The Great Albatross - Man of Dust 

That's a deep emotional picture, in my opinion. A husband, who is far away, is finding out that his wife is pregnant goes through an emotional roller coaster. The technology definitely narrows the physical distance between them, but ... a human touch and presence in real life are exactly that - human and real. He feels that he is missing out on something really important - the change his wife is going though because of their baby. My guess is, he is trying to recreate the feeling and sensation that of his wife by wearing the fake pregnancy belly. Obviously it is only visual, but that is his way of connecting to her and a future child without being present there physically. But that's just my opinion.

I can't help but feel this as the music being an accessory to the video rather than a music video.

Great work. A story of a long distance relationship using a current day technology and an unexpected ending, which certainly leaves the viewers connecting the dots their own way.

Must admit the final scene suprised me.

I love the ending... And the reason why it's because it made people feel something... Whatever that feeling was for each person... It made an impact on them, it got them talking, wondering, discussing, and I think that's the idea after all, make people feel something with your art.

I think is great commentary about relationships in the digital age. I like how artistic a lot of the shots looked like. I also digged the documentary esque feel of the whole Music Video. The ending was very touching moment.

The ending is courageous and an appreciated view of a man who is expecting as well in his loneliness. Cool silhouette shots. Middle section musically went dark and dissonant when she is on computer screen putting on lipstick. It told some story and added to his emotional struggle but the music was so disconnected that it could have used a slightly more disconnected visual as well. I always look forward to your videos. I just bought a t3i for making my own music videos!

Really really good but, am I the only one who was a little weirded out by the ending? I feel like edited differently this could easily become a short horror film.. that being said, still really great.

If you wanna see a great budget music video check out VIS Ljubljeni ucenik - Samo Ti. Filmed with one camera, produced by friends, I did the video production, another friend wrote/recorded the song, the other one filmed the video and mixed the song. It cost us about 150 euros in total, to rent a small theater where we filmed and to buy a good used camera lense to make it look better. Everything else is a product of patience and making smart decisions while filming, such as good angles and so on. Check it out, you'll be surprised how well it looks and it cost us almost nothing!

Some music videos are longer than the original song, adding sounds or actions that lead up to the song. I believe that if this were four minutes, or even three and a half, it allows a more connecting build up. You would hear the couple’s words, their voices and emotions. Ties a viewer closer into it. Though, as the video was not shot exclusively for the music, Simon did what he could to bring it all together. Wonderful wonderful piece, especially considering all of the issues during production and the low budget presented. I do love the ending a lot, just seems a little sudden, due to shortness of song. Keep growing mate! Definitely a success!

Simon Cade has been my inspiration since i took interest in filmmaking. But I have to be brutally honest: 1. The film/video is overpowering the song. This is what happens when filmmaker initiated the music video project and looked for musicians rather than the other way around. 2. Editing is kinda sloppy, (and I dont think that glitch at 2:09 is intentional, and if it is, it's doesn't look like one) 3. The overall experience could have been enhanced with foley sounds, the third pillar of an impactful video 4. The imperfectness of the chroma keying is kinda obvious 5. Except for maybe a couple, all the shots are static. 6. Should have rented a camera that's better in low-light Kudos still for Simon considering all the constraints he and the team have to go through. As to the film story: The first half was kinda self-explanatory. But at 1:30 she is no longer pregnant, putting on makeup, not anymore as sweet, even a little argumentative, though she bade with a kiss which look rather obligatory. 1:48 that look on his face as he stood up is one of disbelief and extreme disappointment, not of loneliness of being faraway. 2:08 no more calls. Maybe the lady was not really pregnant after all, just a coy to ask for financial support. Or maybe she really was, but again was more interested in the support. Not to stereotype, but the Asian lady may not be his wife but someone he loved (fling) when he was "there". Maybe she was leaving him after getting some funds. About him donning a wrap, shows he already entertains the idea that he was being conned but still he finds solace because, if it is so, then there was no real baby that she was taking as she leaves him. That ending was still kinda open ended for me, but I dont think he did the wrap to know how a pregnant lady feels. And the song lyrics is actually more disturbing than it is romantic: man of dust, blood will spill there's a time for love , and a time to kill have no fear , righteous man, take me to the promise land Just my take on this.

This wasn’t really a music video just a short film I can’t even remember the song. It just sounded like background music. This whole video is just like a snippet from a romance movie. I remember the other music video you did with the girl in the bed or whatever. It was the same problem. Your next music video listen to the song and build around that.

Having lived for 3 years separated from my wife, this video hits way too close to home...

For the people that are being weirded out by the ending, I don't think that is the intention. The story is about how this man misses his partner and is not able to be present in such an important moment. The ending might just be him trying to feel physically close to his partner and to his baby. I don't see it as the scene showing us that he is crazy or something, just that he was bored and alone but still desperate to "be there". More than weird, I feel it as sad. At least that is my personal interpretation.

Not everyone likes the ending.... that's because they've never felt that type of desperate as the character in your film. You really nailed this one Simon 👏

Loved every bit of this video but the ending was a little confusing. I wasn’t sure if there were hints throughout so at the ending it was just shocking. But again man, with the canon t3i, you’re putting some filmmakers to shame sir, lol. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
