I like that Hickman is giving us a Spider-Man that isn't defined by tragedy

Hickman is really cooking. And Harry telling Gwen everything about being the goblin is mad dangerous

I know Harry is a hero but he just seems real… off. Even his “great power” speech felt threatening

I wonder if having Harry drop the Great Power speech is not setting him up for a villain arc but instead giving him the mark of death. Peter falls short in saving him for some reason (busy with family most likely) and Gwen goes Goblin on him.

I have a feeling that Gwen is gonna be Harry's Norman in terms of power hungry and cold

Dopespill, there's apparently a one shot written by Johnathan Hickman coming out where Doom takes on Galactus who has lost his mind. It would be absolutely awesome if you covered that, because I genuinely think you are the best narrator for comics on RU-vid. 👊

The great things about this comic are Peter and MJ spending dinner with Harry and Gwen, J. Jonah and Uncle Ben staring their news business online while babysitting May and Richard, Harry telling Peter that he must tell MJ about his Spider-Man identity in order to protect them and to make sure that with great power must come great responsibility, and Peter and MJ spending the last few pages taking a stroll in Manhattan. Overall, this comic is great!

I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm scared for Richard because we all know that after the great power speech, someone close to Peter always bites it soon after.

This artist makes Peter look like Commander Riker from Star Trek. Once you see it you can't unsee it

The story is building up quite slowly, as it should be. There's a naive and untrained Spider-Man around, which is not just trying to take down kingpin or some super villain, but is going to clash with none other than the people who rule the whole world under the Maker. Peter alone, even at his best and with all the 616 experience, might not be enough, not to mention this newborn version of Spider-Man who got kicked by the Shocker. Dude is going in a very dangerous direction, right now the story is showing the world and what kind of relationship are there, but I wouldn't be surprised to see many fast changes once the story starts for good.

This is actually creeping up to something. I agree its like slooowly building up. I wanna see where it leads. Could get crazy or it could stay rather tempered. We'll see

I do love this because it feels like a natural progression for everyone if everything just happened slower. Peter probably would have still ended up with Mary Jane and I can see her becoming a business woman. Gwen I think is honesty a better fit for Harry dynamic wise as she can ground him but he can increase her stubborn and greed side. I thought Gwen was so interesting here and seems both power hungry but desires to be more as a person. Harry saying the Great Power, Great Responsibility line is so interesting because he does represent that CURRENTLY but I also think he’s going to represent the total opposite by the end, he’s the one who’s going to test Peter to see if that line truly still means anything. I love this arc so far, this was the best issue since issue 1

Spiderman is going to accidentally kill Gwen Stacy in the same way again and turn Goblin against him and probably kill him too. It's gonna be the same thing all over again I bet.

the way gwen was acting she gave me norman vibes a bit maybe harry dies she ends up becoming the next goblin instead imo harry dies trying to be a hero it sets off gwen and she ends up being the next green goblin (basicly harry death would be the thing to give peter the motivation to become a better Spiderman instead of gwen being the one to do it)

I dunno man I think Harry might die the way the Peter did with Miles. Gwen might then be The new GG as his enemy as a result.

Listening to the grumpy old white guys over at thinking critical, he was bent out of shape how this issue went but this is a pretty good issue now that I’ve seen your visual review of it. Is actually very needed and it’s OK not to see costumes and fighting in it. I just hope against Hope that Marvel will allow Jonathan Hickman to take as long as he needs. He can take a decade to really flesh this story all out. Let’s return to the early days with Spider-Man where the news rags were so cheap that the story can take its soap opera style of time and let everything evolve.

I can't help but think either we're getting set up to see Uncle Ben die, because I'm really loving him right now, or we're going to see Jonah die & Uncle Ben is going to have some resentment towards Spider-Man because he's going to think it's his fault. I feel like the kids will be safe, but whatever happens here, is going to hurt a lot.

I would love if this is the only Universe where the Green goblin is not Spider-Man's enemy through the entire run.

My first though... the silverware and kitchen knifes were not the sharpest things in the restaurant that night.. Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn are sooo witty.. They know how to drive home a point and set up the 'I told you so.' I feel like on the last point, Harry told Peter something important, and Peter is not paying attention....

I don’t know what will happen. But most of my money is on Harry dying both because of the speech, and because of his "I’m just a guy in a suit" coment. And when he goes, Gwen becomes either the Green Goblin, or maybe Venom? It wouldn’t be the first, second or third Gwen with a Symbiote. In turn with Gwen knowing everything, she could be a major danger to Peter’s loved ones. Be it physical or financial. Which could prove Peter’s need for secrecy

Gwen is gonna get killed off by some villian, probably Dr. Octopus who has a rival business and it turns Harry into a crusader/Magneto character and Peter will have to stop him. Harry is far too ridged not to shatter when a tragedy happens while Peter still has his kids if something happens to MJ. However this MJ unlike 616 has good maternal instincts, unlike her ditzy damsel counterpart. Ben Parker however could be a potential stressor for Peter later on.

You do know that this is Ultimate Spider-Man 2.0, right? This ain't the OG story where Peter and Gwen were soulmates so there shouldn't be any issues between Peter and Harry because of that

That the heroes come to the class conscious conclusion that no one should have any power over anyone and that the people should be making the decisions in a horizontal, collective democratic way, instead of the exhaustive, problematic and authoritarian "change is bad, only the rIgHT pEOpLe should be in charge, stick to the status quo and be grateful to be in chains" direction that a lot of superhero stories usually take as well as the MCU. If it does go the anarchist direction, it'll be revolutionary. In both senses.
