Excellent vlog, well presented and as a canal lover so enjoyable. I’d walked from Grantham to Cotgrave but this stretch remained a mystery. No longer. Thanks so much.

Great video well done. Its always a mystery to me why this canal has not been restored, yes it would cost money and take time but the long term benefits would be enormous. You only have to see what an attraction canals have become and the revenue they generate for local businesses and communities. Ah well maybe one day? Going to watch a few more of your vids now, all the best.

This is great to see as I always wondered how and where the canal started from this end, it's a lot more built up than the Grantham end.

I believe they have a plan to re route the Nottingham end. A long job sadly and a lot of work required

If your heading out grantham lincs way. Might be worth checking out the river slea. Crystal clear water full of rainbow trout specially through sleaford near the hub

I guess the next leg will take in Lock 14 that's being restored? Look forward to seeing that 👍 Certainly makes me want to get out there and do these canal walks, thanks for taking the time to do these.

Hi thanks for the kind comment :) I think the next part I'll be doing is Cotgrave to Somewhere near Bottesford Station so as to return to Cotgrave again. Possibly next week :)

You can avoid crossing the A52 by turning left onto Ambleside (heading from Nottingham towards Cotgrave ) take 3rd right , follow to end and it’ll bring you into a path that leads to the pedestrian crossing slightly further down . Just walk u bassingfield lane a little bit and you’re back at the canal :)

Fantastic, as that crossing is a bit nasty at times isn't it? Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂

Trekking & Towpaths no problem at all :) I seen another video of yours on the old Cotgrave colliery path, do you know if the path continues after the bridge where your video ended ?
@TrekkingExploration
@TrekkingExploration 4 года назад
That's it I'm afraid. The trackbed carries on over the viaduct and onto the existing mainline

Trekking & Towpaths ah no worries me and my partner go out on electric scooters all around that area so always looking for nice long scenic footpaths :)

There's good surfacing on that towpath which is surprising given the canal isn't navigable. I'm thinking of the mud and ruts on the Macclesfield!
