This was an unprecedented series - a miniseries before there was such a concept. It was produced and aired to coincide with the 50th anniversary WWI. They aired them weekly for 26 weeks starting in January and ending in August - Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the war ( Guns of August ). This series was so successful, that it was used a a model for the World at War series for WW2. They decided to have that one in the mid 70’s - the 25th anniversary - so they could take advantage of more surviving eyewitnesses. The only regrettable drawback is that so many interviewees in that series were wearing polyester.....
Well, the dictionary says something different. The only english word for "Gericht" I found there is court. The german word for judgement is "Urteil". The translations of those words in the dictionary is in perfect agreement with what I learnt at school (English lessons, I am native german speaker). "Gericht" (court) is a process while "Urteil" (judgement) is the result of it.
@@karlokater In legal terms, yes, but I think the translation (and the name of the German offensive) is probably based on "The Last Judgment" being the English version of "Das letzte Gericht".
