From what I understood, most valuable things in a Viking community was owned by the community. Why build a personal wood oven and burn a tree to make bread for a single family. Better to have an communal oven that is warmed and be used by all bread making wifes.

I heard Orwell fought as a international proletarian volunteer/ally in the Spanish civil war, and then got disillusioned with Marxism seeing Communists in action along with Soviet Red Army when they intervened in that conflict. He spoke out against Stalin and the Soviet Union and saw its similarities with Germany during the last world war.

@Red Cyclops I actually aggree with you. Basically, George Orwell would not have written Animal Farm and 1984 if he was one of 'them'. Compare his works to HG Welles and you see a great difference. Orwell criticised Communism and made comparisons between the Soviets and fascists. HG Welles on the other hand was like a salesman for the new world order. HG Welles also had anti-semitic ideas.

The materialistically infected systems have taken humanity to the very edge of the cliff. The only way back is A COMPLETE REVERSAL and this will only happen when the current systems completely collapse. And this is not going to look pretty. My greatgrandfather was a blacksmith. Several years ago I took a weekend blacksmith course with my Dad. The course was out in the Ozark hills of Arkansas U.S.A., near where I live. It was an incredible experience. If we can't spend much of time out in the countryside; life is going to be unbearable. I've been able to continue working during this dystopia; however loneliness is getting oppressive for me. I'm a natural loner who is getting uncomfortably lonely. Enjoy your blacksmithing, woodworking, and nature. It's good for the soul.

I've worked in healthcare since the early 1980's, and I am used to wearing masks occasionally, and seeing others in masks in hospital settings; however seeing mass masking is so weird.

When I was a young lad growing up in the 50’s everyone had a garden in their back yard. We used to trade fruits and veggies from our neighbours. We stored food from the garden for the winter. We are too dependent on the grocery stores. Nothing wrong with being even a little self sufficient .

Well Bible says in the last days people will not be able to buy or trade without the mark of the beast...try to open a bank account without a social security number...people are very ill prepared for the barter system but it will be crucial to have a skillset in order to be able to produce something for trade or the person who has relied on money but has not developed any skills will lose in that scenario.

Even through the dark ages, there were pockets of those who didn't abandon reason and the knowledge of our previous generation. Much of that is being lost on this generation but if you seek it, its still largely available. We live in the information age. A simple internet search will answer most questions or give you clues how to learn more on almost any topic.

Other nations have total dictators and absolute rulers. If we don't want that here, we need take a stand. I dont advocate violence, but I think we have the ability to seek peace with our political opponents despite what our "rulers" want. It starts in youtube comments. Communism in pure form must take as a premise that all people are inherently good, altruistic, and willing to work and contribute to society equally “according to their ability”. To me, this cannot succeed because there will always be people that do not want to pull their own weight in society. Human ticks, sucking resources from others. It also presumes that everyone is happy with and agrees that they will all share the same amount of power and influence... but there will always be those that want to become more powerful than others and control them. A power vacuum will always be filled. Humans and animals are inescapably hierarchy-based. Our best try is to keep those at the top from abusing those below them. Are all those in power corrupt? No necessarily, but all the corrupt tend to want to become powerful because it affords them the means to feed a self-indulgent nature. You can’t create a utopia in a world of selfishness and laziness. The more selfish and lazy we become as humans (and thanks to technology and modern convenience, we are only heading further in that direction) the further we are from any hopes of making any type of socialist/communist system work. (And I mean this is only a good thing in the truest, purest theoretical version of these systems- not the ones we’ve come to see in practice.) In fact, it’s already too far gone. They keep failing and will continue to fail worse and worse as we head in the direction of evil and sin. The closest we’ve come to any type of successful communistic system is tribalism where you are forced by the society to contribute or lose your membership in that society. Tribalism was also based on survival- it was necessary for every member of the tribe to do their duty or everyone died. They didn’t have Playstations, Instagram and porn. Convenience and privilege has ruined us as humans. So yes- any political system without God at the top will eventually crash and burn due to man’s sinful nature.

In the US at least, each state has its own set of laws and often sues the Federal Government to strike down encroachments on its sovereignty. Add to that the 2nd Amendment and the fact that trying to enforce the commands of a tyrant may well get you killed (and disgraced postmortem), and you now have a police-force that, no matter how sadistic or mercenary, checks its tyranny out of the selfish desire to survive. There is much to be angry and sad about, but despair is their greatest (often only) weapon, which is why their TV-Elite minions push on us the illusion of their power. I've had to start over so many times with little or nothing...the first time may be traumatic or devastating but with whatever you lose in the material world you realize that you actually gain more in the process ...things like confidence tenacity strength and endurance and that mostly on a mental and emotional level and the knowledge that if you've survived it once you can survive it again as in what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...but who does not learn from history is doomed to repeat it...not only on a global scale but also on a personal level. Life is not only a chain of events but a chain of lessons and those who fail to learn them are doomed to repeat them. I am content with much and content with little happiness is a choice I will always choose which is why people marvel how I can be happy in the crappies of circumstances. I have not yet seen the worst so I am not sure how I would react in that situation but I would just look back on my bag of tricks as experience to see how to get through yet another challenge.

"Ownership" of "stuff" doesn't make people happy by itself. But I think the personal responsibility of taking care of your own things like clothing, tools, equipment, vehicles, and houses, and the freedom to improve them, or let them fall apart, is healthy and beneficial in every society world wide throughout most all history. When you can have "personal property" that is your responsibility to care for it also adds on more purpose and benefit to your actions and life. Imagine they take it a step further and say you aren't responsible for raising your kids? The state can do that for you, better. Thats happened before. Nations have removed parental rights from parents. Its only one step beyond property rights.

I wear a mask for other people and the dilemma we are facing. The social implications have to be met within the community you dwell. I wear a mask because the few stores opened require them. We continue to NOT KNOW what more is evolving from the virus. Not caring any more is not the answer in my humble opinion. Not caring anymore what the government says is another thought process. @@janevolkin8067 When required to wear a mask, which is every store as I'm living in northern states this winter, I wear a mask I used to wear when snowboarding. The portion that covers your face is magnetic so it can be detached, but even when it's up, it has plenty of vents for breathing. If there were a real threat, I'd be dead. Plenty of people in the south don't wear masks at all, which is good, masks are purely evil and against all logic.

I spent 7-8 years living in public housing, aka government housing, the people there didn't have to pay much, in fact it was possible to live there with hardly any job at all, "mostly because there were no jobs" but I digress, people did not care about their places, they were forced to clean up, every so often because of inspections. So yeah, people trashed the place, gangs and drugs everywhere. people living with people, that were not supposed to etc. Now, I live in a different state, have a good job, "manufacturing" and can afford to live without public assistance. I value my food, because I actually am paying for it now. I don't want to ever fall into the trap of Socialism ever again, because most people never get out.

If you own nothing, especially a house, no one will ever be able to retire with real, independent, financial stability. Many people have always bought way to much house on purpose, the idea being to pay it off while they work their asses off for the next 30 years. Finally, when retirement time comes, they sell the high priced house, buy something much less expensive and pocket the difference as a nest egg. When they pass over, they leave what's left to their heirs. Over time, this strategy can slowly pull families up into higher standards of living. However, if you are never allowed to own your own home, they have taken away one of the biggest and easiest ways to increase your family's future standard of living. This also begs the question: how are they going to deal with people who refuse to sell out their land? Eminent domain? Wait them out? Just kill them outright? Very scary stuff...

Won't be taken by "force" those that out right own their house will be taxed out of them. Remember the government owns the land your just renting it. Raise property taxes and sooner or later they will be unable to pay the taxes and the government will take the land, so sorry but you should have paid your taxes. Sure they might have to kill a few home owns when it comes time to evict them. But for the most part they will claim it is the rule of law, nothing to see here citizen move on. You can see this in effect in US city's like Detroit. Sure you can buy a house for 5k but the taxes will destroy you.

I've seen this too. If the screen goes blank, anyone under 35 just looks at you with a blank stare. Then they call the "Manager" who stares at the blank screen too just as lost as the goofball working the register. And nobody knows to give you $.31 change for something that costs $4.69 and you just handed them a $5. If the world's screens all went blank tomorrow these kids would starve to death in a week.

My great grandfather was a stowaway on a ship from Norway to the USA. He didn't know how to speak English but he learned. He got a job on a farm and loved it. He saved up every penny he made and eventually bought a small farm. He kept buying more and more land and farm animals. He ended up becoming a millionaire. Unfortunately his son and only child became an alcoholic and he lost the farm and ended up poor. He had to much handed to him and he never had to work for anything.

When my son was in school we did the traditional school shopping, we took the list from school to the store and bought everything, including art supplies like crayons and glue sticks. I found out the teacher took the art supplies, even the boxes of kleenex from each child and dumped them into a communal bin. Well. I’m an artist. Artists take care of their tools. I’d taught my son to respect art supplies. Also even a crayon conforms to the user’s touch, how they wear it down if that makes sense. I had no say in this, and I’ve never forgotten how it made me feel. And. We did not have a lot of money. Those supplies belonged to my son. Sharing is good but not always.

A few years ago my dream was to move to NYC and get a job making lots of money. But when I moved there, I realized that having to depend on everything and just city life really makes people less of a Man.
