to all of you out there from a twenty year professional, read the msds sheets of any products and put in the cas number of each ingredient and find out what it is exactly if it doesnt say on there and find out about the product as much as you can (for example 8012-95-1 which is parrafin oil) and learn to understand what each ingredient is and what's it's there to do. my teacher and mentor who is a chemist, thirty year detailing pro and detailing product chemical company director has taught me a heap of stuff and one of them is what each ingredient is and what's it's there to do and which are good and bad. it has helped me alot over the years. any company that refuses to provide msds or sds sheets as their also known as, you should refuse to buy product from, I know I won't. I am glad to help out those who want to learn more.

I truly appreciate and trust your advice. I have gotten into detailing as a hobby thanks to you maniacs! I bought Hydrosilex and used it on my daughter's car as a test. I was very impressed with the results. They overexaggerate their claims but wanted something that was easier to apply than a ceramic coating. I obviously did not do my research on other more cost effective options. When I have finished up this bottle, I will be more diligent in my next purchase. Thanks again Jon! Keep up the good work!

I use and swear by TLC the last coat. I personally don't see anything incorrect in their advertising. Ive used f11 and my comparison video completely agree with the above. Their claims ARE highly exaggerated. Its not that you never NEED to wash your car again when f11 is on the car, rather you CANNOT. My tests prove f11 disappears very quickly. The last coat, on the otherhand i absolutely swear by. The durability far exceeds f11 and you CAN use a car soap (ph neutral of course). I don't see or have experienced any false claims in their advertising.

thanks camero yes important point they are not all gonna be the same products. The last coat Ive not heard of before though. looking at their site though it does seem on the surface of it they are overcharging. I can almost guess the origins of a lot off them. One point I wanted to make in the video, is that these types of products can perform well. In fact really well. So some of these products may well be decent. but overpriced and as soon as I read the testimonial and the video links it just smells like the other ones and how they promote them (water based siloxane for lots of money). thats why if you ask on forums you will likely get a product recomendation which is just as good (or better) for a lot less.

I've seen the ads and they provide "lifetime" protection, we laughed at it but from the point of view that the advertisers wouldn't know how old cars we drive in Finland. The best legit Ceramic coatings could indeed be lifetime when the car's life is around 3 years. But yeah, a background check for products is easy nowadays. Also, a new smartphone for only $1 dollar. Only for you. Please give Credit card details :D

Optimum Clear Coat Restorer is something you really have to get your hands on! Test it when it is available (it was introduced now at SEMA 2018) and tell your honest opinion! I'm actually looking forward to the new Meguiars offering of this type of spray on rinse off product. They unveiled it at SEMA, their Hybrid Ceramic Wax. Just looks like Carpro Hydro2, Gyeon Wetcoat, or any of the other offerings of that nature. 26oz for 15 dollars, and I believe it'll be available locally which is really appealing to me. Even then, if you waited for a 20-25% off sale and free shipping on a website that carries it, you could potentially pick it up for like 12 dollars. Which seems like a really solid deal. Unless it's a terrible product, but I can't imagine it would perform any differently than the others on the market.

Also Meguiars new 2019 spray on Ceramic coating, which says on the front of the bottle SIO2 ingredients, now its basically the same as CAR PROS Hydro 2, spray on wet surface and rinse off, but again you have to read the instructions, which states that you have to put down a foundation layer, meaning you apply it just a like a wax o other type of sealant? the best thing is that its too little too late for meguiers, meaning that there's plenty of spray on coatings or sealants sold by pro detailing suppliers which are a lot cheaper and works really well, not a dedicated Ceramic coating like those tested or reviewed on this channel ? So as far as meguiers spray on SIO2 coating, why bother spray it on a wet surface, when you could wash your car and put the foundation coat on it and then the next time you wash the car, do it again, that way your always upping the protection, at least thats what i would do, as its the hi pressure water and water combined which activates the product. :)

Can any spray product really be a true ceramic? Surely the nozzle would get blocked in no time? I actually prefer siloxane based products tbh. I am not an expert on ceramic coatings and have never used one,but I have been watching youtube vids about them for awhile. Only the past few months did I start hearing about these so called SPRAY ON ceramic coatings.Ceramics to my knowledge have always been in maybe 4 or 5 oz bottles,not sure but very small.they usually last what? 2 years or more.Many of you have more knowledge about this than I do.So my question to all of you is, how can these so called SPRAY ON ceramic coatings come in such a large bottle.They must be diluted alot. Is it water,other liquid fillers,whatever,I don't know. It's very suspicious that a company like Adam's for example claim that their spray on ceramic coatings is 9h,which i have heard traditional ceramic coatings are about 8h or higher and last two years or more when Adam's, and other companies say that their SPRAY ON ceramic coatings last maybe 6 or 8 months .Any thoughts are appreciated.Am I stupid?am I missing something?.it just seems like common sense to me.these companies do sound like they are being somewhat deceptive.i would love to hear all your thoughts.do I make sense?

@@ForensicDetailing You should try Kamikaze's Miyabi Coat Jon. It's about 80$ for a bottle but me and a friend managed to get 2 layers on 4 cars out of one bottle. So around 10$ a layer or 20$ to ceramic a car. Ease of use, looks and hydrophobicity are tremendous. It's mainly the ease of use that's hysterical. You can literally forget a panel for like 20 minutes without any issues. Something you don't get on other real coatings. Gives you alot less stress and peace of mind which I think makes it very fu n to work with!

When speaking of siloxanes, which type of products are based on those then? Is it the WetCoat/HydrO2 types or the spraysealant with SiO2 types, like ReLoad?
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 5 лет назад
so any protection product generally that you spray on and can rinse will contain a cationic siloxane. In the same way you have cationic surfactants. They are drawn to the clearcoat and then they bond to it. The terms SIO2 can literally mean anything, silicon dioxide literally so forms of silica with that single silcon molecule and 2 oxygen molecules a whole range of materials can be silicates. Something like wet coat is siloxane based but its either a really cool form of siloxane which hardens more than others or it has something which makes it go harder. something like reload I believe is siloxane based as well but contains another components (the white stuff) which is a form of silica (trimethyolated silica). Im not sure what this version of silica brings to the table.
@flemmingjensen3202
@flemmingjensen3202 5 лет назад
Forensic Detailing Channel Thanks Jon, so the "pressure wash off" products contain siloxane. To clarify, the ReLoad is a spray on SiO2 sealant which does NOT work when sprayed off. I've had to try of course. ;-)

Forensic Detailing Channel I gave it a go with the Kärcher a while back, and it didn't work at all. Left nothing on the paint. Aren't you thinking of HydrO2? Or maybe CarPro changed the formula? It is a _spray_ on, wipe off product though. But, let's not split hairs here ;-)
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 5 лет назад
hydro02 and reload will both use siloxanes.. but reload has a form of silica in it as well. the difference will be the ones design to be sprayed on and rinsed off in my view have a much high concentration of siloxanes. reload has silixanes in it (and the trimethoylated silica) but its not designed to be sprayed on and rinsed off, so its probably a different concentration thats more appropraite for its usage.

@TheLastCoat
@TheLastCoat 5 лет назад
@@ForensicDetailing, first off, I'm happy to answer any questions you would have about The Last Coat. We get lots of questions about vehicles with oxidation, and we always state that The Last Coat isn't going to perform as well on a vehicle with heavy oxidation and that it won't remove that. We're very transparent when helping customers out on what our product can and can't do. I can't speak for the other products and companies that have been referenced, but we're detailers ourselves, that's how we started and that's still what we do. We're certified ceramic installers as well, and we still install ceramics when it's requested. We were getting great results internally with our product and figured others could get great use out of it. We're not the villains that some in this thread are attempting to make us out to be. We often recommend other companies products if we feel that's the product that will do the right job. Since it was mentioned, TLD Products polishing compound is one we recommend all the time for those wanting to DIY their paint correction. We've spoken well about CarPro products and others as well. Frankly, having someone state that we're a "100% scam" is simply wrong. And no, there was no "big scuffle", I would be happy to privately send you the discussion we had with this individual. I'm not sure if they have a personal vendetta with us, or they work for a competitor. Who knows? As @WestCoastCamaroZ28 and others on RU-vid have said, they are happy with the product and with the service from our company. They feel they have gotten their monies worth, and are happy with the results. As far as using advertising to get our name out. Well, we aren't Meguiars, or Griots, or Chemical Guys. We don't have massive followings. We're a young company so we can't, yet, benefit from a long history in the industry. I'd be happy to take feedback so that we can adjust our message, or make things more clear to the end visitor. Happy to hear it, and we take constructive feedback from Pros and DIY'ers seriously. We're always looking to improve. Selling online is new to us. And yes we always say, there are lots of great products out there and if someone finds something that does a great job, then great. Finally, as for our pricing. CarPro Reload is a well-respected product in the industry, and we've had people say it's comparable to The Last Coat and we've noticed that too. It's a good solid product. Reload retails on their site for $34.99 for a bottle. The Last Coat, for one bottle, is $39.97. The difference is, if I buy 4 bottles of Reload it will go for $139.96. We give price breaks on volume and 4 bottles of The Last Coat are currently $99.97. So that's about $25/bottle and we throw in a couple of our 400 GSM towels as well. Their gallon is $219.99, ours is $189.99 before any discount codes when available. Anyway, my point on mentioning the pricing to show that we're pretty comparable with what's out there. Like I said, happy to answer any questions and take any constructive feedback.

@@ForensicDetailing - Point taken - but like I've said before. I think his channel and the ideals he pedals are generally unhealthy for kids/teens that don't recognize that he's simply a man boy that's very very sheltered. His channel sums up an empty purposeless life and generally why people hate Americans. Like other youtube uploaders he has a platform to sell his crap and broadcast his thinly veiled bragging about how awesome he is all the while whining about his pretend mental illness and scratches on his GT3 and so on while telling you to buy his $100 wash bucket. Promote him all you want, I and many many others that dislike him will simply move on to other content.

holy shit your scaring me now :) unhealthy for kids? very very sheltered? purposeless life? hate americans? selling crap? Bragging? pretend mental illness? Id say its very clean healthy content I would happily let my kids watch it (wouldnt say that about much of whats on YT), hes about 5000 times less sheltered than me in fact he has viewers dropping in to meet him, community events where he goes and meets other car enthusiasts he lets people in on his life, his life is a hell of a lot better than mine btw Id swap places tommorrow lol. he doesnt sell crap either, the opposite of crap, I cant afford all that stuff but I kind of aspire to bits and pieces of it, I want to get the garage done like with metal workshop cabs just like matt has it. I would happily tell peeps to go give OG a watch, its on my featured channels list, I could tell you another story about why it is, I pinged matt about 3 years ago when I had like 38 subscribers and 1 video lol, I said something like hey matt do you want to feature my channel on your you tube channel and ill feature yours thinking thats a fair deal! (feature as in using the "featured channels" option, not like do a video). I realise now channels with lots of subs dont feature channels with like 38 subs, why would they nothing in it for them, in fact they are "featuring" a complete unknown with no content, who might turn out to be an idiot. If someone asked me to feature a channel with 38 subs Id tell them to fuck off (in a nice way). Because I dont give a shit about their channel (kind of), Im in it for my channel, im in it for me, im an asshole (true). Nether the less your man there who you only see the bad in, stuck my channel his featured list.

@@ForensicDetailing I think you're a good dude and I really like what you're doing. Your content is awesome. Promote who you like, who am I to tell you what to do with you content. You seem like an intelligent man so it does surprise me that you think his display of financing items such as cars and a home equal a better life. I strongly suspect the outward appearance is much much different than his reality... That's another story all together, most car guys feel he makes car ownership not fun and promotes the idea of lock and seal it away and never play with your toys because you may scratch them, which is silly and the exact opposite of how you derive joy from this hobby. To each there own. Cheers and I wish you much success with your channel.
