anything I may attempt to add is a slap to His face. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us... Tit 3:5

Thinking back, I can't think of a single moment where they ever actually talk in their videos about how Christ's death was for the Atonement of Sin, in taking on himself the Wrath of God for them. All I've heard from them is how the Jesus movement presents a new kingdom of healing, and change. Much like a political movement meant for today and the here-and-now. Oops. Thanks.

The Six Line Grecko ROMAN Narrative? McClarin doesn't understand either ancient Jewish culture or ancient Roman culture. The first premise of the Gospel (that God created the world good) goes against the hellenistic philosophies of the Romans in the first century. They believed that this physical world was bad, evil, and gross, and that the spiritual world was good and clean. This is why so many people had a problem with Jesus being fully God and fully man. How could God take on flesh? For flesh is gross. This is why Marcion of Sinope said that the Jewish God was an evil god who created the world, but Jesus was from the good god to save the evil world his opponent had created. This is why the Gnostics said that Judas was freeing Jesus from his earthly body by betraying him. This is why Arians said that Jesus was elevated to godhood (not God incarnate). The Jewish mindset was that God created the world good, and it contradicted the hellenistic worldview of the Romans. Of Jewish culture, yes, modern Jews believe that our purpose is to create the best society we can, but that was not ancient Judaism. If anything, it is the result of Talmudic Judaism that stimmed from the Pharisees after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. as a way to figure out how to practice Judaism without the Temple, -which was necessary for sacrifice and worship. Yes, Micah does say to "seek justice", yes the last of the Noahide Laws is to build court houses for justice, and yes, Isaiah does warn of Israel's neglect of the widow and orphan, but these are not social justice. The idea of ancient Judaism was not socialism, -it was that people should deal honestly with one another, not forming factions to war against each other. It was people rejecting the social pressure in unjust ways. Exodus 23 gives this really well: "Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness. Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd" (1-2). Liberals may have a problem with verse 3, "Do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit", and conservatives might have a problem with verse 6, "Do not deny justice to your poor person in their lawsuit." You might broaden this out: "Don't show favoritism to the black man or the white man." "Don't show favoritism to the Republican or to the Democrat." Justice does matter very much to God, but God's justice is different from social justice. God's justice is genuine and unbiased. But the main theme of ancient Judaism was that God is holy and man is sinful. Nevertheless, God calls us into relationship with Him. He is the Covenant Making God, who calls us out of our sin and to be His people. And when we answer the call of God, humble ourselves, repent of our sin, and worship and honor Him, then He will save us and forgive us of our sins, as described by David in Psalm 51. But if we harden our hearts, indulge in our sin, and seek to honor ourselves, then He will give us over to our sins for wrath to build up upon ourselves, as described in Romans 1.

It doesn't just come down to how you interpret a word or phrase. It comes down to whether someone is rooted in life, whether their spirits are spiritually alive - that fact will affect their take on everything! Hence Gunger, or whoever, is in no place to comment AT ALL compared with how God has set things to be, or by extension, anyone so arguing in accordence with how God has set them out to be. We should never, therefore, feel compelled to accommodate the thinking of the spiritually dead. Their arguments are spurious.

What is the gospel? That is a good question. What is the gospel of the KINGDOM of God? It believe the being born again is just the beginning of the Gospel and Kingdom experience. Fundamentalist Christianity is about power and control while offering its adherents a sense of eternal security. You see, the great allure of fundamentalist religion for its followers is that by simply believing the right things, they get to go to heaven. But the allure for its leaders is even greater. For, if you know all the answers and thereby possess the keys to heaven, you have the power to control others, to bend them to your will and your way of looking at the world. I continue to witness this trend taking place throughout the world not just with Christianity but with every other religion as well. Its an angry and desperate response by Christian fundamentalists who continue to witness the death of Orthodoxy and the emergence of Secular Humanism. Jesus would be glad to see it happening, because he was a Humanist who launched serious verbal attacks on religion and its depravity.

Of course what kind of good news is it that the God who commands us to love our enemies will fail to act in love to some in the end? That the God of perfect love cannot continue to seek after people until the end?

Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ We are born again after we CRY TEARS OF LIVING WATER . John the Baptist was recognises the voice of one CRYING in the desert. Romans 8:15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”

I think this is a fair critique of some progressive Christianity, but conservative Christianity often choose to ignore things Jesus said while He was here and instead replace it with enlightenment values or worse, post-enlightenment theories of power and race. I don’t expect systems of oppression to be over thrown before the 2nd Coming, but many Christians stand on the side of oppression and cheer it on, or cast stones in its name, or ignore it in return for money. There are any number of people of all political persuasions running around saying Lord, Lord in vain. Some of them know what they are doing, but many more have been mislead.

So, Jesus is not the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the word but the Lamb of God who offers us an opportunity to have our sin taken away if we make the right choice. Ultimately we must save ourselves

Modernist theology rebranded itself as Progressive Christianity and jumped on a few bandwagons. Alisa Chambers sees through all its deceptions. Francis Schaeffer at the end of his life talked about the need for social and economic justice, so perhaps conservative Christians were too slow to speak about these issues. The liberal-progressive churches do good work, but they go badly off the rails on a number of moral issues.

Appreciate A. Childers clarification emphasis on the historic “biblical” explanation of the gospel. But she makes the classic mistake when describing the fate of the un-repentant in the afterlife; of assuming the eternal punishment torment view...instead of just saying John 3:16 (which alludes to those who do not believe and repent as simply “perishing” not necessarily the traditional view of nature of Hell) This assumption is part of the prob. that may lead un-believers to reject the “good news” because of possible manipulation of threat of eternal torment. There are actually two other historical & “biblical views” that actually have greater weight of Scriptural backing than the E. Torment view (the traditional view that Augustine & papal system gladly postulated because of its convenient use to control the masses). So the good news looks kind of manipulative...Jesus: “Good news, if you believe you rcv heaven because I love you, but if you don’t well then I’ll torture eternally in hell”. Is that really what Jesus included in his good news?????

I'm having so much fun going through your channel. I'd add that you might want to explain more fully the original meaning of the word "gospel." It actually had a political function in the Roman Empire. It was not originally a Christian idea. It was very much a political term.

Here is a quote from a fourth century Church Father. Now we are to examine another fact and dogma, neglected by most people, but in my judgment well worth enquiring into. To Whom was that Blood offered that was shed for us, and why was It shed? I mean the precious and famous Blood of our God and Highpriest and Sacrifice. We were detained in bondage by the Evil One, sold under sin, and receiving pleasure in exchange for wickedness. Now, since a ransom belongs only to him who holds in bondage, I ask to whom was this offered, and for what cause? If to the Evil One, fie upon the outrage! If the robber receives ransom, not only from God, but a ransom which consists of God Himself, and has such an illustrious payment for his tyranny, a payment for whose sake it would have been right for him to have left us alone altogether. But if to the Father, I ask first, how? For it was not by Him that we were being oppressed; and next, On what principle did the Blood of His Only begotten Son delight the Father, Who would not receive even Isaac, when he was being offered by his father, but changed the sacrifice, putting a ram in the place of the human victim? [Genesis 22:10-13] Is it not evident that the Father accepts Him, but neither asked for Him nor demanded Him; but on account of the Incarnation, and because Humanity must be sanctified by the Humanity of God, that He might deliver us Himself, and overcome the tyrant, and draw us to Himself by the mediation of His Son, Who also arranged this to the honour of the Father, Whom it is manifest that He obeys in all things? So much we have said of Christ; the greater part of what we might say shall be reverenced with silence. But that brazen serpent was hung up as a remedy for the biting serpents [Numbers 21:9], not as a type of Him that suffered for us, but as a contrast; and it saved those that looked upon it, not because they believed it to live, but because it was killed, and killed with it the powers that were subject to it, being destroyed as it deserved. And what is the fitting epitaph for it from us? “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” [Hosea 13:14; I Corinthians 15:55] Thou art overthrown by the Cross; thou art slain by Him who is the Giver of life; thou art without breath, dead, without motion, even though thou keepest the form of a serpent lifted up on high on a pole. (Oration XLV, by St. Gregory the Theologian, 330-391 A.D., vol. 7, p. 431, Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, Second Series, edited by Philip Schaff, D.D., LL.D., and Henry Wace, D.D., Hendrickson Publishers, Inc., P.O. What all of these social gospel folks miss is that God already declared a guilty verdict on this world and that the only hope is His righteousness by faith of Jesus Christ They are running down a path thinking that maybe we are not that bad. This world that they think they are going to save is the world that crucified the Son of God. Christ died for our sins and rose again. Believe and be saved.

Here's a quote from "Enduring Witness" which sheds a whole lot of light on progressive Chrisitanity and their lack of any anchor for their beliefs. --- " I believe supercessionism destroys the fabric of Scripture because basically, you have two thousand years of history and divine activity, divine intervention, divine self-revelation that is all tied covenantly to a particular people, and a vision of the future of that people. So, when you come along and you say, "Well, redemptive history is no longer tied to this people, and there's no longer a future as it is plainly written in the Prophets." Then that has implications for the nature and character of God--meaning Divine unfaithfulness. It has implications for the trajectory of theology, because once you change it from its plain meaning, then there's no end to what it can be changed to, and what it can mean in different contexts. And so, it destroys the baseline of theology and divine revelation."

I find beauty in the blood of Jesus because Jesus was fully God on His way to the cross. Even as He hung there, He had the power to leave. Jesus wasn't an unwilling sacrifice in the atonement; He was the Author of it.

Didn't Jesus preach "the gospel" BEFORE his death and resurrection? (Mark 1:14, Matthew 9:35, and many more)? In which case, what exactly was he preaching?

Christ began his ministry with, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.” And to simply add, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” And this: “For God so loved the world,that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

Can the love of Jesus Christ be taught just by preaching alone without practice? How can a church which doesn't live as one of the branches standing on a single Vine, the single body of Christ bear good fruits if you read John 15 4?.

Keep telling the truth, even out of season. 2 Corinthians 2:15-16 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?

I would argue, there is no out of season. The time is always right to preach the truth, and more now than ever.
