Thank you for this. Amazing that we can listen to these sermons 100 years later. It is hard to find this preaching in modern preachers. Not impossible but difficult
Only wrong thing is that he says God brings diphtheria and scarlet fever. The chastening is always through his teachings. Because the word of God says only good things come from the Lord. James 1:17. That’s why these preachers lose their children to the devil. Their mouth being wrath to them.
Actually, he says "God permits" these things. He didn't say God sends them. But, the Bible uses stronger language than Torrey. And isn't God sovereign? _Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed._ (1 Peter 4:12-13) and _For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives._ (Hebrews 12:6). I don't know about you, but I believe the Bible.

I am all for love and unity. Yet, what scripture says about the Lord Jesus Christ must also be accepted by everyone, if anyone is to be saved. _This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among menc by which we must be saved._ (Acts 4:11-12)
The bible is the only book where you can find the truth. All in it is God- breathed. The key note of tge bible is LOVE because God us Love. The bible says: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV Religion will not account for salvation because the bible says: Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 NIV For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. Romans 1:16 NIV
