A slightly different way of describing this same effect is that the angle defined by the Airy transit circle was preserved at the cost of losing the position. Thanks for the video.

The first OS meridian used a different center of a different transit telescope. Airy put in a new transit in a room 6 meters east of the first transit. The OS kept using the old transit’s meridian- or it may be the other way around. Two different Transit telescopes were used. It’s confusing. It’s up to you Brits to figure it out. There was a theory that the antennae of the US Navy Transit satellite system at the Johns-Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Maryland USA somehow had offset the line from the Prime Meridian at Greenwich or some such.

The OS published maps prior to the invention of the the 'New Prime Meridian' so their maps showed the previous meridian which was James Bradley's. When the world adopted the new meridian OS stuck with the old one for consistency. (enacademic.com/dic.nsf/enwiki/32085)

Explained very well. It's basically the translation of Axes where we shift the origin(Center of the Earth) to maintain Universal Time continuity but we find the 103 m meridian shift because if that! Am I right?

Correct. As the scientific paper states in the abstract: "This offset can be accounted for by the difference between astronomical and geodetic coordinates-deflection of the vertical-in the east-west direction at Greenwich, and the imposed condition of continuity in astronomical time."

From your graphic it looks like the OS meridian runs through the other observatory which also has a telescope in it.

That's just the perspective, it actually runs about 6 metres outside to the East, as you can see on Bing Maps Ordinance Survey of the site. The OS literature (page 10) kundoc.com/pdf-the-ordnance-survey-and-the-greenwich-meridian-.html refers to the Transit Circle complex, hence my puzzlement

According to a couple of references, the OS meridian is the Bradley Transit Circle located 6 meters to the _West_ of the Airy Transit Circle. www.thegreenwichmeridian.org/tgm/articles.php?article=8 "The first printed chart or map known to have used Greenwich as its Prime Meridian was published in 1738.
