This movie is amazing! I've seen it twice already& I'd love to see it again. There's been 5 movies made based off the great gatsby&this one is the best one if you haven't seen it, u should!.
Mr.Luhrman...I recognized those tiny little drops of rain ... on the jackets of two gentlemen,, but could not figure out what they were exactly ... since I watched this video... Thank you for this incredibly beautiful movie ... once again I fell in love with cinema...
The only thing about this scene that doesn't make sense nor is ever explained was the reason gatsby had his house all lit up! And was all edgy and nervous when Nicks car pulled up as if he was hoping it was Daisy? My I Terence would be that while not in the mood for going thru the trouble in having a party, he chose to make his house bright enough as if to say he was! To get the attention of Daisy.
He was checking all the rooms in his house to make sure everything would be ready fore Daisy's possible arrival. He is edgy and nervous because he hates to ask a favor of anybody; he feels bad asking Nick to invite Daisy to tea. He really does do this in the book.
If an egg stinks, you don't have to taste it to prove its already rotten. There is no contradiction in my argument, all the reviews already provided enough information. I made a prediction based on my own experiences and then it was confirmed by many critics especially those have similar taste with me.
"More Gatsby-est?" This is the level of arrogance on this film. Why didn't try to just do the story and leave the "improvements" at home on their pillows.
See you become more and more personal and hateful, you know that is just sign of impotency and disgrace of a typical fanboy. But yeah, I would like to enlighten you a bit, I suggest you read Revolutionary Road and 11 Kinds of Loneliness by Richard Yates, understand what Leo's character should be and how he just did it out of the period and the character and reached almost the total opposite.
Leonardo DiCaprio: most successful Hollywood actor at ruining American literature. You don't need to watch the film or the trailer, as long as he is on the billboard, you know it is a piece of shit and it sucks.
So you get nothing in your mind on American literature except a bunch of stupid Hollywood blockbusters? Read Richard Yates and see how lame DiCaprio is in Revolutionary Road.
No, I don't hate any stupid movie stars personally, but I do hate to see this big-corporate-dominated consumerist culture oppressing talented artists and promoting lousy ones like Leonardo. Most of his performances are mediocre at best. And he did fuck up great American literature before, like Revolutionary Road. Do I have to see a movie before bashing it, actually no, movie business is a very predictable thing and many critics who have seen it confirmed it really sucks.
