TO be Fair, in most of the arthurian stories, even those focused on Arthur, hes not the most compelling character. It always tends to be his knights, or merlin or morgan la fay to name a few. So more movies like this based off these other stories would be really interesting. Like maybe a lancelot movie that shows his downturn to an antaganist, or explore the story of Galahad, the knight that actually nearly took over Arthurs kingdom, before he took on look at lancelot bro'd out and knelt to Arthur to be "Friends" with lancelot

@Meownifest The israelites of the time of Jesus Christ had a fairer skin than that of today's arab, and actual semites (not khazar/ashkenaz). The trade of subsaharans as slaves began some time in rhe 6th to 7th century, and so did the gene exchange that made arabs and other semites and south europeans a little darker. So I lean towards thinking Jesus Christ has fair skin but semitic features.

I'm iffy about the Amazon series. Apparently it's going to be about the adventures of young Aragorn and that could go any which-way. I was hoping for a Silmarillion adaptation (that'd be the greatest thing ever if done well). But it's still early days, fingers crossed!

I haven't been paying much attention as I don't want to have my hopes dashed but I've been going through Dork Lords LOTR playlist and one of his videos I watched a few days ago was about how the series was adapting Aragorn's backstory. However that playlist plays from oldest to newest now that I think about it so you're right that video may have been quite old!!! I'd love it if they adapt Silmarillion even just the second age as it's truly an amazing book (one of the best) but at the same time I feel a lot of trepidation because I'm very pedantic about adaptations. Like what if they're too scared to show us how crazy elves can really be so just miss out all the kinslaying and massacres and all the insanity the elves cause over their pretty shiny things and their inability to let go of rage and pain and grudges? To me that's part of what makes elves way more awesome and to be honest I thought the way they portrayed Thranduil in the Hobbit trilogy as kind of crazy and unreasonable was much more how a lot of the Silmarillion elves are, haha, he was adapted brilliantly to represent the more unstable side of elfdom. Sad they made his gems belong to his wife though when they could have adapted the Nauglamir into the story instead! But yeah I'm worried they'd cut all that stuff and make all the elves noble and awesome like Glorfindel. Glorfindel is wonderful, but that capacity for darkness brings so much more character to elves. Also I'd have loved to have seen Morthgoth's mutilation of the elves before the first age, and Unguliant sucking the light from the world.. but yeah whatever they do if it's good I'll be happy. If it's terrible I'll just pretend I never knew they were making it so it doesn't have to exist in my world, haha. Cheers for the info!

Same. I felt that way about KvG, but HBO max scratched that itch for me.

If you haven't seen it yet, I wanted to warn you that this film isn't a retelling as much as it is a part of the centuries long conversation over arthurian legend. It takes major detours but is still absolutely amazing and even more so if you take the time to learn more about Gawain's character evolution over the centuries.

My first introduction to the Green Knight was that animated film “Franklin and the Green Knight” back in 2000 when I was a kid. LOL

this is not part of the legends of Arthur, it is a fake hijacked story that isn't about that. It's just using the names in order to make a different movie and sell it to people who don't know that yet.

It's a creative adaptation of the story's soul, rather than a scene-for-scene retelling of the poem, and personally, I think it's beautiful!

Imagine the 3rd act is the Green Knight retooling an old Harley Davidson bike and then having a rematch with a giant that ends with the Green Knight driving the bike off a ramp in to the giant, and they using the Falcons wings to fly with safety setting up a link with the MCU.... That would really undo the work of this trailer.

100% As long as the CG isn't too corny, I think it'll be a certi banger. Wasn't feeling the voice match on the fox, and the shot with green knights decapitated head talking has potential to look silly. Other than that the rest of the VFX look amazing! You're right with the casting too. What a line up! Looking forward to seeing more of Billy Keoghan
