It would be interesting if Rattigan were “Shrewigan”, an anthropomorphic shrew who hates being called a rat (this isn’t a rhetorical question)? Shrews (although they look somewhat like mice) aren’t even in the same order (biological category) as mice and rats or, in other words, aren’t even closely related! What this is all about is to pay homage/tribute ot the fact in biology that some animals may look similar but may not even be remotely related. An example is how whales (mammals) look somewhat similar to fish and sharks. What would you think about this kind of scene? Any thoughts?
I really love how slowly and methodically Rattigan’s plan plays out. Most Disney villains outright state their intentions in the beginning, but we don’t know the full extent of Rattigan’s ambitions until this scene.
I love how even though the robot queen's eyes are supposed to be perpetually open and empty, they became narrower and glaring when Basil takes control.
I love how much fun Basil is having in this scene. Most heroes in kids' movies don't get to have devious fun when taking down their respective villains; the heroes beating the villain are usually fighting back out of fear, duty or determination but they're not generally "enjoying" it. Basil is so gleefully happy at being able to best his rival and we love to see it!
Much like Sherlock on whom he’s based, Basil isn’t motivated by morality or doing good, he’s in it to stroke his own ego and taking down his rival, and this is just the ultimate payoff for him.

It's common for films to recycle different noises. I believe there are actual libraries filled with tapes and digital copies of sounds specifically for movie makers to go through and put in their films.

@@kirawedderburn And this scene took place after Basil and Dawson had narrowly escaped Ratigan’s Rube Goldberg death trap, too. You KNOW darn well that at least some of this is Basil’s way of saying, “Na-na-na-boo-boo, you didn’t kill me!”
