One does not simply LEARN Gravity Falls lore. Gravity Falls can't just be taught, it needs to be EXPERIENCED to truly get the brilliance of storytelling in modern Western animation.
Just because one knows the Lore of the series, doesn't mean they Know the series. It needs to be watched like it's in a cinema. With popcorn, notebooks and pens. Lots and lots of pens.
This summary only really gives you like 1/8th of Gravity Falls. It gives you the broad overarching story, but like it BARELY even mentions major characters, like Wendy and Soos. It tells you what happens, but you completely miss out on the insane journey. And like the way you think about Stan and Ford is wildly skewed by being unfamiliar with the characters.
@BlueBerry20071 I mean, yeah, but all the things they mention are pretty surface level. Sometimes, other things that you may have to know a but much about the series that are also pretty important are skipped over. Not a complaint or criticism or anything, just an observation.
What i dont like about this video is didnt mention that Stans dad said he can't return home UNLESS he brings them millions dollars. That's why he is so obsessed with money. And pushing Ford in the portal was a legit accident. Ford is REALLY arrogant and wanted to kick both the kids and Stan out the second he returned. And he didn't make the mystery shack initially to "scam" he made it so he could pay for the equipment to bring Ford back.
He wasn't arrogant, not even a little bit, he was understandably mad at what his brother had done and trapping him in an alternate dimension for all his life and having to survive alone, all because Stand couldn't control his impulses, and that was also his lab and house that was turned into a tourist trap without his consent, and Stand was being REALLY childish about it too with the whole "I'm not going to grab your hand and safe the universe unless I get my way" thing... really goes to show he hadn't grown a bit, only trying to undo what he did.
I don't think that's very fair on Ford. To be very fair, Stan DID ruin his future because he let his emotions control him and damage what would've gotten Ford into a great school to help later provide for their family, INCLUDING Stan. As for the kicking out thing, I mean, like the other commenter said, he literally got shoved into the portal by his brother, and if you read the official journal 3, it explains that Ford was literally seconds away from destroying Bill cipher FOR GOOD whenever Stan opened the portal up and forcefully pulled him back into their dimension. So, yeah, he's gonna be a little pissed. They're both fantastic characters who just both made stupid mistakes
But there a side affect for him. He forgets thing alot and key details Don't worry he'd eventually forget that there was a giant head guy with a giant hand
"They're the kids of Stan and Ford's younger brother...." Pat not even a minute later "HOW ARE THEY RELATED, ARE THEY ADOPTED!?!" Idk, maybe if you paid attention lol
I will say that the “Stan not doing the important thing because he didn’t get a thank you” bit is a bit more complicated then the timeline video could explain, it basically went like this Stan got upset that his brother was leaving for college rather then following their dreams, he punched a table with his brothers perpetual motion machine on it, it broke but Stan fixed it to the point where he thought it was completely fine and still helped his brother, but it broke down and in response to this Stan was abandoned by his ENTIRE FAMILY!!! He went around trying to make a name for himself but got banned from half the states in America, then ford called him saying he could only rely on him, he rushed there as soon as possible and ford literally said this “remember that boat we were talking about as kids, well I need you to take this journal, get on a boat, and get as far away from here as possible.” So Stan gets mad and ford accidentally gets sent to another dimension, Stan worked for months trying to get him back, running out of food and having to turn the house into the mystery shack to make enough money to pay the bills and live, after that when he spent half of his life fighting to get ford back, learning quantum physics and stealing from the government, and finally he got the portal functioning and his brother ford emerged from the portal… And immediately punched Stan in the face going of on him for opening the portal to save him when he said not to. And after 1 or 2 months after this he NEVER got so much as a thanks or a smile There was no gratitude for him after EVERYTHING, Stan literally saved him from a nightmare realm where one glimpse of it can make you try to erase your memories into nothing, and he wasn’t acknowledge once in 2 months And everyone was still rushing to ford to solve their problems, and after ford just made some graffiti everyone immediately followed his instructions and ignored him That boiled over so much that he just needed some acknowledgment
Also, it’s been a while since I watched, but didn’t he hold Ford’s hard after thanking him, at which point Ford insulted him causing the two of them to fight.
@@gabevalentine1689 yea he was willing to cooperate but ford barely gave him that, it is important to note that Stan wasn’t right or wrong but in a grey area nether right or wrong
The reason Bill was none the wiser with the switch at the end is because, apart from being twins, Stanley had to basically force his mind to look "clean and orderly" and not a mess of doors, like it was in Season 1. Otherwise, Bill would've noticed right away that it wasn't Stanford's mind. Because Bill underestimated the mental capability of a con man, he was finally defeated.
also because all along the show we see time and time again that caution is not a thing for him, bill goes face first and THEN tries sneaky tactics when it fails
Technically Bill did leave a piece of himself behind, he left his physical body when he entered Stan's mind, though without the Real Bill inside, it's basically an empty shell occupying where he once stood.
And bill cipher is irl on confusion hill people has shaken his hand so he is not gone he is in the mind of someone AND WE NEED TO LOOK OUT FOR BILL NOW
They left out 90% of the show. Btw yes they actually did try shooting him with a gun that deletes anything it touches out of existence. And it missed by a bit so he could regenerate.
People have recently started reacting to Gravity Falls, which just proves how timeless it is. Not just one of the best Disney animated stories, but one of the best animated stories in general. Alex Hirsch, the creator of the show and the voice of many characters, really helped influence a lot of Disney shows with some Gravity Falls aspects, i.e. Amphibia and The Owl House where both shows are comprised of Gravity Falls alumni. It’s really amazing how impactful this show became to billions of people.
Seeing this has brought back so many memories. Getting Journal 3 and scanning for secrets, learning cyphers to decode the episodes one frame. Honestly, this show was amazing and I'm so sad that we didn't get another season
It's funny that the whole Gideon being their enemy likely could've been avoided by Mabel actually agreeing to be friends & not just saying it to trick & beat him lol
16:50 Yeah, they kind glossed over the fact that Stanley was born with 12 fingers. 20:10 I mean, that only applies when used multiple times on one’s self. 21:19 Another detail glossed over for the sake of brevity, Stanley essentially Bill-proofed his mind 28:21 Well he did… but that’s just his physical body. So it’s less of a back up and more like an empty shell
You are probably not interested in this, but I must share my knowledge: Ford's adventures from when he arrived to Gravity Falls to when he came out of the portal in the series are all written down in the physical copy of the Journal 3 :3 There are also things about the rest of the show, but since you can watch that I think that is the least interesting part. The journal also gives a very scary view on Bill, since there are a few things that the creator of that video glossed over to keep it short but that are heavily described on the book
So my theory as to why they wrote the incantation down was so that future generations would know what not to do and what to look out for. "Tribe next door is doing the forbidden ritual. Better look out" "i had a weird dream about doing a ritual. But it was very much like the forbidden one so i do not do that" "Kaman the Shaman has coincidentaly started doing a raindance that 50% aligns with this ritual. Better keep an eye on that"
I'm pretty sure you actually need to watch it even more now. This did spoil most of the main thru-line plot for you, but there is still so much more for you to discover in Gravity Falls.
Fun fact about the fingers! In show, Ford is born with Polydactyly, which means you have 6 fingers. Every one else is drawn with 5 fingers and that’s also why the journal covers have 6 fingers on them. Cause Ford wrote them.
20:20 not entirely sure but I believe this timeline was constructed well before Journal 3, a real life version of Journal 3 from the show, was released. The book goes way more into detail of where Stanford was while MIA.
Okay I am no scientist nor a person really interested in the field of physics. However, the perpetual motion machine is not necessarily supposed to have infinite energy. The whole concept is based off of the usage of energy by an object. Think of a small scale dam where water falls down onto a water wheel, that water wheel transfers the movement as energy to a small pulley that buckets the water at the bottom to carry to the top of the dam. The issue here is that this would not last forever, forces like the impact of the water hitting the water wheel will vary and eventually there may be too much water at the bottom for the water wheel to even move from the impact of falling water. The overall issue is that some amount of energy will always be transferred, everytime this happens there is less energy for every next transfer. This will keep going until something breaks or until the amount of energy being used is so low that the device is no longer able to compete its function.
I was into Gravity Falls so much I bought Journal #3 twice. Once the normal version and the 2nd the limited edition that has printed invisible ink and eyeglass and Alex Hirsch's signature and also the comic book. And had to cosplay both Stan twins one time.
In Bill's Final moments, he evokes the name of AXOLOTL. A being which is a powerful multi dimensional being which is an axolotl. "AXOLOTL MY TIME HAS COME TO BURN, I INVOKE THE ANCIENT POWER SO I MAY RETURN!!" And by doing so, Bill is capable of returning in another time, in another place and in another form. All to make sure he has a chance to make up for his crimes. With the theory being that Bill gets reborn as Stanly Pines. And there js evidence for this. -They call Ford Sixer -They tell you to buy gold -Sings the same song -Stan tells you to shake the hand of the IRL Bill statue during the end of the Gravity Falls ARG
Hey pat you should check out the gravity falls arg that let people find a irl Bill Cypher statue. Also if you find the time you should definitely see the series as the timeline didn't discuss every episode or how characters evolve throughout the show.
“make another one” i don’t think the college professors from his one in a life time chance college were gonna wait for him to make another one days after the “science fair” on THEIR own time😭
It should be noted that some information wasn't in the video due to the fact that they were in the books. Yes this series has books and some are canon. I believe the books are the source of Dipper's real name.
Gravity falls is a great show and you should watch it its only has 2 seasons but has a story that i could not forget, and watching the finale made me cry its still can make me cry to this day So you should no must watch this amazing once in a lifetime of a show
I'm just here to say that Gravity falls, the owl house and amphibia are like the holy trinity of modern cartoons. They're genuinely great, and go watch them right now.
I really wish we could get a little bit more Gravity Falls content, whether that be a 3rd season, a movie, or even just more shorts. It was gone too soon.
a few more facts that weren't mentioned here Bill survived, In his final moment he summons the almighty axolotl which probably revives him. The series is over but it was continued in comics where there are also references to the reawakened Bill Cipher and one last thing Stanford was traveling with Rick from Rick and Morty, among other things. The clues for this are in the official 3 diary which you can actually buy 😁
The only reason you can't have constant high dopamine and serotonin is because eventually the body will reduce the amount of receptors, being able to prevent a loss of receptors however will prevent loss of happiness
Stan was rightfully pissed at ford. The man spent 3 decades of his life working to rescue Ford from the machine Ford stupidly created and the man didn't get so much as a "thank you Stan" afterwards. Then Ford took the time to go all grammar n*zi on Stan which resulted in the fight. If Ford had kept his mouth shut, Bill would have been dealt with then and there.
Stan didn't need to lunge at Ford either you know. He could have just told him to shut up or something. He's a grown ass man and could have controlled his temper for 5 minutes for the sake of the world
@@starcatcher9405 ford knows how his brother reacts to things, he even said as much. It's like taunting an animal and then acting surprised when it attacks.
If yer curious about how OP Bill is then the Channel Fawfuls Minion has a show called Unmasked where he does a rundown on a villain and he has one on Bill Cypher It really sells the idea that hes one of the strongest fictional characters ever
“The grandchildren of Stan and Ford’s younger brother Shermie” he says, showing a picture of the baby. “So rhey had to have had another sibling- are they adopted?”
Yeah, see Bill cipher destroyed his home dimension, but he definitely misses his home and knows he can’t return. He knows Mabel wouldn’t want to leave because he knows he wouldn’t want to leave.
They never actually said the saucer caused the weirdness. That was one option, the other being that the weirdness attracted the saucer. Journal 3's explanation of the town seems to lean towards the second option
I know this is an only lore related video, but it would've been nice for him to actually see some of the character arcs + include more episode detail. Half an hour doesn't rly do it justice.
You should actually watch it. They left out a lot such as the fact BIll destroyed his 2d universe and theirs a nightmare realm which re rules over which is utter chaos.
Fun fact: gravity falls is also somewhat connected to rick and Morty. When stan was working on the portal he drop a pen, notepad, and coffee mug and we see these items again in rick and Morty when rick open a bunch of portal to trick the other rick's.
23:58 You know there was a Sesame Street special where Elmo wished for it to be Christmas every day and eventually learned why that wasn't a good thing
