Jurins Kengamu vs Russel Orhii vs. Enahoro Asein. Watch the insane upset and crazy tight battle that was the 83kg class at IPF Worlds 2024. / jkeng88 / russwole / thehumancrane / kingofthelifts / pottsthinks
probably not the right place to discuss this but it's crazy that some dudes in the 74kg class outbenched all of them by a large margin. All of them got crazy deadlift tho. Can't believe jurins went for 350kg with a huge aura.
bench is highly specialized, there is a 69 kg guy benching 400 with no arch and no extreme wide grip, being big you can power thru squats and deadlifts , but arms are the weakest part of powerlifting
Russ third squat looked legit af. But that’s powerlifting for you. Props to Jurins, i don’t like sumo but he actually has a relative rom j like many. Good on him
The fact that Russ came out and hugged Jurins after he beat him is such great sportsmanship. Really top class attitude and respect for his competitors and the sport as a whole. Russ knew that Jurins deserved the win after that deadlift.
Jurins is an absolute legend. This event was spectacular for powerlifting history. WLM, as usual, perfectly executed the media coverage. The build up, the unsuspecting advances, the absolute hype, and the roller coaster of emotion of watching this event live and knowing the story is perfectly captured here. Well done folks
Based on Jurins post comp interview he thought of pulling 360ish for the win but ended up pulling 350 conservatively. So regardless if the jury counted russ’ 3rd squat still a huge win for jurin.
@@dalumfitnessphnot the case. If Russ last squat counted, that changes every lift after. Russ would have had nearly a 20KG lead. Every bench attempt and deadlift after would have had added pressure. Yes the last lift moved, but keep in mind what an extra 10KG would have felt like when pulling for the win. Even Jurins said it “I had to pull that in order to beat Russ” If he had to pull more under the moment, anything could have happened. Did you forget what happened at last year world against Delaney? He missed his final lift.
@@jason24cf we cant do assumptions here dude. Yeah. What ifs. But if you see how the 3rd pull jurins was, its pocket attempts. Also if the squat were counted, just 9kg lead and Jurins can pull up to 365. :)
Jurins crying at the end got me the passion he has i aspire to be on the main stage so much ive been powerlifting since i started training which is about 9-10 months ago with a 410 total (gym lifts im still training to comp standard) at 71kg
@@WhiteLightsMedia312.5 on squat, 190 on bench and 355 or 360 on deadlift are my guesses. Hard to tell though and of course I’m sure if he pushed harder on one of the lifts it would come at the detriment of another.
Props to Jurins! Amazing lifts and raw emotion. I loved rewatching this, feels even more epic with the way wlm produced it. Man, Russel looks incredibly disappointed, dont think I've seen him like that. I don't follow him closely but I always thought he was a bit arrogant and didn't care. You also love to see him congratulate Jurins after that massive lift. Really changed how I view him.
Orhii’s third squat looked plenty deep to me. I am shocked that the jury overturned it, evidently of their own accord. If anybody has video of that squat from different angles, please share. I would like to be persuaded that Russ didn’t get a raw deal.
Man as much as I like Russ and I do think that last squat should've flown, Jurins was going to break his limiter on that last pull no matter what. That was already a 15kg comp PR for him, I don't think another 7.5 would've mattered. Hats off to Jurins, the strongest garage dad that existed
I wish austin perkins would have went all out because he could have beaten the 83. I think it was cool to see russel give props though. I know thats gotta be hard to do when you are that competitive.
Honestly, If I could guess why he doesn’t he has done conventional deadlift for most likely sense he played football so about 10 plus years. Also for his 8 years of competition he has done. It would be pretty cool to see him switch but I mean he has gotta very comfortable with it and has worked really hard on technique, it would be very interesting to see what he could do if he did do that Change
