The original strategy guide for this mission had a section that went something like this: "the jump in several ion frigates to attack your mothership, you should thank them for the reinforcements before capturing all of them."

I played the HW series so much back when they came out. Then the remastered versions came out and I did it all over again. I cannot wait for HW 3! I'm hoping Deserts of Kahrak gets a sequel too

Between Dune: Spice Wars and The Homeworld games, I'm in RTS heaven. It's nice to have low APM/slower speed games for those of us who are not rapid click masters.

I absolutly love Homeworld thanks for playing this because I'm about to install it again :) Edited: With the Remastered version you can Jump at the end of the scenario it will collect all remaining salvage and materials.

This is a must know tip for anyone looking to get into this, no more staring at collectors slowly processing the whole map, potentially finding mines n stuff.

Remember that you can use your 1salvage corvettes to capture and steal the enemy's ships... I'm now running with a couple of those Tauranic Ion Frigates having absconded with them in the middle of battle. Soooo satisfying! The support frigates (from memory of playing back in '99) are good for close to the front line support for your fighter wings: I think they dock briefly for repair in the middle of battle.

Your in for a treat Raptor, this game has been one of the best RTS space games for the last 20 plus yrs. Nothing else has come close except maybe Nexus: The Jupitor Incident. Have fun and enjoy the experience. Its great to watch someone relive the same feels i had playing this game back in "99".

I was once able to rescue all the cryopods, it was a pain and involved jumping in with enough salvage corvettes to grab all the frigates at one time and maybe an extra one for the first pod that was being attacked. I love the salvage corvettes, even if they are a little OP.

"There's nothing left for us here. Let's go." Said that verbatim when leaving my grandmother on her death bed, with my now ex. She couldn't just leave, I had to take us out. I feel the tone of that voice, from the moment I ever heard it, to the time I had to use it. It is still hard to think about to this day.

I don't know if HW1 had option of fast forward for gathering resources at the end as HW2. Also have 6 probs to go all directions. 2 Resource Controls and 10 Resource Collectors. 10 Salvage Frigates to capture enemy ships

scrap has to be taken to the mother ship for processing or the shipyard in later missions

Raptor, alt clicking on something will lock the camera to it. Will make zooming in on enemy ships much easier. Also, If you've got the hyperspace button, DRAIN THE LEVEL and build all the ships you can.

sorry but this is homeworld, and it is a game about salvage whenever posible, it is also about using pause to alocate your units to multiple tasks, I imagine this as if one is looking at the head quarters, where the inteligense is taking the comand desitions, you need the pause because its no a single device nor desition

I played this a lot. I can tell you that it is not good to leave any resources behind. You have already made that mistake. Also capture as many enemy ships as possible, 2 salvage for frigates, 3 for destroyers, 5 for carriers.

Sadly Homeworld Cataclysm, a canon expansion of the first game, is effectively abandonware. Something about the original game codeing having been lost during one of the studio’s buyouts, so the entire game would have to be remade from scratch if they wanted to re-release it. So unless you can find an original disk copy and cd key, you’re out of luck. Edit: The Bentusi are indeed Peaceful Traders. But even peaceful people need to be able to Defend themselves.

Dont know how the situation was at the time of your comment, but Homeworld Cataclysm is available on GOG. Alas under a new name: Homeworld Emergence. Rumors are that Blizzard forced them to change their name in the rise of WoW Cataclysm. Runs smoothly on Win10 btw

Hey Raptor! I heard that the remastered edition is very unstable, and I had some issues with it myself. I believe they have patched it though. Did you have any troubles?
