room. There are also record jackets on display. Clear acrylic boxes are lined up on the shelves. Are these
drums?
This is a 1/35th scale miniature drum made of copper and brass plates. There is a band called "Kiss",
and this is a completely faithful replica of the drums they used in their first concert in Japan. Their first
visit to Japan was in 1977. This is a reproduction of Peter Criss' drum set at the Budokan concert at that
time.
He was a high school student at the time. He was glued to their coolness in the concert footage that was
broadcast on TV. And he faithfully reproduced the drum set of the drummer he admired in 1/35 size.
However, what kind of material does he rely on to create so much detail?
He started building drum sets about five years ago, and now has 26 sets. It's not just about creating them
neatly. Each drummer has a different place to hit, so they get dirty in different ways. He entrusts his
boyhood longing to the miniature drum.
There is no one else making them, so he is completely self-taught. However, the level of finesse is quite
impressive. The quaintness comes from being on the edge of what can be reproduced by hand, he says.
