Oliver and Lucas go on a snorkelling cruise to learn about the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, the largest coral reef in the world and its marine life for kids!
In this educational video for 7 year olds and educational video for 5 year olds, they will experience one of the wonders of the natural world, up close and personal as they travel in a glass bottom boat and explore the colourful world underneath the water and learn about the sea life for kids.
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world. It has the world's most extensive coral reef ecosystem and has been declared by the United Nations a World Heritage site. It is located in the Coral Sea, off the northeastern coast of Australia.
It is larger than the entire country of Italy and is the size of about 70 million football fields!
The sea life of the reef is extraordinary as its an important place for lots of animals, big and small. The Great Barrier Reef is so spectacular that even astronauts can see it from the moon.
Oliver and Lucas get a chance to travel in a glass bottom boat so they can explore the colourful world underneath the water and get a closer look at the coral.
The reef has been formed over millions of years from the skeletons of millions of tiny corals. A Coral Reef is a rocky piece of ground in the ocean that is made of and home to animals called coral. Coral look a lot like plants but are actually small animals that make, and live in, a hard, rocky material. Instead of moving around like most animals, they attach to the rocks and stay there for the rest of their lives. Thats why they might seem like plants because plants don't move around either.
The Great Barrier Reef is beautiful but also contains some of the deadliest animals in the ocean, including Box Jellyfish, the Blue Ringed Octopus, and Stone Fish. There are at least 400 types of coral, 4,000 types of molluscs and 1,500 species of fish many with brilliant colours and unusual shapes.
