And Sonny Jurgenson and Fran Tarkington. Actually, Russ should be the dude, IMO. Love Reed, but nobody is drafting Reed over Russ, and not just because of position. Russ is just a d*mned hood football player, period. He has taken some criticism lately, but watch what happens going forward.

Honorable mention for 5’8”, a player with the same last name and first initial: Bob Sanders. His career was drastically shortened by injuries, but when he was on the field, he singlehandedly turned the Colts’ defense from mediocre to dominant. Never was he more dominant than in 2007, when he won Defensive Player of the Year… and he remains the last player in the big four American sports to go by Bob. (Aspiring athletes: if your name is Robert, Rob, Robby, or Bobby, please consider going by Bob instead, for Bob’s sake. Despite what a certain sponge may tell you, Bob IS a serious name.)

No need to apologize for all the running backs to start the list. That's one of the few positions in the NFL where lack of length is not a disadvantage. It would be hard to excel as a 5'6" offensive lineman.

I'm not sure why they think he's a big deal when there are other players who don't get that kind of attention. I mean, we've got Caleb Jones, Alejandro Villanueva, Jonathan Ogden, Ed Jones, Morris Stroud, Dan Skipper, Richard Sligh - all taller than him! It's like they're giving the spotlight to the shortest giraffe in the herd!

My father and Mack Herron were best of friends in the old days when he moved from Mississippi as a kid to Chicago (Lincoln Park) in the early 1970's. Mr Herron was the nicest guy in the entire world to us kids then he moved to Canada to play football over there for a few years. We became instant Pats fans when Mini Mac went to play in New England with Sam The Bam Cunningham and it's nice to see you mention him , damn he was an incredible football player,to this day my dad is long gone but we love Mac Herron and the guy was built like a fire hydrate a very nice man. We love both Sam and Mini and so glad they are putting up big yards in Heaven . I met Sam also and he was a super nice guy also .. Really nice to us kids

So you think the Bears never had any notable QBs? Ever heard of Sid Luckman or George Blanda? They weren’t scrubs. Others (although not in their primes): Doug Flutie, Dave Kreig, Chris Chandler, Vince Evans, Bobby Douglass, Jay Cutler, Bob Avelini. Those last seven weren’t stars, but more so because of coaching and weapons, or lack thereof. Cutler had sick talent, but his attitude and work ethic were poor.
