The chemistry between Ed and David is so damn good! So genuine and natural that you'd swear they were father and son in real life. That whole cast was the best! And this is definitely a top 5 MWC episode!
Ed O'Neil actually tried out for the Steelers in 1969 (Chuck Noll's first year as coach). He was cut after two weeks, but how many players are even good enough to be given an opportunity to try out for a professional football team?
I don’t know about Bud but I’d be honored to have Al Bundy himself tell me of his impressive four touchdowns in a single game in person. Not everyday that you meet a great legend in person.
And 50 years later there has never been a better Polk High Football player. Destined for College destined for the pro's - then he met Peggy Wanker and that was that.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.
@@yoshpeters3079 I point this out every time someone posts that stupid thing........Also, most people post Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon even though his first name is never mentioned
My favorite was the 'No Ma'am' episode where after beating up Jerry Springer, a lightly masked Al says: "I would reveal my true identity, but for political reasons, I can not. But do not take me lightly. I once scored 4 touchdowns in a single game for Polk High."
Hi Martin. The whole episode is on RU-vid.. Just type in "Married With Children No Ma'am." There's a frame around the picture, but you can still watch it.
Ha ha. Yea! I think in S10, we could see the show was wearing thin. But one powerhouse S10 episode was "The Church of 'No Maam.' If I were making a BEST OF DVD (with one episode from each season), the S10 episode would be "Church of 'No Maam.'" :)
@eternalhalloween1 the BEST OF DVD would have to include the Bundy's going to the movies, Sam Kinison Christmas episodes, The grocery store two parter,The Godfather one, When the Bundys go out for dinner and try to get out of the check, the Car Wash one, Polk High Reunion where Peg tries to win reunion queen and Al Vs. Jack, How Green was My Apple and Business Sucks parts 1 and 2!
Before each Super Bowl begins this clip should be played first as a reminder to no matter who wins the Super Bowl it will never match Al Bundys touchdown moment.9-23-19
Two problems with Al's story at 0:58 : 1) The greatest sport moment in all of history was when Al Bundy scored 4 touchdowns in one game, yet Al says the game was "scoreless" and in the "final seconds". 2) If the ball is on the 6th yard line and it came down to the final seconds, wouldn't the coach elect to kick a field goal instead of going for a touchdown?
I hope maybe this helps answer the second question........high school kickers, especially in the 60s were usually offensive lineman and they didn't have long snappers. Field goals weren't exactly automatic
Also the hash marks in high school football are even further apart than college.....and in 1966 the goal posts were at the goal line so a 13yd fg on a hashmark is also a challenge. Also Al was a stud rb.....he had already scored 19tds that season....Give it to your horse and let him either win it for you or take the tie
Any coach with at least a room temperature IQ would put more trust in the greatest high school athlete in history from inside the 10 than some high school kicker. The obvious choice is to hand the ball to Bundy.
Al bundy is the FUKING MAN,,, he is a big guy so football perfect for him.... But he is still an awesome guy one of my favorite shows growing up he will always be the best actor ever...
Al Bundy aka Ed O’Neill. God bless this man for all the laughs he has given us. I know his a lot older now, please Lord bless him with many more years.
if u watched the show . he dosent always talk about the same polk high game. he was always there best player. so he has many of flashback high light moments to mention the one he mentions most is the 4 thouchdowns in 1 game but this is that game, he talking about
In an alternate timeline, Polk High did not give the ball to Al Bundy. Instead they called a pass, a pass which Andrew Johnson High intercepted at the goal line.
This show is still the best i ever watched. Al Bundy: They said: Give the bal to Bundy. I knew i was getting it. I GOT the ball I went trough that line, like grandma trough a herd of cattle.
I propose a constitutional amendment. It shall state that Al Bundy shall be President for Life. Grief as Vice President. Congress shall only be run by No MaaM members only. Psycho Dad shall be played as the opening day for a Congress Session and at any public or private Presidental Appearances. I personally believe if we had this Admendment in place our country would be much safer.
They say, all comedy has its roots in trajedy. Isn't it true here? Al's only accomplishment, worthy of note in his meaningless life, is long forgotten by all who were there, except him. Actually, very sad.
Ok -- but here he says it was a scoreless game until he scored that one touchdown to win the game. But he also tells of scoring "4 touchdowns in one game" to win the championship.
Great episode. But this was not his 4 touchdown game I’m assuming. He says “ finally it came down to the final seconds, scoreless game”. 1:00 Had to be another game that same year.
They should have made AL a underpaid security guard over shoe sales. Never made it to pro football, never made it to be a cop. Thus all great things come to end........
Jim Belushi had a scene with him once in one of the k-9 movies. Have to see that again, because, that seems like one odd combination if you ask me (seems like the casting people must have had the same idea). Can't really remember how that turned out.
I have the al bundy funko I got it for Christmas last year I love it . I hope that they come out with two figures one with him not wearing his helmet from polk high & the other would be a chase with him having it on & the football tucked under his arm in a running motion . Now tell me that wouldn’t be a bad ass figure to have ?
