to anyone wondering: this means that Clarkson thinks he'll die in 2033 at 73 years of age and Hammond reckons he can make it to 2064, by which he would be 95 years old. May on the other hand thought he only had just over one and a half years left from this point on in early 2019, which means he, according to his calculation, should've died by now.

@Alexander Chohan well, your premise is wrong here tho. season 1 started in late 2016 and since 130000 hours actually equates more to something like 14.8 years (you called me bad at math while rounding 14.8 to 14, but anyway), clarksons expiration date would lie somewhere in 2031. That was when I thought this clip was from season 1, which it isnt, it's from season 3 episode 7, released in February of 2019. So yes I have made a mistake, but funnily enough neither of the two you tried to point out.

22kw or more chargers require 3 phase electric system which the vast majority of homes do not have so we would be stuck with the slower 7kw charging solution even after installing a special box for a few hundred quids. They need to work more on charge times more than the range. To travel long distances have to add at least another hour because of charging tines
@erikanovak9485
@erikanovak9485 3 года назад
You are WRONG. 7 kW overnight is 70 kWh (10 hours overnight) and 70 kWh is enough for 500 kilometers, which is more than enough for daily driving for 99,9 % of the people. That is plenty fast enough, you plug it in in the evening and go to bed for spleep. In the morning is always full.
@erikanovak9485
@erikanovak9485 3 года назад
For traveling long distances there is almost no difference. For petrol car 1000 km roadtrip you would need 9,5 hours, and for electric car tesla model 3 to do 1000 km roadtrip you would need only 10 hours including charging, which is basically the same. Here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-65hPNQkPK2I.html And for petrol car is 9,5 hours here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HdENrYlaez0.html

LOL, my main issue with electric cars is that none of them is available used for below $10K without the risk of having to replace the batteries. Yes, they have fewer components than an ICE car, but they also cost a fortune to fix many things on. Unlike things Like Toyotas, Hondas, and Fords which can always be both easily and cheaply fixed to go on for many many years. As it stands now, ALL electric cars are luxury cars due to their possible cost of ownership. Not to mention, how they're impossible to modify with things like Turbos and so on. All of those reasons contribute A LOT as to why those ars only trend online. In reality, they are less than 3% of the market. AKA, they don't even sell as much as the top luxury cars.

Electricity is much more expensive in Europe. It's more expensive than driving a diesel car if you're unlucky with the price at the charging points (sometimes 3x as expensive as charging at home). If you do your own oil changes, it's much cheaper to drive an ICE car. EVs are only cheap to run if you can charge them up at your own home. Which is impossible if you don't have your own driveway.

I love Clarkson.. although someone needs to tell this ape that u can charge overnight and it will give you 100% range, or even charge during day with solar for l free. Thank the sun for that ☀️. U can clearly see he’s biased by automatically assuming the jag is better than Tesla merely on looks or whatever he’s said. And that’s horrible car that burns to the ground every other week (before u judge there’s like hardly thousands of these versus teslas nearly 8 million fleet ) I always loved and still love top gear, but they never really gave Tesla a chance , and for that they’re biased. Same thing with other cars it’s always English cars like the range rover and other arrogant stuff they did,, yes it’s a nice car no one denying but boy is it reliable and not a money pit. And to reiterate the above point, I now own a Tesla y and it’s best thing I ever had, and I’m now convinced that the petrol is annoyance let me explain : so as I said I wake to a full tank everyday with no effort as the car is plugged in so I never worry unless I’m driving beyond 500km?? But in my van for example which is a petrol, say I have to go somewhere urgent and I have to make it on time yes the refueling is quick but that’s 5-7 minutes wasted driving past, where in my Tesla I can just head right over there with never having to stop ever again , like ever. Home charging is always overlooked and for a good reason cause it proves them wrong 😅

Tron Dialsingh Why is the British grid third world?! It's one of the most resilient on earth- power cuts are almost unheard of except in remote rural areas during storms. It's gone from almost total dependency on coal to practically zero coal in the space of twenty five years. Most modern homes have a 100 amp supply capable of delivering 24kw, more than enough for the typical household. Sure, it will need upgrading but for a system began in the Victorian era it's bloody good!

Tesla when they unweil a car, they announce a range and when it ends up in production the acat actualky has that range and sometimes more. Also tesla isn’t all about the car but also the infrastructure, bcs saying your selling an electric car that can charche up to 250kw/h thats stupid unless you have the infrastructure to support and provide that power to charge that fast, again the taycan can charge at max 250kw/h but where is it gonna do it ??? Nowhere or ar very few places bcs other than tesla superchargers there isn’t a huge network of fast chargers like tesla superchargers out there for other brands. There just isn’t any even close to the scale of tesla. I’m not a fucking 0 petrol electric car sucker, i love old big american V8s and huge old amerian cars, i love them, i also love the last mustang or the F-150 raptor but on the electric side, tesla just wins in every aspect. @@simonw2631 the only point in which Tesal as loosing is advance is on the charger side: as northern Europe demonstrates if energy provider built a solid network of 150+ kW charger, the supercharger network is something that someone will a another electric car will not regret. For not speaking of the Ionity network (probably the SuC nemesis). I don't know the situation of charging station in USA, but here in Europe the Tesla is slowly lossing this initial advantage. Exepecialy n the Northern country. We also have to consider that not all supercharger are V3, so not in all of them you can get 250kw (BTW the 150kW of V2 SuC is always a great results). Also knowing this from costumer reports, its very easy to find a superchargers bcs its very well made and built into the tesla infotainment system which guides you prefectly to it, and in other cars you need to find the adress and so on so its a hassel to charge your damn car. It takes a normal person working in a job in the downtown part of a city or a business park in a suburb 30 minutes or more to drive from where they work through bumper to bumper traffic on congested roads to a gas station, wait in line, fill up, pay for the gas and then drive back to the office/construction site, to pick up the kids at school or to head home. Before you say "I'll just drive to the gas station and fuel up during non peak hours", that is pretty much the exact same concept as someone putting their electric car to charge at home. You might argue "I would need to recharge my car during the day at some point". Let me tell you that I personally know someone who owns a Chevy Bolt who has to drive it all day for his job. The guy just plugs the car in overnight at his house each night. The car rarely if ever goes low on electricity during the day and has never run out. Here are some legit car facts. Electric cars are more expensive then an equivalent gasoline car to buy new. Electric cars are stupid. They take hours to charge and the current electrical plants are not ready for that strain. If every car was electric think of the size of electric filling stations will be there is lines now for petrol that takes like 5 minutes to do think of when every car takes over 10 minutes to charge there will be massive lines and many cars running out of electricity in the roads. Electric cars over time their maximum range will go down. Electric cars in a roll over are more dangerous because any compromise to the battery will lead to fires that can last days because it is a slow chain reaction. At a certain point for any electric cars the battery's will have to be replaced every 100,000 and something Kilometers and cost over 10 thousand dollars per battery and they weigh over 1000lbs each and that 1000lbs cannot be recycled. And battery's are very bad for the environment. The switch to electric cars would cause an economic fallout think oil companies will be selling WAY less oil and oil is one of the leading commodities world wide which will lead to loss of jobs and money worldwide. Also there will be no point for all these different car makers so think about ford or dodge or chevy closing or shoot all of them thats over 400,000 jobs lost that would be devastating. Also electric cars are worse for the environment than a gasoline car thanks to production for one year before it equalizes. SO ELECTRIC CARS ARE NOT THE FUTURE. Are society is to based on oil and gasoline and car production too much for us to not go into a depression if all of that is removed and even if it was slow there would be nothing to fill that void when its gone.

@@tstuff1213 "If every car was electric think of the size of electric filling stations" Electric filling stations? What are you talking about? You don't need dedicated "filling stations". Charging points can be installed virtually anywhere, at home, on the street, in car parks. As the number of EVs on the road increases, so will the number of charging points. There'll be no long queues. "They take hours to charge and the current electrical plants are not ready for that strain." A spokesman for the British National Grid has stated that there will be no problem with supplying enough electricity. Most EV charging happens at home or at work, when the vehicles are doing nothing anyway. And the new fast chargers mean that people only have to stop for less than half an hour. Anyway, non-professional drivers are already advised to stop for 15 minutes every 2 hours to avoid fatigue.
@tstuff1213
@tstuff1213 3 года назад
@@davidkeenan5642 Ok first when i said electric filling stations i meant charging points. If there is no dedicating areas for charging then every car park and every spot for street parking will need a charging facility because you have no set destination you have to go to charge your car so everywhere will have to have a charging point. So unless they spend millions or even billions putting ev points everywhere they will need dedicate charging points with only so many charging points so there will be lines. And good to hear that in theory at least one country in the world can supply enough electricity because many cannot. Take the USA as an example they as of 2016 on average buy 2.2 billion dollars worth of electricity from canada so they can keep their lights on and that is with next to none of this ev nonsense. Imagine how much they will have to buy when all cars are this electric car idea they won't be able to afford/supply the electricity needed. If all electric cars are charging at night that will be equivalent or more so than it is in the day amount of electricity used. (Also when you charge it at home you have to pay for that electricity so many will try to charge it during the day while they are out probably) Thats still 20 or so minutes of your day wasted probably every day that adds up fast. Also who on this earth honestly stops on a road trip every two hours thanks to "fatigue" for 15 minutes probably next to no one i know my family and many others drive for 3-5 hours straight at a time and are totally fine to unload a entire boat and launch it when we arrive after our trips. We would have to stop probably 1-2 times depending on range and efficiancy and have to wait for the thing to charge. Also fast charging is not available everywhere and its not just because they decided not too there, sometimes the power grid cannot take that much of a pull all at once also fast charging is worse for batterys so its not wise to use that every time. And here in canada up north especially the electricity is very un reliable. So based on these reasons and many more as long as i possibly can i will be buying gasoline cars.
