Joushi is actually pretty disgusting because it's the same type of person that tells you they would never sell out but the only reason they haven't is because no one offered...in June he thought "well I'm never getting this gig so might as well call people out and pretend I'm a good person, might net me some brownie points for the future" and as soon as the phone rang he was like "what's that, morals? lmao thanks for the cash"
wanted to add this as well I remember chatting with Kangas and Joushi a while ago, I wanna say 5 years ago. Us and a few guys who've made it to LCS and many other were in the depths of the NA Amateur scene. I'm glad they're getting towards the top of the game but man does it hurt to see them in the EWC. Would've probably been even more heartbroken if Raafaa was in the mix. man Joushi really dropped the ball especially. eugh. what a shame

8:30 reminds me of the reddit piracy forums where people will write entire books on why the reason they're pirating stuff isn't because they're just cheap and want the thing for free, but actually because consumer this, publisher stance that, the devs were mean on twitter, a contractor was slighted, yada yada yada. Its so funny - why is he saying that? Yeah his mental health was effected - by imagining what the number in his bank account would be if he added the Saudi money onto it. Probably kept him up for an hour or so before he buckled. Definitely needed a sit down after that hard decision.
I gave benefit of the doubt to Mike Ross who back in the day "left" the FGC because of the abuse he got from Capcom and feeling like the FGC has become too corporate but now he's attending the EWC as production so clearly doesn't care about gay people and women either and needs that big pay out because he'd rather sit around on Saudi money than actually put work in to get a career on the internet again. His choice but it's a real shame because he always put himself out there as a real one as you'd say.
That is a shame. I used to really like watching his stuff back in the day. Still remember him coming 4th with Honda in 2010. Good times. Sad to see he's taken the Saudi money.

I really disagree with the Joshua take that he's somehow walked back on what he said. He's doing exactly what Dgon and others are doing : He is saying that people shouldn't pretend they're making the "moral" choice by going, and that monetization is terrible in the esports industry. I don't see him making any grand-standing declaration about not going or anything like that, just that the REASONS given are absolute dogshit, and honesty should be a little more prevalent than these stupid reasonings, and I'd tend to agree with him. The mental health part on the other hand is just ridiculous. It might even be true in some convoluted way, but putting it in a tweet is just brain-numbing. Did he ever say that he was going because not going would "silence his voice" ? No. He's criticizing the way that teams are justifying going, not the FACT that they're going. He's in fact pointing out that they're going because the monetization for them (AND FOR HIM) is absolutely DOGSHIT. And it is. And that's the reason why they're going. Not whatever else reason they're giving, like "being silenced if they don't go" or that going itself is moral. He says himself that going is not moral. And in fact, when he mentioned mental health, I'm guessing this is what he's referring to - associated costs, that he can't pay without the extra cash. Hence why it's absolutely stupid to mention it this way. You're the one that needs to re-read his post. Or go and watch Dom's video on the exact same subject. i dont understand why you would want esports teams "celebrate" pride month and also "the most quiet pride month", like.... is being quiet so bad? at least they dont insult lgbtq community or anything. cs2 is global and i dont think the majority celebrate pride month either. if we talking about saudi money etc, its not like all the other investors are like 100% "clean money" either morally.
Tell that to the teams themselves which have been celebrating pride for YEARS. His point is that their 'celebrations' were always a cynical cash grab at best and a disgusting display of hypocrisy at worst. Why should they get away with that?

This year, as they sell out to an anti-LGBT state, they have been conspicuously quiet. Should they not receive criticism and mockery for this? I haven't seen anything about the ewc advertising wise, will many fans even go? Its not like its cheap to go and we all know esports fans have a lot of money...
