The line when John says " you tell the Lord it was a kindness you did for me" makes me cry.

@@Tge97That's exactly a point I've thought about many times! The guards were like the Roman soldiers, who, despite knowing in their hearts who he was, took him to his death. John Coffey was like Jesus Christ with the performing of miracles, healing, and suffering for the state of humanity. Before I was a Christian, I felt that the guards did the right thing. Now, I realize that what they did was very, very wrong.

I'm 20 years into the book and the film. It took a long time before I could think about the story objectively. First, the JC allegory is very deliberate. Mr King loves him some Christian fables. Second, John Coffey is always obeyed. It's easy to miss because he's so soft spoken. If John ( or the power that works through him ) decides to act, he is not interfered with. The guards often hang back when they start to move forward. They move back when John is transferring the evil effluent to Percy, then when Percy ( in very obviously in distress ) walks away from them down the corridor they stay where they are until AFTER Percy shoots Bill. Those are just two examples. It actually happens several times. In keeping with the Christ allegory, if John had wished for a different outcome he could have made it happen. Lastly, is the question: How old is John? He has scars on his back that suggest he was beaten as a child. But when was he a child? Does he know how things are all over the world because he's been there? Some of these questions are answered in the book but none of the big ones. I definitely recommend reading it.

1. Most people CRY😭😭😭😭 2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie". 3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. (most likely a racial thing. It was 1935 South.) 4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row. 5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (MCD)😇 and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.😭😭 6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist, Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse: The Langoliers. Patricia Clarkson played Margarat White in King's remake of Carrie". Needless to say, it was a much different part. 7. Goof: Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream. I know it' just for the movie because of the length of the execution scene. 8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill. 9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy.👌EVERYONE hates him. 10. John also rescues the other patients at Briar Ridge. 11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clark Duncan (RIP). They used planks, a small bed and smaller chair along with trick photography/angles to make John look taller. 12 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution, they used a real mouse, and it pooped on Paul's shoulder, and he brushed it off. 13. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for. 14 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced. the GREATEST MOVIE EVER. (GOAT) 15. 4 words for you: Stephen King. You're WELCOME!

So, the book lord of the flies is mainly about how privileged little boys behave without adult supervision. And while it does say a lot of things about entitled children, and society in general, it is not about the literal devil. Though you could argue there's a lot of chaos in it. Lord of the flies is one of the names for the devil, and flies are often associated with death and the devil, depending on your culture/background.

Mild UTI's are a burning, stinging pain and the feeling of needing to pee constantly but your bladder is empty. often they go away on their own. The really bad UTI's include fever, body pain, chills, basically like any other sort of infection. Medication is needed to knock it out. The infection can travel from your bladder up into your kidneys and that's very, very bad.

_The Green Mile_ (the movie) started off as a novel with the same title, by Stephen King (interestingly, released in book stores in installments, a marketing effort to build interest). As a film adaptation of the book, a lot of things necessarily had to be left out. Plus, the book is 432 pages, and King is a prolific author with a tight writing style, so a _lot_ of a very cohesive and fully-explained novel is not in the movie. For example, Del's a very sympathetic character in the movie, but in the book there's more to him. His crimes included raping and murdering an underage girl, then setting a fire to cover up his crimes, a fire which spread to the adjoining building and killed six other people, including two children. So yes, funny Cajun accent and personality, target of Percy's bullying, able to make a pet of Mr Jingles, placated by the Mouseville fiction, wished he'd met these good men before all this, horrifically killed by Percy intentionally leaving the sponge dry -- all that's true. But still, not a very nice man. Some good and bad, like everyone. But enough of the bad, more than enough, much more, to have rightly landed him on death row.

Hes a orison trustee, a prisoner with good behavior whos been given a specific job in the prison. I believe he's a janitor but trustees do a ton of stuff. Prison librarians are often trustees. Cooks, ect.

The description I the story of the UTI is brutal and it also explains that a doctor couldn’t give you much for it back then because the antibiotic for it wasn’t available yet. His option was to wait it out or take sulfa tablets and puke for a week. He thought it cleared up on its own but then it returned stronger. The text describing the pain, burning, fever, and helplessness is very vivid. One of the top reactions to Percy stomping on Mr. Jingles I’ve seen. I’m right there with you.

Frank Darabont put three of Stephen King's stories on film, and all three are cinematic masterpieces. You've seen The Green Mile, now that leaves The Shawshank Redemption and The Mist. Darabont actually modified the ending of The Mist, and it's so incredible that King himself said it was far better than any ending that he could have written. Both films are your channel's time.

Yeah, I love SK wholeheartedly, but sometimes he gets to an ending and just goes, “Meh. Who needs it?” Which, to be fair, is a stylistic choice. But the film ending of The Mist is objectively more affecting than the story. (I come down on the side of also thinking it’s a terrific ending, but there are those who disagree! I’ll save that convo for if they watch it)

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this reaction. This movie is at the top of 1 of my all-time favorite films, so watching people react to it for the 1st time always makes me happy and smile big. So, so, so, many fantastic reactions on RU-vid to this BUT . . . . . BUUUT for me this is hands down the absolute winner. CAM! What have you done!?! I never thought I'd see myself laughing as hard and long as I did while watching someone react to this. The first pause came at 12:47. That "HEY" felt and looked like you were in the room with them and were ready to commit murder. That's when I knew this was gonna take me more than an hour & 20 to watch. Kudos to you Zay for being so chill and not giving anything away. All that's left is for you 2 to watch Top Hat. It's the black & white movie John was watching (also at the top of my favorites/must watch). Keep up the amazing work you're both doing. It's always a treat watching your reactions ~ 💕

If you're talking about Doug Hutchison (Percy), he truly is a real life creep. Married a 16 year old porn star type at the age of 51 in 2011. Oh, they're not together anymore, and his career is in the shithole. Go figure, huh??

Seeing you hate for Percy throughout the movie, you probably think the actor did a really good job portraying the character, right? Wrong 😅 The man is a real piece of sheet in real life. Doug Hutchison (aka Percy) married a 16 years old girl when he was 51 years old. If you want to see how much of a predator he is, see their interviews together and see how he looks at her and touches her. It'll make your stomach turn

They didn’t pretend to have people there to see Mr Jingles’ tricks to pass the time. They did it to get Del out so they could do the rehearsal for his execution. And of course Mouseville real. They’re just very good people and wanted to ease Del’s mind about his mouse being cared for after he’s executed

Fun Fact: When I was younger, between 16 & 20; Michael Clarke Duncan (John Coffey) used to be the guy from the Gas Company to come check the gas meters at the Apartment Complex I lived in. He was always SO CHARMING & NICE whenever I would see him; and everytime I watch this movie, I think about how THIS ROLE truly "personified him".... HE WAS AN ANGEL onscreen & off !!!

JC Jesus Christ. A Godsend. The Heaven song . The projector lights over John’s head like a crown. His delight smelling the earth and talking about the stars as if he really did know them, because he did. Like the lawyer said they couldn’t find out anything on him like he fell from the sky. John was dog tired had been wandering the roads endlessly. I can go on and on. Check out the book has backgrounds on these characters like only Stephen King can tell…🔥Thanks guys love ur movie reactions ❤(yes that was Sam Rockwell)

I think the story was a "what if?" What if an angel came to earth in the form of a giant black man in the deep south Jim crow Louisiana they toned down the racism and made wild Bill and the lawyer the sole representatives of it . Seemed like death row represented the world themes of love and hate good and evil. Great film Great review

You're right to compare this with The Shining. John has a very strong version of "The Shine" which is why he can predict what is going to happen and why he is so empathetic. Percy is such an evil man and is a prime example of how Stephen King shows that the real monsters are sometimes regular humans
