Here's how I look at anyone on Defense the way players who have left have spoken and how I see our D players saying THEY LOVE HAFLEY tells me how bad this defensive scheme was and we can't judge any of these dudes off of what we saw folks.Especially with dudes like Quay ,Devontae Wyatt etc

Only reason Gary wasn't out there more last year was the team was protecting him post injury. They know what they have in him and they have made a large investment in him. They also have good depth on the end so they could play it safe with him last year. Don't worry he is going to get a lot more reps this year if the team feels he is healthy enough for it.

Gary is the guy every coach falls in love with, who ends up breaking their heart. All the talent, all the physical tools, all the potential yet for some reason it never quite clicks. Maybe year 2 off the ACL will help him turn the page. Who knows!?!? But at some point they show you who they are, and assuming they're something different is folly.

Good call on Gary. I think Watson goes super star this year because he is a #1 WR in waiting and he will not be defended like one due to our depth.

The Green Bay Packers need Rashan Gary to be an elite player every week. It’s possible he’ll be even stronger and for longer after his post-ACL injury. I’m hoping for a great new approach to our defense with Jeff Hafley. Scheme it up and get Rashan Gary more opportunities to put up even better numbers. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛

Hands, high points, fast timing. This game is being played much faster than with Rodgers! Rodgers was the putz with speed receivers. And his fix was waiting on his favorite to uncover if at all. Defenses learned to ride out his favorite receiver.

I've never been more excited about an offense as this year. If Watson can just stay healthy and we can protect Love, top 3 offense no doubt. The most important thing is the defense. How many years and draft picks later have we said that.

if you attribute some of the late season drop-off to being out of gas, though, the 'increase the volume of your best guys' argument is undercut - maybe he can't maintain those pressure rates at higher snap volumes. a lot may depend on how much of that fatigue was injury related

Peter you are right but you can over use Rashan Grey. Statistically he is going to get hurt at a high rate if he plays more snaps. Conversely if you let him get cold he can suffer injuries finding a balance is the key. Much like they did with Aaron Jones.

Barry apparently is respected as a LB position coach, not as a DC as prior history showed and reared it's ugly head with GB. Coach Matt blew that hire. Glad coach saw the light- finally!

Agreed. He is no superstar. He hasn't developed any moves and doesn't have a motor like the other top guys. He has one ish move...a bull rush. Van Ness will be a better overall player, I think, by the end of this year.

Idk about that Gary take. 9 total sacks. 6 of them in two games. He’s a top 10 paid edge rusher and finished with 1.5 sacks more than Kenny Clark. He runs by QB on far too many occasions. Wouldn’t be surprised if LVN ends up with more sacks. Regardless of defensive scheme, getting paid that much should produce minimum 12 sacks. Chargers and Jags were among leagues worst pass defenses yet Mack and Allen among league leaders in sacks. I’d consider it a breakout year for Gary if he averages a sack a game like the cream of the crop edge rushers.

Clay Matthews had 43 sacks, and 67 tackles for loss, in his first 5 seasons (69 games)... while Rashan Gary has had 31.5 sacks, and 30 tackles for loss, in his first 5 seasons (73 games). Rashan Gary needs to show up in 2024. Clay Matthews was also All Pro 3 of those 5 seasons. Gary has never been All Pro.

⁠@@SokemRokemRobothow do you compare a a mike linebacker, playing along side AJ hawk, and who can find himself unblocked either during a blitz or if the defense disguises well to an edge rusher who has duties like setting the edge and certainly is never left unaccounted for? You can’t compare the two.

Gary had a half sack the last eight games. We will soon find out if all the Barry-blaming is accurate, or an excuse for mediocre players. Gary hasn’t come close to sniffing All Pro honors, so let’s stop the Bosa comps while ignoring he didn’t have a solo sack after Thanksgiving. Our D has been bad for a long time, some of that is on the players. Woulda been nice to have Gary terrorizing Purdy. But he didn’t. One timely sack and we’d have been in the NCGCG.
