ikr i wish that there were more people like this. and i think that the internet in general should be free. there are too many other opportunities to make money off of it.
i don't understand this quote. I haven't* read the entire book yet but our professor mentioned it in class. I assume it's an important quote to think about.
Strangely, the human mind rejects certain meals after so many days in a row of consuming, though it tends to never grow tired of ingesting food laden with sugar
I've been listening to this audiobook when I go to sleep...My mistake was that one day I forgot to pause it and it played all night, and the PANIC I felt at 4:21:40!! I just woke up to this wail of "oH mY gOd!!! OH gOdDdD!!! oH My GOd!!" I never woke up so quickly...I swear I almost got a heart attack.
I start school in two week and I know that we are going to read this in the English class where the teacher hates my guts so I’m reading it ahead of time to be her favorite 🤪🤪🤪 Update: I’m the teacher’s pet
@Yeet Skideet I wish someone felt that way about me... but even if someone did feel strongly enough to change everything about himself just to please me I probably wouldn't have desired him that much anyway because he wouldn't have earned his wealth in a way that could be respected-- IF I was Daisy, I mean.
I’m studying the great Gatsby and it’s honestly my favorite thing I’ve ever studied. It’s also my favorite thing to listen to so I can relax and fall asleep when I’m struggling to. The voice is so soothing. Smh I’ll know my quotes for the exam from the amount of times I’ve listened to this
Thank you so much for uploading this audio book. I didn't want to invest the time to read the book since I saw the movie already and therefore knew the basic plot. I enjoyed the book version more than I anticipated. It also made a tedious task much more enjoyable.
This is such a help! THANK YOU! I need to rush-finish the book for my English class, I really like this book and I can't read too fast when I like a book, so the audiobook helps greatly!
Thank you so much! I am an accounting major and my last prerequisite is a humanities class about the American Dream. We have to read 5 books and it's so much work trying to balance a job, my first place, and school, this audio helps so much because now I can listen to the book at work!
My school literature is Portuguese, so i didn't have to study this, which is a shame, becaue i love this book, but we have some good ones here, i suggest Eça de Queiroz-The Maias, and José Saramago-The year of death of Ricardo Reis
This is a classic that the teenage brain cannot relate to. Cram and good luck on your exams but someday you’ll reread this and appreciate for all it’s beauty.
Truly a work of art! This book is genuine genius at its highest calibre. His descriptions, the dialogue, the powerful scenes, unforgettable characters, make this book the best out there folks. Read it, don't listen. Marvel at Fitzgerald's wit amongst the pages.
I can’t believe ppl hate this book because of school, the book doesn’t deserve hate from lazy ass students. I would be so happy if in my country I could read it for school, the book deserves more. Give it a chance, give it your time.
We read it as a class and I really can't do that I wish the teacher gave us the period to read for the week it's hard to comprehend it throws me off and we have to do an essay. Teachers don't understand the anxiety students have before reading allowed in a whole class it's better to read silent to yourself
Vanessa Marie reading aloud you mean. And I understand that anxiety. Your teacher should know you’re only concentrating on what you have to read, and not paying attention to the story. And it’s sad because it’s a wonderful story (when you aren’t forced to read it).
Mild SPOILER saw that 3d movie which gave me a headache but I liked the story very much. I was rooting for Jay at first. But now, I'm actually a bit angry with the character. An adult with so many resources, such talent, such drive and what does he do; chases a dream. Like a child. and in doing so; causes very adult problems. And then the narrator, falling under Gatsby' s spell and naively pointing the finger at all who suffered under Gatsby's chasing his dream.
Yeah, you nailed it. A good book, (and a good picture,) shows a character change (hence all the coming-of-age movies --) but in this one, the main character kinda changes for the worse. He had all those plans, dreams, dedication, loyalty, etc., and he went out east and became corrupt. It's funny how the narrator (I'm not sure even what his name is, after this whole book,) says ``it's a story of westerners -- Gatsby, Daisy and I were all from west of the Ohio River . . .'' Wow -- ``west of the Ohio'' was considered a westerner back then. I consider ``the West'' to be west of the Mississippi. But I do distinguish ``out East'' as being corrupter and crime-infesteder than ``out West.'' (California notwithstanding.)
Am I the only one here cuz this book happens to appear on every such results of "Best must reqd books, or top 10 best book - must read" on google?? And now I am.. Can someone recommend and clearer reader? Feels like he slurring all through 😩
It was all Gatsby's. He should've checked his own morals and dreams. We all think our dreams are pure and our love is righteous- even when it causes death and devastation.
