Just a tad tall! Holy cow! It looked long, but didn't realize HOW long until you made your first pass! Could have baled some of that up as hay! I bet the neighbors are happy to see that lawn whipped back into shape!
Nice job Brad. That yard was a tad overgrown, looks much better now. That was a lot of grass clippings though. It was 109'F in Phoenix today. 😩👍👍👍👍👍👍😉🇺🇸
Wow that was more grass than I thought there was. I knew that there was going to be a lot but I didn't think there would be that much. But overall it turned out to be really nice. Thanks for sharing and God bless
Really nice. 100% Professional work. Maybe in future, they'll mow more frequently to avoid the brown patches? I've hated, in years gone by, to have to explain that, "No, I didn't cut it too short. When it's this tall, the sun is blocked and doesn't react with the chlorophyll down deep so the grass isn't green there. In a week or two it'll be fine". No, you just cut it too dang short. . Whatever. Still, what a nice job and it's great that you've got clients all there in the same neighborhood. Cheers from Texas!
We always string edged first including all pathways, mowed, then straight edged paths etc. but here in 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 Aussie we always bagged every mow as well.
It's feast and famine with grass ,wet springs high temperature lots of grass ,long hot summer no rain ,brown out without irrigation if allowed, still you can only do your best.
I'll trim & edge first on a property that bad, then I blow debris into the yard & away from structures/obstacles, mow it. Then mow again bagging after its rested to dry. Repeat as needed then a final blow. Like you said, you're going to work double at some point.
Looks like that is all new. Those clippings were being launched out of the side. Tells me new blades or just perked back up. Good on you for keeping up with the maintenance of your equipment!
Another good reason to mow is so you know the height of the already cut grass and you can level it out accordingly. If you trim first, you may cut way lower than the mower and it may not look as good.
Glad you had good equipment for the job. That was a sea of wet looking, tall grass. Interesting you mention how some kinds of equipment features aren't workable in changed conditions, green goo wouldn't have been good in an effort to mulch on site nor would, as you said, leaving hay-level clippings on the ground. It was a good point to bring up that you can't always adequately control where clippings go and that it becomes a shift to good cleanup habits and manners. I'd noted the problem with houses closely set together, it might look o.k. on paper but paper designers, who haven't managed yards, don't know that things as clippings don't go down in a straight line much of the time, whether a mower or string trimmer, etc. Can you imagine telling a tree where the leaves have to fall? Admiration, you got that looking very nice.
Fantastic job on this tall thick grass. I know when you dumped that grass you to blow out the cab for about 5-10 minutes. The string trimming was on point, and yes I would have mowed second to avoid those little sticky things all over me. Keep up the good work and stay hydrated 💦💦💦.
I string trimm first because if it’s tall grass sometime I’ll trimm some of the tall grass down to make easier when mowing! But your right all that grass do get on your clothes but I just blow it off!
Would you cut in transport height first to knock some of it down? I probably would have. Just a question, no Monday morning quarterbacking from Bucks County, Pa. Love your equipment and setup and truck and trailer. I would really like a chance to use the ventrac they are freaking awesome
I think if I wanted to just mulch up everything I would. Since I was collecting, cutting it one time only has the benefit of making it easier to gather as the grass blades are longer and knit together more. I don't know if that makes sense. I guess think of straws on the ground, maybe 1,000. If you had to rake them up it would be easier if the straws were normal length, right? But if you cut them in half, it would be harder. If you cut THOSE pieces in half, it would be harder still because the smaller pieces would go everwhere. IDK if I am right, that is just my reasoning! BUT if I wasn't going to gather the clippings, yeah, probably mowing the yard 3 or 4 times going an inch or .75 lower each time would leave the best finish (assuming the yard isn't wet like this side yard and can handle being driven over that many times. Good question!
i always edge if needed, then string strim blow it all in where i can mow it with the mower, then blow again... thats if their isnt any of those sticker things or seeds on the grass.
Hey Sir, How come you didn't use your stand on mower, would it have been easier if so ? or you didn't feel like moving stuff around to get to it n your garage lol
Dang good job with lots of extra work. Notice your mower went thru some boggy areas on the sides of the house. Can't be avoided and it is too bad the grass got so tall. End result: Job well done and a good looking trimmed lawn. Frankly I would refuse to live in a housing area with an HOA. They are only as good as the folks who run them and too often there are too many a-holes dictating and taking money from the homeowners.
You have always done a great job. Been watching you from the get go. One question, is it a wet yard? I always waited on cutting my lawn when it was heavy with moisture. Being its in Florida, I know its hard to find a dry day...try Minnesota, anyway, doesn't the lawns get torn up from cutting while wet or is it a special grass?
Lots of grass clippings to haul away. How do you dispose of it; do you take away to mulch, to a tip (rubbish dump) or to be used in some other way. Hope the cost didn’t fall on you! Good work
Well, there really is no right way to mow something that overgrown. It worked great blowing the grass to one general area for you to put it in the trash cans. That sure was a lot of grass! gg
Hey Brad, I was noticing the Sentricon termite bait station along the perimeter of your client's home. I have that at my house as well and I've damaged a couple of them over the years with my lawnmower. Terminix would always replace them for free if I let them know that one got damaged, but it was still a hassle to have to deal with that. Have you ever had one of those get damaged/ripped out by your mowers while working someone's lawn, and if so were you the one who had to arrange the replacement with the Sentricon vendor or did the customer assume that responsibility?
Those things are the worst. Especially when the installers don't put them in right. Then you have all these dumb grass bumpouts where you couldn't fit the mower and have to string trim. The times it has happened I say basically what you do, but kind of put it on the customer. I let them know about the damage, it is always because they were installed to high and Terminix should take care of it, BUT if they don't, I will. I let them know that and haven't had any issues. It has happened maybe 3 times over the years.
is there a reason why you cut the grass so short? It has lost its lush green color and now looks brown? What are your thoughts leaving half an inch more of grass to give it that soft, plush yet manicured look?
Don't forget over a period of time your wedding band finger can get smaller or bigger depending on the weather have you ever wondered what would happen if you're wedding ring ever fell off your wife will probably scream and yell at you so a suggestion would be make sure your wedding band is on because if you're doing those sweeping the grass cuttings in a trash can hit her option is there are tattoos you and your wife can get on your wedding fingers that would be more permanent than losing your wedding rings talk to her about it she probably would like it.
19:00 Are you hitting the fence WOT? I really struggle with those white plastic fences. I feel like I'm going to damage them. They're usually right on top of the ground.
