Midway through the 2014 College Football season, the California Golden Bears traveled to Pullman to take on the Washington State Cougars. In what would be an explosive game from the start, WSU QB Connor Halliday threw for a NCAA record 734 passing yards. Halliday went 49-70 for 734 yards and six touchdowns in a heartbreaking loss after leading a potential game winning drive that ended on a missed field goal. California won the game 60-59.

Awful snap but actually a great job by the holder to recover. The ball was in perfect position for that kicker, pause it if you need to see it better. It was entirely the kickers fault. I've never seen a kick that short missed and not to mention it was outside the field goal post the entire time.

Just watched the highlights. It was Washington State vs UCLA in 2019. Gordon threw for 9 TDs and they still lost to UCLA. The same coach for State as well. I guess State never learned they would need a defense no matter how many yards and TDs their QB throws for.

This is my issue with the no huddle thats rampant in college now. That last play was a score but because your players knew if he didn't get in the next play was to run the hurry up and run zone right you couldn't get enough time for the coordinator to watch the reply and tell the coach to call a review and now you missed an opportunity to review and win that game all because you wanted to go faster and not let them off the field.

College ball on any stage , any game , greatest QB performance was Lamar Jackson when he had 8 tds IN ONE FRIGGIN HALF. . miss me with anyone else......then the next game he had 610 yards (199 rushing) 5 tds in 3 quarters. Miss me with this bs......great performance, not the greatest

1: He absolutely broke the plane there at the end and it should have been a TD. 2: You had 3rd down and 19 seconds left on the clock, run another damn play and go for the score. Even if you run the ball and don't get it, you should be able to get lined up for a FG in that amount of time

Also it was 3rd in goal with 19 seconds. He should’ve ran a pass play and if that didn’t work try a field goal on 4th. Just bad coaching on that last sequence of the game

@@reggiesmith4132I mean all you need at that point is a field goal to win it. No use running another play that could potentially turn it over. It’s extra point distance, something college kickers make like 98% of the time at that range. This isn’t Seattle throwing a pick at the goal line. If anything, this was the best decision to make, his kicker just absolutely whiffed.

@@reggiesmith4132 A pass play is the dumbest thing you could possibly do in this situation. The whole idea of the air raid offense is to spread out the field and target gaps in coverage. This close to the goalline, there is nowhere to spread out the Cal defense and WSU is at a much greater risk of turning the ball over. Going for a point-blank FG is by far the best call here.

Being in the red zone and deciding to run for 3 plays, go for a kick on 3rd while on the goal line, while your QB has been slaying it all game has to be the worst call since a certain Seahawks Super Bowl years ago when they decided to pass at the 1 when Lynch was on a hot streak.

Same team, same coach, lost to UCLA in 2019 after State's QB threw for 9 TDs. They never learned they would need defense to stop the other team from scoring more than their record setting QBs.

Joe Burrow vs. Oklahoma 2019 Peach Bowl Playoffs First Half Stats : 21/27...403 yards...7 TDs LSU almost completely shut down the offense in the second half, or Burrow would have thrown for 700+ yards and 10+ TDs. Against the #4 team in the country.
