The Grass Roots are a great American rock band from the 60's-70's. I had some of their records. They had a lot of big hits such as "Midnight Confession", "Things I Should Have Said", "Bella Linda", "Lovin' Things", "The River Is Wide", "I'd Wait A Million Years", "Heaven Knows", "Walking Through The Country", "Baby Hold On", "Temptation Eyes", "Sooner Or Later", "Two Divided By Love", "Glory Bound", "The Runway" etc.

I had forgotten about this song. Nice to hear it again. Excellent philosophy. I miss the 60's - love, peace and love of the natural, simple life.....

This was from the Creed Bratton era. He left the group in 1969 but hilariously included his history with The Grass Roots as a part of his “The Office” character. My personal Grass Roots song is “I’d Wait a Million Years”. Thanks.

The 60s was a great decade for rock

I read that this was how young men felt in the 60’s because of the draft and having to go to Viet Nam and possibly not coming home. So live for today you might be drafted tomorrow.

Great reaction of a fab song. I have the original singles of this AND The Rokes. Here’s a couple of trippy 60’s US tunes that would make cool reaction videos: 1, The Electric Prunes - I had too much to dream last night 2, 13th Floor Elevators - You’re gonna miss me 3, Quicksilver Messenger Service - Pride of man 4, The Litter - Action woman 5, The Sonics - He’s waitin’ 6, The Chocolate Watch Band - Are you gonna be there (at the love in)

Another garage band "The Nightcrawlers' formed out of Daytona Beach, Florida released their hit single "Little Black Egg" back in 1965 might be worth checking out. The strings in this song are unique. The repeating bass line sinks down in your soul also. 🎤🎸🥁🔊🔥☮📻🎧

This and Midnight Confession were the first two songs I learned, playing Bass in a garage band.

Hey Biz, here's another new band to check out, if interested. "Pilot - It's Magic /TopPop" (by the channel: TopPop) --Pilot was a Scottish rock band and this was their first hit single. The song was written by band mates David Paton and Billy Lyall both of whom had been substitute members for a very big band called "Bay City Rollers" before the band's breakthrough. And although this was a big hit the band Pilot only saw marginal success from I believe 1972 --1978. (if I'm not mistaken).

Heh, I forgot about the rave-up in the bridge. "Let's Live For Today" made sense in the context of thermonuclear global annihilation Cold War stand off. Check out the film Dr. Strangelove for deets. See also Epicurus. And the pill. The pill was still brand new technology. Think about that one for a bit. The Grass Roots were an American band influenced by British invasion bands like The Rolling Stones and The Kinks but also by American songwriters like Neil Diamond. When you're ready for more sixties pop from them, also check out some of these tunes -- "Wait A Million Years", "Where Were You When I Needed You", "Feelings", "Things I Should Have Said".
