FILM DESCRIPTION:
When a mercenary warrior (Matt Damon) is imprisoned within the Great Wall, he discovers the mystery behind one of the greatest wonders of the world. Death squad I can only assume are like the wall’s final defense to prevent a breech. I haven’t seen the movie, but it’s somewhat logical and practical. Unlike Crane Corps were they are literally throwing themselves at the horde.

The death squad is actually a good idea here, unlike the other blue ladies, here it seems they are meant to delay the Tao Tei so they stay by the death blades longer. This making their best defense even more potent

The best defense would have been tons more rotating blades and tons more trebuchets with firebombs. Also just pouring boiling oil or flaming oil down the wall (like in Europe) would have wiped out tons of the Tao Tei. There is no advantage to bunji cord jumping or even lowering oneself down the wall when they have the advantage of HEIGHT. They can just throw tons of spikes balls, boulders, arrows, rocks, flaming oil bombs, etc. from the top of the wall.

thought about the grease. Then realized that just using multiple "rollers" or rolling-pins only separated by the death blades would probably be a better deterrent. If you've ever had a husky and put a metal wire through a PVC pipe at the top of your fence, you'd realize just how difficult it is to climb over that fence. You could probably make it easier with stone bearings or something similar along with multiple rows of those death blades. at that point all you'd need is grease and fire then probably call it a day, and a bbq.

If the Chinese want to build up their own international movie scene similar to Hollywoos they need to attract western audiences and the best way to grab theit attention is to throw in some well known western actors. Let's face it without Matt Damon no one outside of China would have given a shit about this movie. If the whole scheme works Chinese filmmakers and actors could eventually make themselves a name internationally and at that point you wouldn't necessarily need to put white guys in the main role any more to have the movie be successful.

You know what is the best part about this scene? They removed the Crane Corps, and the ladies right along side the other warriors. Commander Lin Mae was actually better than the original commander, kudos to her. The crane corps were definitely beautiful and a creative idea, but not very effective...at all.

This is movie was written and produced by American, shot in China with Chinese cast. It isn't a Chinese movie.

This "Chinese" movie was produced by 4 different productions companies. Only one was from China. Vincent Ward and Edward Zick co-produced The Last Samurai. Edward Zick also directed it. According to your logic, how is The Last Samurai a Japanese movie?
