One of the things I found interesting is that Adam Savage very vocally hates duct tape. According to him, the lesson of the duct tape episodes isn't that duct tape is amazing; it is that engineering principles are powerful and amazing, even when you're limited to a single substandard tool.

Thanks for clearing up the t-shirt thing Simon. For a moment I thought we'd get our own free Danny if we bought one, to keep in our basements, writing scripts for us and making us into RU-vid legends like yourself. 😁

My dad sold them a pump in season 1 where they do the quicksand myth. He pulled me out of school when he delivered it to go meet them. They were so nice to 10 year old me, and gave me a signed photograph of them. Huge fan ever since then.

My favorite myth will always be from the spy episode they did, testing a bunch of minor spy myths. One segment had the crew testing ways to beat a motion sensor, and my absolute favorite result from the run of the show is holding up a quilt stopping a motion sensor from seeing you.

I know this makes zero sense because your scripts are obviously printed from a printer, but I always imagined Danny in a dark basement with a single light bulb above him, handcuffed to his chair with chains, and a oldschool type writer in front of him.

I love mythbusters. My dad and I used to watch the show together all the time until his death. It’s one of the things that I was able to keep enjoying after he passed because every episode is a good memory with my dad. He died suddenly of a massive heart attack he was young and healthy. My favourite episode was the titanic episode, and the firework powered rocket. Any tv or movie based myths were actually really good. And the bullet myths! Bone, ice, teeth those were cool.

To this day, I love watching Tested because Adam just has a way with telling stories.

I heard a really good explanation why Rose said that Jack couldn't fit on the door and had to sacrifice himself: The whole story was a lie. Either Rose wanted her story to sound more exiting so she invented it all, she spent the trip reading a trashy romance novel and due to memory problems can't separate facts from fiction any more, or she met a con man and recalled his attempts to seduce and likely rob her in rather better light than it really happened. Either way, the details about Jack are fake, like the town he claimed to be from doesn't exist. Of course, after hearing that theory I came up with my own: The door could have held two easily, but people who think they will drown and panic don't think clearly about such things. So the story of nice guy who sacrificed himself for her is hiding that Rose pushed him into the water...

Road construction and quarries, etc can and still use diesel, ammonium nitrate and blasting caps for various project, such as blasting through mountainous rocky terrain for road construction.

They already did redo Titanic, in the movie release Jack was still alive when Rose cut him free to let him sink to the bottom and save herself but they got complaints about that so when it was released in the home version he was already dead, so she didn't look so bad letting him go, when after she says "I'll never let go" and immediately lets go and starts swimming for the rescue boat.

Writing this post at the beginning of episode. I hope you go over when the Mythbusters covered whether or not bullets can pass through water (hence, 'Busting' the classic movie trope of a fleeing character diving into water to escape being shot). FYI, it was shown that one would be safe in the water, but unlike in the movies, where bullets simply miss (whizzing by), they (the bullets) actually disintegrate due to friction when passing into/through the water.

Oxygen is neither flammable or combustible. However, it can greatly increase the flammability of other substances. That's why oxydizers are so dangerous. They don't catch fire, they just lower ignition temperatures greatly.

The recipe you are after Simon is called ANFO (Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil) which is a mixture of ammonium nitrate (usually sold as a type of agricultural fertilizer) and diesel fuel (in a particular ratio that I wont disclose) but unlike diesel, ammonium nitrate is usually regulated (in most 1st world countries anyway) you cannot just buy it without raising red flags and once its mixed it takes a secondary primer or explosive to initiate it anyway so its not as simple as they make it out to be. It's classed as a low explosive compared to things such as C4 or Comp B (plastic explosives) that are considered high explosives (in relation to speed of shockwave). Farmers have used this recipe for a long time to remove stumps from the ground. The Oklahoma bombing was a truck full of ANFO but again McVeigh had an idea what he was doing and should have raised several red flags.

Dude... MAKE A VIDEO GAME CALLED "FREE DANNY"!!! :D The goal is to free Danny from your basement, like a reverse Donkey Kong classic (the old one with Super Mario). Player is a fan that needs to free Danny (Super Mario) dressed as a solder from the Rpoman empire. :D He starts from the top. You (Donkey Kong) are on the bottom guarding Danny (princess). You send Peters (Am I right Peter?!) to fight the player. When the player collects some amount of points Danny writes the script whit some name you cant read that bugs you out and for some time you stop sending Peters to fight the player. :D

This was a great episode! From the cocaine jokes to the paid promotion of Keeps ( I had hair loss at 25 as well and shave the rest of it off ). And who didn't love Mythbusters? Science and explosions

Well, Simon's statement about BioGraphics at 6:20 was pretty damn prescient. 😂

Do bear in mind that what most divers would use to gently tap a shark in the face to keep it away would basically equate to a small nail bat. Shark skin is tough, and with a stick covered in protruding nails you can both bop them on the nose and also basically just holding them at arms length. Sharks need to actually swim into you to get their teeth in there, so as long as you've got the stick firmly wedged against their stupid face, they can't do jack to you.

There was also the calculations the failed attempts and the revision, and in some cases WHAT it WOULD take to achieve the result if the Method in the myth is implausible

As there are two Jaws in this film I'll specify that in regard to the Bond film, the character Jaws was more of a recurring henchman rather than a villain. Have to say though that the funniest moment of this video is when Simon said Mythbusters rigorously applied the scientific principle.

There are a few ways you can make a surprisingly powerful explosive from easily obtainable compounds or things you already have at home. If you take into consideration containment bombs, shrapnel, or thermobaric devices it's actually appalling what the home terrorist could do. I'd feel a bit irresponsible going into details, though.

The duct tape thing reminds of this mini-series Adam Savage did with some British guy, who's kind of famous or something They were "marooned" on an island and they had to craft things to survive. They could only use what was on the island and parts scavenged from the craft they were on when they crashed on the island. I can't remember if it was a boat or a plane. All I know is they somehow built air powered vehicles, multi-story forts, and it was epic. If I had to pick one thing to be stranded on an island with, I'd pick Adam Savage.

Brain Boy.....there are many sightings of GW sharks along the eastern seaboard including a string of fatalities tied to a Bull Shark that had gone up-river, away from the ocean in New Jersey in the early 20th century.

There was an incident on the East Coast of the US where a shark did kill a few kids, not in the ocean but in a tidal area or small river. The shark was killed by the locals. I am not sure when it happened, but it is believed that it was what inspired Peter Benchley to write Jaws.

Avatar (the blue people, not the airbender} was a great movie! one of the very very few movies that i restarted immediately after it finished. i cant wait to see the second one.

James Cameron is also a demon on set to have to work with. But aside from the Terminator, the movie Aliens (the sequel to the first Alien) was one of the best sci-fi / action / horror movies ever made. 🔥

Me and my friends were allowed to wander around in the Ozarks woods with guns, and we went with our parents to gun shows. At one point my dad bought me an exploding target called tannerite( basically amonium nitrate, and aluminum oxide) and there is no way those should be legal. It was literally a 1 lb of explosive that you shoot at with a high speed rifle round and it explodes. Like really explodes...

Could you do a video on movies that were allegedly "based on a true story", but unnecessarily twisted the truth? Random example: The movie Cinderella Man is about a washed up boxer in the great depression, named James Braddock, getting an unexpected title shot against the dominant champ Max Baer, who had killed 2 previous opponents, and miraculously winning against all odds. That's all true, and as inspiring as it possibly gets. However Hollywood had to take one step further and painted Max as a heartless villain that was proud of killing those 2 opponents. When in reality he was known to be an extremely nice man, that became depressed and even suicidal after those fights. He even retired until Jack Dempsey talked him into coming back. That's an even better story. There was no need to disgrace Max in practically the only piece of modern media that mentions him.

I thought it was just an urban legend that your channel has long intros, but then I was at 6:14 and it was still going on. Myth confirmed.
