Kenny grew up 4 houses down and across the street from me. My brother dated his sister, Kim. There was a small track in Whitestown, where my grandparents lived, Saturday nights we would go see Kenny race there. Very nice kid, very down to earth, and always wore the same jacket wherever he went, even in the summer. My brother was really upset when Kenny passed, as we knew him from the time he started in quarter midgets.
I appreciate how respectful you are towards the individuals you cover in your segments. Some feel a need to give morbid details that are completely unnecessary. Thank you as always.
I remember Kenny. He was one of the drivers I followed. Remember that day when he died. It was 12 weeks to the day, to the hour, to the turn after Adam Petty died. I remember when someone did a like a mini documentary featuring Kenny and his parents were in it too. He looked just like his dad. He told his mom that if anything happened to him, not to worry about him that he would be ok. Some people you never forget. Some things you never forget. Thank you for showing where Kenny is laid to rest. God bless
Thank you for sharing. I have never heard of him or really followed NASCAR, but am aware that it is an incredibly dangerous sport & the men & women who have the courage to compete are all amazing. R.I.P Kenny & all who were taken before your time while doing something you loved.
i met kenny many times at usac sprint and midget races , the last time i saw kenny was at a race track in louisville ky. . he was on the verge of signing a deal to drive in the nascar truck series, he took the time to come sit in the grandstands with us and talk for a while, as great a race car driver as he was he was even a greater person , i still have the tony stewart shirt i was wearing that night with kennys autograph on it, thanks for taking us to visit my old frend whitdocks
I'm not a racing fan but it tugs at my heart to see the head stone of a young person. Death is tragic no matter what your age is but it's especially heart wrenching when it is a young person. Thanks for sharing this.
Big NASCAR fan here loved the video. We have lost a number of good driver's. I miss watching them all race. Went to be with Jesus way to early. RIP Kenny
Going along the lines of this video, could you please do more videos on race drivers? Dale Earnhardt Sr, Adam Petty, Neil Bonnett,, Rodney Orr, Dan Wheldon, Justin Wilson, etc...
Thank You so much for the time, effort and knowledge that you put into your video's, I've been watching your video's since you're very first one and I will continue to keep watching you for as long as you keep posting my friend!!!! I love history, love visiting old cemeteries and paying respects to those who lived before us and finding out their back stories. Please keep on doing what your doing, it's very much appreciated!!! :-) and loved ♥♥ Trish in W.Va
I lived in New Hampshire, and went to New Hampshire International Speedway 2 days after this happened. They had a makeshift memorial at turn 4 with flowers and mementos. Sadly, Adam Petty died in turn 4 as well. 😥
I remember him and his death well. Been a race fan since 1989. Haven’t followed it as closely as I used to since Rusty Wallace retired. He was my favorite driver and a very nice guy.
Now Chris another interesting Grave although i can remember Kenny Irwin Jr cos i used to watch Nascar over here in the UK and use to be a Earnhardt fan at the time but all the same been fascinating listening to you on him God rest his soul, thank you again for sharing this from across the Pond in UK
Hi . A beautiful tribute to a young guy who passed way to young . Although his passion was very dangerous he obviously was dedicated to it. Great vlog as always! Thanks for all your great stories. Stay safe and keep on vlogging! Deborah.... Winnipeg, Canada
Well imagine my surprise when you pop up 💛🥂 good to see you and thank you for another great video! The days are long but the years are short and it does seem like yesterday that he was taken... so nice of you to remember him and remind us of a wonderful young man who we were lucky enough to have been blessed with knowing... may he be resting in Peace 🙏🙏🙏
@@Whittdocs my brother would have loved your vlogs also. I lost my brother in January from COVID-19. He was only 65 We are both proud vets who served our country. I have shared your links with other friends of mine. On behalf of my brother him and I salute you for all the good you do
Thanks for all you do. If you go near Maysville, KY, would you visit the grave of Rosemary Clooney in St. Mary’s Cemetery? Many folks loved her music and especially her appearance in “White Christmas.” I read that her nephew George Clooney was one of her pall bearers. Like most of us, she lived through good times and bad in her life and career. Thanks again.
I never heard of him but I never was in to sports or anything like that but it is sad when young people pass away so young it's bad enough to give up older people it's bad situation either way. Take care and God bless you my friend 🙏
All I could think about while watching this video is how do you find a flat headstone when it's covered in snow? And why were a handful of headstones clear of snow? Did you remove the snow from Erwin's? And, if so, how did you do it? We don't get snow in So Cal, so it popped out at me. LOL, It seemed like the elephant in the room :-)
There’s a certain temperature here in which snow sticks to grass, but not roadways. And we were right in that sweet spot. That’s a great question though. Thanks Steve!
HI, i'm a new subsciber. checkin in. fresh off the back of your Arlington video. i'm off to watch your content now, see where ya been..... and to follow where ya go from now on. thanks ...
Welcome aboard! I’m glad to have you. Thank you so much for subscribing. My channel is all cemetery related, so I make visits whenever and wherever I can. I hope you enjoy.
@@Whittdocs its nice having a great new channel to follow, i think your attention to detail is second to none, people don't know how much history you can dig up in a cemetery and you clearly put a lot of effort into being very factual. great work, i'm checkin in an catchin up with the great videos you've done already. thank you and greetings from the Yorkshire dales UK.
@@Whittdocs Both him and John meant a lot to me as I am a huge motorsport fan. I'm going to take my John Andretti diecast and see if Marco will sign it at the SRX event.
Personally, I thought it was super classy of Tony Stewart to donate his Trophy to Kenny's parents like he did!! Kenny was a very well rounded, super talented and extremely nice young man. He loved people, racing and the thrill of it all. I met him (as #GregHall stated that he did) in 1998 and he was such a gentleman to say the least. He signed my racing T-shirt (of his) that I had just purchased, also purchased one of Dale Earnhardt as well at the same time, Irwin and Earnhardt were my two top drivers at the time. I was shocked and stunned, to say the least, but more saddened and heart-broken when it was announced that he had died. RIP Kenny and Fly High buddy with the Angels, you are, as always, very much beloved and missed!! Trish ~ W.Va
This is a very nice marker. A life cut short. He would have been in his early fifties now. Condolences to the family. They must think of Kenny a lot 🙏🏾
