The 99-point Liverpool team should have been the best ever, but they won the league so early ( earliest ever in the prem in history ) that they didn't give AF afterwards😂😂😂. The team was playing like they had hangovers after that .😂😂😂 My opinion the liverpool 99 team was honestly the most breathtaking. They were just killers till they won the league

Dude the Chelsea 04/05 won the league with no momentum against Sir Alex. The special one eclipsed both Wenger & Alex with new players who don't know each other in his first season. That's more impressive than a well oiled machine in UTd or City teams.

08 United was raw and electric and was an amazing team but was also entertaining to watch and had a prime Rooney and Ronaldo two of the greatest players ever

08 Man Utd are clear of all others for me. Rio and Vidic best cb partnership ever and could both be in a prem alltime 11 and its not crazy. Scholes dictating play from deep as the best 6 the leagues seen, supplying Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez and Berbatov. That team was insane. And yet got destroyed by Guardiolas Barcelona, which highlights that barca team as the best club side in history.

Man City 2018/19 is City's greatest team. 98 points. Fa cup winners League cup winners. Went out to Spurs in the CL due to VAR. (Raheem Sterling last minute goal)

I tend to think of eras rather than individual seasons. For example, the 99 United team, for me, goes back to 95/96, which was the emergence of the class of 92. Cantona was still there until 97 so you could argue it was a transitional team but players come and go every season. If you look at it in terms of eras, they did the double in 96, retained the league in 97, lost out to Arsenal in 98, came back and won the treble in 99 and went on to win three leagues in a row. For me there are three main factors to consider - 1. Did the team retain the title. 2. Did the team win multiple trophies in a single season. 3. Did the team do something special (treble, invincibles etc). By my own criteria, the current City side are third behind the 99 and 08 United teams. If City win the Champions League they'll be on par with the 08 team and if they win the treble they'll be on par with the 99 team. Tied for 4th are the United 94 team and the Chelsea 05 team. After that, basically take your pick depending on how you rank achievements. Whether it's invincibles, points totals, double winners etc. You could make the argument that Leicester deserve to be in the conversation simply because them winning the league is an achievement by itself.

Liverpools title winning side was the most dominant i PL history. 25 points clear (biggest gap in PL table history) at on point, won the league with 7(!) games to go, in the same league as this Pep City team... 27-1-1 prior to covid, 5-2-2 after. In other words: that LFC side would’ve gotten about 105 points if the covid break didn’t kill their momentum. Same team also won the CL season prior, no investments made inbetween. And a fun fact: from late Feb 2019 to late Feb 2020 Liverpool played 38 PL games, won 36 and drew 2. Won a CL too.

The difference in our 17/18 and 18/19 sides was bald David silva. Absolutely unplayable in 17/18. Disgrace that buvey didn’t mention in him the 3 players

liverpool’s needs to be mentioned, finished on 1 point less than the centurions but was majorly impacted by covid, if covid didn’t happen u could argue they’d go on to pass the centurions since they won 27 of their first 28 games, you’d expect them to carry on and drop points in maybe 2 of their last 10 which would be enough

My answer would differ depending on the criteria for example do we decide which team would win if they all played eachother Or do we take just one season into account OR how the team performed over every game they ever played and take the average. My reason for questioning the criteria is because even as a United fan I believe that the title winning Leicester City team deserves a shout. Yes most the other teams in this conversation would beat them but for a club like Leicester to top the league most of the season and eventually win it with much less of a budget than the others, with no real experience of being in that position and coming straight after a season in which they were in a relegation battle. No real super star players although many would go on to be considered world class thanks mainly to that year. What I would call a proper TEAM all pulling in the same direction and fighting for each other & the badge. All in all a remarkable achievement, just look at Arsenal this year to understand how hard it is to keep that momentum going. Which obviously means the right answer is the 99 treble winners but an honourable mention for Leicester City.

I think what you’re going to see is the accepted answer change over time. Every claimant seems to have their own things than no one else has like a treble, 100 points, undefeated etc In the end I think when we look back it will be the invincible and the 15 goal 04/05 Chelsea side who everyone’s agrees was the best as those the hardest things to replicate for me.

I’m not saying the invincible are no.1, but they are disrespected hugely by these lot. Rory banging on about how that Chelsea team conceded 15 goals as if it’s some insane record (which it is) and yet he brushes over a team that didn’t lose a single fucking game. I know which one is a more impressive record. As for the points, yeah other teams accrued more but tbh points is only a numerical value of someone’s season, without getting too philosophical points aren’t the be all and end all, the idea of going undefeated goes beyond a points total. It’s a phenomenon that transcends the numerical values of 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. Great achievement and deserves more respect.

Quick question if City do the treble, does the Arsenal Invincibles become the greatest team, due to the fact that then 2 teams have done the treble so it’s not a unique thing anymore but only 1 team has gone a whole season unbeaten. Don’t get me wrong winning trebles are amazing accomplishment but I just feel another team is on course to do it’s the treble won’t be as looked at the same as it was when it was just United 99

Any answer that’s not either of the Liverpool and City teams of the last 5 years is wrong. Centurions probably the best but 19/20 Liverpool are without doubt the most dominant team ever. 26 wins 1 draw from 27 games in the hardest league in the world doesn’t even sound real.
