I left the army in 1969 after 3 years as an Army musician. I went to college to become a band director and I never started a concert without a march. Like it or not to those of you who outgrew a march.!! I would join an army band tomorrow and I'm 76.

I've done US Navy and US Marine things for many years. I love this military marching music. The discipline, the practice, the movements, the precision. A small part of the big picture. Love it.

I was also in our HS marching band of the 60's, and the band music while marching still makes me swell up, Band Music, no matter what country has redeeming points, from the percussion to the brass section, woodwinds, and etc, plus the sight of so many different band uniforms each has an effect on all of us....

I was in a school band throughout my high school and patriotic music such as these were the favorite piece of our band instructor. I remember our school band were marching around the community one a month and the music we're performing were all American marching songs like col bogey, longest day, stars and stripes forever, and many more.. the name I could not recall but whenever I hear the tune I know it. The Philippines was once colonized by the American and that's maybe the reason our band instructor was so excellent in rendering these American marching songs using his trumpet, sometimes the trombone or saxophone. How I wish he was still alive.

Thanks to all the men and women who served in military, and I proud to an American. America is still the greatest nation on earth. May Jesus bless America 🇺🇸 🙏 ❤

Such great songs. It's sad that military style is dead outside of a pocket in East Texas, not even the service academies keep the tradition of real marching bands. With the death of military style bands comes the death of marches except in a concert setting.
