A person after seeing this movie told me, that he didn't like it because it's just showing cooking, cleaning and other kitchen stuff repeatedly throughout and is very boring. I told him... If you're feeling bored just by seeing it repeatedly, just imagine how bored your wife or mother would feel doing this work repeatedly throughout their life. He couldn't reply to that. So i said... That is exactly what the film wants to tell you. One of the best movies in recent times...The true condition of a common Indian woman. It's a slap to the face of all people who think that a daughter, wife, or a daughter in law is just a person who is supposed to serve a Man's needs throughout their life. We'll literally feel like telling "Idhulum bedham oru hotel nadathiya naalu paisa engilum sambadhikkayirunnu".

Good movie..... പെൺകുട്ടികൾക്ക് കുറേ ആഭരണങ്ങളും, കാറും കൊടുത്തു ചെക്കന്റെ വീട്ടുകാരെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും സഹായിക്കുന്നതിനും പകരം ആ കാശുകൊണ്ട് അവര്ക്കിഷ്ടമുള്ളത് പഠിപ്പിക്കാൻ ഇനിയെങ്കിലും രക്ഷിതാക്കൾ ശ്രമിക്കുക. എന്നിട്ട് മതി കല്യാണം..... അവർക്ക് കൊടുക്കുന്ന സ്വർണവും, കാറുമൊന്നും അവർക്ക് ഉപകാരപ്പെട്ടുകൊള്ളണമെന്നില്ല.... അവരുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ആർക്കും പണയം വെക്കാനോ, വിൽക്കണോ പറ്റില്ല.... വേണമെങ്കിൽ അവർക്ക് ജോലിയെടുത്ത് സുഖമായി jeevikkam

I am proud to say I taught my 3 year old son to bring his plate to the kitchen after dinner a year ago and he now helps me in bringing everything from dining table to kitchen after a meal, bless his innocent heart ❤️ I wish to teach my boy everything I would have taught a daughter if I had one in his place! This movie is truly remarkable and shows what all a typical housewife has to go through in a house that follows the old ways and yes such families still exist!

സത്യം ആദ്യമൊക്കെ കല്യാണത്തിന് പോകുമ്പോൾ കല്യാണ പെണ്ണിനെ ഒക്കെ കാണുമ്പോൾ ഭയങ്കര സന്തോഷമായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ ഇപ്പോൾ കല്യാണ പെണ്ണിനെ കാണുമ്പോൾ ഒരു ദയനീയതയാണ് തോന്നുന്നത് ഇതൊക്കെ കുറച്ചുദിവസത്തേക്ക് മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ എന്ന് അറിയാതെ ആണല്ലോ ഇരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് ആലോചിക്കുമ്പോൾ. എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ താഴത്തും തലയിലും വയ്ക്കാതെയാണ് എന്നെ വളർത്തിയത് കല്യാണം കഴിഞ്ഞു ഭർത്താവിന്റെ വീട്ടിലെത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവരുദ്ദേശിച്ച രീതിയിൽ ഉള്ള സ്വർണ്ണമില്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് എവിടുന്നോ വലിഞ്ഞു കേറി വന്നവരോടുള്ള പോലെയാണ് പെരുമാറ്റം നല്ല രീതിയിൽ കല്യാണം കഴിഞ്ഞു വന്നിട്ട് വഴിയിൽ കിടക്കുന്ന പട്ടിയോടുള്ള വിലപോലും തരുന്നില്ല. നമുക്ക് മറ്റാരുമില്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് ഇങ്ങോട്ട് വന്നതാ എന്നുള്ള രീതിയിലാണ് നമ്മളോടുള്ള പെരുമാറ്റം. പക്ഷേ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിന്റെ സപ്പോർട്ട് ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ട് നല്ല അന്തസ്സായിട്ട് ഫൈറ്റ് ചെയ്തു പിടിച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്നു അഞ്ചാറു കൊല്ലത്തോളം ഒന്നും മിണ്ടാതെ സഹിച്ചു ഇപ്പോൾ ഇങ്ങോട്ട് ഉള്ളത് അതേ രീതിയിൽ തന്നെ തിരിച്ചങ്ങോട്ടും പെരുമാറുന്നു. നമ്മൾ എന്തിനാണ് കണ്ടവന്റെ വായിലിരിക്കുന്നത് കേട്ടു മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്നത് ഇങ്ങോട്ട് എങ്ങനെയാണോ പെരുമാറുന്നത് അതുപോലെ തന്നെ തിരിച്ചും കൊടുക്കുക നമ്മളെന്താ ആരും ഇല്ലാത്തവരാണോ

The eye opener in this movie is that nothing in the husband's household changed even after the wife left. We see the beginning of season 2 with the same lifestyle/culture in the second last scene. Such a beautiful movie. I liked the way the bangles were shown. It is so symbolic. The more the housewife is burdened with housework, the lesser her bangles become on her hand. U can't work with bangles in the hand. All the actors were too good. She loves her husband & is ready to slog so much. But he breaks her heart ,when he tells her, she is not pretty for foreplay. Simply loved the sad expression in her eyes. Glad she rebels .she can't be treated like a servant.Even servants wil quit , if given more work. We women also like to stay away from kitchen work, sometimes. Loved the way, she makes tea from the waste water & the way , she throws the water at both the men . The chanting of the word SWAMI really made me laugh, because it was done in such a hilarious manner. The tune remained wit me throughout the day & made me laugh.

Finally... Someone makes a movie about the most underestimated job in the world and the most underestimated space in our house (kitchen)... Only someone who cooks understands the level of hard work that goes into putting food on our plate... I can write essays on this topic.. I have so much to say yet very less words. Salute to all home makers and every one who is involved in making this movie.

When I visit American homes here, their cooking is really simple. Often involves very few pots or pans. So easy to clean. No stains of masala or such. And ingredients are readily available or steamed or consumed raw (like salads). They put dinner on the stove and it’s ready with such little effort as compared to our cooking. Here our women really toil for all 3 meals. The kitchen itself resembles a junkyard after a meal with lots of utensils to clean.

@@prasadvalappil6094 Not much of those either. They consume chicken, veggies etc which are lightly cooked / steamed (usually everything goes into one instant pot on different racks). Incidentally they are 60-80 year olds who don’t have pressure, diabetes or other lifestyle diseases which we Indians get as a birthright once we cross a certain age. Maybe it’s their consistent level of physical activity (swimming, jogging, kayaking, ice-fishing etc which they do year round) or maybe just some good genes! 😅

We can't change society because our parents have a traditional mindset..But we can change ourselves towards for what we want to be like right?. Every person in life want to be independent in their life.. it's a basic things for person. Now days women are literate so they have a dreams and goals to achieve... women not only supposed to do household work..Men and women both can be spilt work in household.. It's too much. I agree there is discrimination faced by women but this is just extreme. Literally they are showing 1980's. now in 2022 such things are very very rare especially in Kerala. Even I am from a middle class family and every person I have seen in my 28 years of life, they all respect their wives and 95 per cent of them goes for work too because it's impossible nowadays to live with only a single persons income. These things happen only in the house of the poorest of the poor(less than 2% of total population in kerala) and criminals and adivasis. Even the poor gives much much more respect to women in Kerala.

Bollywood acters വരെ ഈ സിനിമയെ വാഴ്ത്തി പാടുന്നു..... പിന്നെ തീയേറ്റർ ആയിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ ശശികലയും ടീംസും കയറും പൊട്ടിച്ചോണ്ട് ഇറങ്ങി കുല സ്ത്രീകൾ തെരുവിൽ ഇറങ്ങി വർഗീയത യുടെ കാവി കോമരങ്ങൾ തെരുവിൽ കോടി പിടിച്ചേനെ. തിയേറ്റർ നു മുൻപിൽ ജാഥ, സമരം, ഹർത്താൽ, ചാനൽ ചർച്ചകൾ, psycho രാഹുൽ ഈശ്വറിന്റെ അലർച്ച അങ്ങനെ....... ആരും തൊടാൻ മടിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിഷയം ഇത്ര ധൈര്യത്തോടെ സിനിമ ആക്കിയ സംവിധായകന് സല്യൂട്ട് 👍

This movie is promoting Hindu phobia. As if these things don’t happen in other communities in India. As if ladies in Md. family have any freedom. They can’t even separate from their husbands on their own! While men can say talaq thrice and throw them out! What’s the point in showing Ayyappa puja in the movie? Do the movie makers have guts to show Ramadaan and housewife opposing it? You guys take every liberty to show Hindus in poor light. Disgusting!

This movie is legit stuff of my nightmares as an unmarried Malayali woman in my 30s, even though I have been brought up outside Kerala. The toxic culture of pushing women to the kitchen no matter how educated or accomplished they are...is something I still witness happening to my bhabhis, friends and cousins. My parents did not ensure I receive the highest levels of education so that I end up washing plates every day in my husband's house for Pete's sake! I am not saying this happens in every household...it NEVER happens in mine...but I don't want to risk ending up with someone who would show his true colours after some time and reduce my accomplishments to nothing. Till such an exotic creature appears...imma live my awesome life with my awesome job, my awesome pay and my awesome friends, and continue taking care of MY awesome parents!

This movie shows women's day to day life and the hardships. There are very few among these who actually support women in their career. But all the others just tell them to adjust. Women must be treated equally as men. Hats off to Director sir, and the starring female lead in the movie.👏👏👏👏

സൂപ്പർ. ജീവിതത്തെ എവിടെയൊക്കെയോ തൊട്ടുപോയപോലെ. ഈ വീട്ടുജോലിക്കിടയിൽ,നമുക്കൊരു അസുഖം വന്നാൽ, നമ്മുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ നോക്കാൻ ആളില്ലാഞ്ഞാൽ, നമ്മൾ ഒരുനിമിഷം പകച്ചുപോകും. അപ്പോഴുണ്ടാകുന്ന വേദന പറഞ്ഞറീക്കാൻ പറ്റില്ല. സൂപ്പർ ഫിലിം. ഓരോ സ്ത്രീകളുടെയും. മറ്റുള്ളവരെ പറഞ്ഞു മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ പാടുപെടുന്ന കാര്യം അതേപോലെ ഒപ്പിയെടുത്ത സിനിമ. 👍👍👍👍

Relevant, wonderful and crisp, but one thing is missing. It isn't only the men who propagate patriarchy. Elderly women are the ones responsible. Usually the loudest voice of dissent in a household where the daughters in law work/live or parent in their own way, is the mother-in-law's. I wish more people see that. Anyhow a thought provoking and brilliant movie
