Warning about mungyo, they use real cobalt in their pastels. The others use synthetic pigments like phthalocyanines, but mungyo uses the real stuff. Cobalt is a very toxic pigment that can cause problems from even touching it.

Great comparisons…I’ve watched twice. You do such good work!

Thanks. Neo Color II also has the list of lightfastness of each crayon pigment. Since you can get them open stock you can just choose the ones that's rated excellent. I don't know about the others.

Thank you. I have a 12 piece set of the mungyo crayons and i didn’t really know how to use them. So thank you for showing us. Also beautiful art work

Thank you for sharing this comparison of the pastels, your thoughts, observations and their usefulness with other mediums. I love Cardinals and your drawings are beautiful. I use Neocolor ii’s and haven’t tried the other pastels, so I can’t make a choice between the 4. I have not had any problems with Neocolor ii’s, especially creating mud. I love the Neocolor ii’s. Hi, thank you for watching. I'm okay with neocolors used dry as regular crayons, but personally I don't like wetting them. It's all down to personal preference. There's plenty of brands to choose from.

Store woodies in air tight container (Tupperware). Eventually with a small humid cooton ball sitting on plastic. Problem solved.

I have some woodies and some neocolor II but find them both a tad waxy at times. When I use those in my sketchbooks I need to seal them in because they transfer a bit, the woodies a bot more than the neocolor II’s (well, the red and purple woodies did, maybe those are the only ones, can’t tell for sure). I’m thinking of buying the Jaxon aquarel wax crayons

Great comparison! Haha I just realised that you are the youtuber whose videos have been really helpful to me with your reviews on Mungyo watercolor crayons and water soluble oil pastels (I've been watching a bunch of those!). I just bought the watercolor crayons few days ago and I love it! Recently I saw a macaron color set by Kuelox which is also water soluble. I just wonder if you'd be interested in trying those? I know I am! I don't think I have seen a water soluble oil pastels that are pastel shades before. Also, I heard it's a pretty good set to use without water too, very smooth or so they say.

Thank you for watching 💕 At the moment I'm not going to buy new crayons because I have four sets of water soluble crayons to use. I have bought watercolour pencils though, so those will be featured in upcoming videos as well.

Why does the last one you used have the word “oil” in the if they’re a water base medium? I’m confused. Lovely work!
@gabriellaritaart

These crayons are made out of pigment and a modified wax binder that dissolves in water. When used dry, they behave like regular crayons. But unlike regular crayons, they melt in water. There's a lot of water soluble oil based supplies, oil paints, oil pastels etc.

You made beautiful art regardless of the medium. However, I don't understand the purpose of the aquarelle oil pastel. If it is like oil pastel, then using it will take an extra step (you have to activate with water)?
@gabriellaritaart
@gabriellaritaart 9 месяцев назад
Instead of smearing it with your finger you dissolve them with a wet brush, that's more or less the difference. Otherwise quite similar.

@@gabriellaritaart I see. So the water here plays the role of finger/ q tip/tissue in traditional oil pastel?

How do you avoid lifting off when layering with Mungyo Watercolor crayons? I suppose I need to wait for previous layers to dry completely 🤔. Glad to hear that the Stabilo Woody worked well for you. I've been on the fence about whether to buy them because they are priced quite high for something that looks like kid's toys to me.
@gabriellaritaart

Hi, they do lift off so you have to be very careful. 😂 My favorite watercolour crayons are hands down the Stabilo Woodies. They are pricey but they also last a long time.

Agree. I bought them for my grandson thinking they were a children's product. Now I need to check their ingredients to see if they're dangerous for him. 😥 I wish I found this video sooner

@@beatricenowell8207 Hi. I finally caved in and bought a few Woody crayons. Surprisingly, I found them creamy, easy to blend and absolutely worth the bucks. The only downside I can think of is that they are a bit chunky for my adult small hands. If I'm a kit, I would be absolutely delighted if someone gifted me the Woody.

I have both neocolor 2 and the mungyo, can't believe you put mungyo above neocolor, I'll have to play with them more often I guess
@gabriellaritaart
@gabriellaritaart 2 года назад
It's really up to personal preference. I prefer Mungyo and Stabilo Woody over Neocolors, but if you go on other people's RU-vid, almost everyone loves Neocolors. That's why I recommend watching more than one person when researching an art supply.

Yes neocolor is my number one for probably 4 years now, and I have compared them to all the others except "Lyra" , Cretacolor is the closest to neocolor in my humble opinion. I have the mungyo and the prima I even have charvin, I play around with all of them, I'm a watersoluble freak.
@deeman524
@deeman524 2 года назад
Today is my off day and I've been playing around with all my watersoluble items like I promised. And you are right, the Mungyo are much better than I first thought, I had fun blending them with my fingers before adding water, they are also like ordinary pastels, you can use them both ways. I hear there is a new Mungyo out now called "Pearl" in which each color is a slightly different tone than each color in the regular set, can't wait to try them out.

Neocolor 2 really can be used as water color pencils and gouache, depending on how much water is used. If you’re making mud, you’re putting down far too much pigment and not adhering to gouache qualities like you have to be gentle or lift the previous layer
